Why are you awake at this time?

I spent all day exhausted and dying for bed, come upstairs and found a new lease of life. I have the dog beside me, laptop here, netflix on, glass of wine on the go and I have to be up at 7.30 tomorrow.

I’m worried about driving to work in this rain/ice. We have a yellow weather warning until midnight tonight. Tomorrow I need to drive after work in the dark with 2 little ones to a family member. I actually feel sick about it

Post Covid tinnitus woke me up at 4. It's been worse the last day or so, for no apparent reason. Now can't get back to sleep though absolutely knackered.

I've had a bake fail. Made some brownies with a new recipe. Didn't follow the recipe as closely as I should (I went rogue GBBO). It took ages to bake till the knife was clean and what I have is an 8 inch biscuit. Not burnt, just hard. I can use it for a crumb base next week so it won't go to waste.

I've got a bake sale today and ONLY have a matured gingerbread and some lemon and sultana muffins.

One bit of my brain is saying that it's enough. Another bit calling me a failure. The bit that decided to change an untried recipe has gone AWOL.

My stomach has decided to weigh in with a little acid indigestion.

In addition, I have some extra money coming in Jan/Feb and another bit of brain is deciding how to spend it now, even though I don't know when and how much.

All this brain will be whining that it's tired by lunchtime and the bit that is typing this is pretty pissed off that shutdown is not happening.

First world to the Nth degree, I know.

I got up at 3am for a wee and have noticed a huge damp patch seeping through a wall. No idea where it's coming from, no pipes there. Now I can't sleep because I'm panicking about it, grrrr.

@Kittensat36 I bake my brownies for 23 minutes and don't forget they carry on cooking from the residual heat when they come out. Leave the tray to stand for at least 30 minutes and you should have perfect brownies

No reason why I wake up at 4.21 precisely most mornings, utterly infuriating. If I was at home I would have a coffee but were away so can’t disturb the dogs who are asleep in the living room and will get excited.

We've had that.
The chimney walls were wet from all the rain. The roofer is going to paint them with a protective paint...

Me too. Do you have covid or the other lurgy, or is your cough chronic? I have some bastard virus, but took some cocodamol and ibuprofen half an hour ago and sipping on some sleepytime tea with honey and nutmeg now so hoping to be able to get back asleep at some point. Hate coughing! Stupid thing for bodies to do when the best thing for them is some rest.

Im always weirded out when I read stuff like this and I know most people are similar but say this morning at 2am I went down and had a coffee (two heaped teaspoons) then came up to bed and fell asleep. I may be wired differently. Anyway i got about 3 hours in the end so thats something.

Awake for the day since just before 4am. No idea why apart from I drank wine yesterday, perimenopause and a massive huge to-do list which is causing me some anxiety. So I've titted about on the internet now for nearly 3 hours achieving one thing off my to-do list.

Have to go out tonight to a party I've been really looking forward to and will look shit. (The bags under my eyes have taken over my whole face).
