Have just emptied tumble dryer and it occurred to me that this amazing dryer is over 28 years old ! Have had a new washing machine delivered today ,and we have replaced washing machine every 3-4 years !

Not ancient but older than many I hear about breaking - our washing machine cost us £30, second hand (at least) off Facebook 6 years ago and still works absolutely fine!

My mum's old whisk set lasted about 30 years! She gave it to us about 4-5 years ago and it broke last year, she got it when I was young. The bowl lives on as the designated sick bowl

We've got a sewing machine that's in its 60s, it was my grans when she was a teen, works fine!

My uncle (approaching 80) still sews with his Mother's singer sewing machine, those things don't die, much better than my shitty plastic sewing machine.

Yep this one is a singer too 🤣

I've just remembered that I still use my grandmother's Singer treadle sewing machine, which she got for her seamstress apprenticeship present in 1927.

Dualit toaster 35+ years, although I replaced one of the elements.

Also have two more in the loft that have outlived relatives! (both 20+ years old)

Joking apart, I know the original uk made Dualit toasters are expensive, but how does it make sense to buy shit ones that only last a couple of years, and toss them into land fill?

LG American Fridge freezer, 20 years old and in perfect working order. It also looks like new. I keep thinking I should replace it as it won’t be as energy efficient as new ones, but it would take years to break even after buying one and the new one might not be as reliable.
