My parents tumble drier has just celebrated turning 42yrs old. 😲

evtheria · 13/12/2023 19:30

My dad has a mini fridge-freezer that he got secondhand in the early 80s.
The door is duct taped shut and the outside pitted with age, but it keeps the beers nice and frosty. I honestly suspect you could unplug it and it'd still be humming away, still on.

My parents also still have an enormous brown microwave (also the 80s) that's going strong.

Our pyramid shaped Christmas light from B&Q comes out every year. A few of the little bulbs have gone but the rest are still going. It's seen every Xmas our DC have ever had and the eldest is 21!

My toaster is 18 years old and still doing a fine job.

I was gutted when my wellies sprung a leak after 30 years.

User2856948 · 13/12/2023 19:47

Our orange wet and dry Vax is still vacuuming the garage, it must be 35 years old.

HundredMilesAnHour · 13/12/2023 19:48

My Dualit toaster....30 years old and counting. I use it every day.

rainpleasestop · 13/12/2023 19:48

Our tumble dryer is 30

ElizaMulvil · 13/12/2023 19:52

I have a 22 yr old freezer.

Mine's nearly 26 years old, probably wildly inefficient! I've broken 2 of the inside door fronts off, I'm amazed it keeps going.

Mummypete · 13/12/2023 19:57

My Braun epilator. I bought it on Black Friday 13 years ago. I really want to upgrade as I’m sure the newer models are much better but I can’t bring myself to get rid of it while it still works!

Notoriety · 13/12/2023 20:08

Was given a Moulinex electric whisk/mixer when I was 15. I’m now 70 and it still works

I thought I was doing well with 16 year old GHD’s 😀

Ah mine are 18 nearly 19 years old - sorry :D

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 13/12/2023 20:16

Mindymomo Is your radio alarm a cube shape? Mine is a similar age, I heard about Chernobyl, Dunblane and the Berlin Wall on it. Also gone from white to cream.

Henry hoover is 32 years old, seen us through two house renovations.

The lawn mower is about 35 years old and we have a lot of grass.

The fairy lights in our window are about 25 years old. Every year I am surprised and pleased by their durability.

We held a 50th birthday party for my mums fridge. We wrote to the manufacturers and they sent it a card.

Disturbia81 · 13/12/2023 20:20

My friend just got rid of a washer that they bought in 1985 so 38 years.. and it was secondhand!

DramaAlpaca · 13/12/2023 20:21

Our 'spare' fridge freezer in the utility room, mainly used these days for milk and beer, was bought for our first house in 1989 - so it's 34 years old now. It works perfectly.

I had a 20 year old tumble dryer but replaced that a couple of years ago, and an 18 year old dishwasher, also replaced a few years ago.

As for small appliances, I still use my mother's old Kenwood Mini which probably dates from the 70s.

ArcticBells · 13/12/2023 20:23

Clock radio 37 years old Grin

GenerousGardener · 13/12/2023 20:24

Dualit toaster I bought secondhand at a boot fair for £4 25 years ago. Goodness knows how old it actually is.

I'm amazed at what my 10 year old Henry has endured and still going strong. Will suck up stones from the car, fruit shoot lids etc no problem

We actually have a Henry Hospital close to where I live 😂

My best friend has my old tumble dryer. It must be a similar age! We're both shocked it's still going strong! 💪🏼

It’s amazing that they just keep going! Ours is a White Night and has been used most days apart from the summers !

My DM still uses her DM's Kenwood mixer which she got as a wedding present in 1951, so over 70 years old.

Tessisme · 13/12/2023 20:34

We just replaced our 20 year old Beko fridge freezer with another Beko. The old one is still working but we just needed something bigger and also we were fed up with the freezer being at the top and having no drawers. The things lurking in there ... 😆

My mum's Fridgemaster fridge freezer was 30 years old and still working away when she died earlier this year.

MadamVastra · 13/12/2023 20:37

I've had my sonicare toothbrush for 10 years! I do buy new brush heads 😂

WhatsTheUseOfWorrying · 13/12/2023 20:40

My vibrator’s coming up to its 30th birthday. Plenty of use but still going strong.
