What would your death row meal be?

Only 1 option, 3 courses if you wish.

What are you having? I'll go first..

Starters: prawn cocktail with iceberg lettuce and avocado (basic I know but I love it)
Mains: rare-medium rare beef wellington either triple fried chips, mayo for the chips, pan fried asparagus and long stem broccoli, with a red wine gravy.
Desert: old school butterscotch tart, Cornish clotted cream.
Then a bix of Jaffa cakes or two.

Washed down with a litre of disaronno and cranberry to help me on my way.

What's yours?

Roast pork with mashed potatoes, roast potatoes stuffing with sausage meat, carrots, cabbage, peas, parsnips apple sauce and gravy. Pudding apple and sultana crumble with cinnamon and custard. Drink builders brew Yorkshire tea- wouldn't need decaffeinated on this occasion no starter-I'm not greedy.😊

I would eat the things that I avoid because of lactose intolerance, IBS and fear of getting fat.
I’d have deep fried Camembert with cranberry sauce and crusty bread, glass of chassagne Montrachet
Then lobster with garlic butter and skinny French fries and cold cold South African Chardonnay, really oaked
Then a filthy dirty cheeseboard with port
and finally a darrrrk chocolate mousse with air-light shortbread to shovel it up with and some perfectly ripe raspberries. Maybe a shot of freezing vodka after.

I just don't get these "death row" threads when they pop up.
If I was going to be murdered by the state tomorrow I would not be able to eat a bite.
When my parents announced they were divorcing I was mid-lasagne (my favourite as a 13 year old) and I couldn't even look at one for about a year afterwards.

🥱 There’s actually a higher percentage of white people on death row in America than ethnic minorities.

FWIW, I’m fervently against the death penalty no matter what the crime is. It doesn’t matter if they only execute one innocent person in 100 years, that’s too many.

Edited

I'm glad you are bored by the idea of black people being disproportionately condemned to death in the US. But even if you are against the death sentence, your claim is misleading. 12.1% of the US population is black. 41% of those on death row are black. That is a deeply disturbing fact demonstrating the ingrained racism in the "justice system". 46% of death row inmates are white. 71% of the US population is white. There is ample evidence of racism. Sorry to disturb your ennui, but I find it hard to reconcile being BORED by any aspect of state sanctioned murder, never mind one that you are wrong about - disproportionately more black people are on death row and are executed. Fact.

Btw OP aren’t the requests for medications sort of infringing the rules?

I think they're irrelevant rather than against the 'rules'. It's pretty obvious that the OP just meant what would you eat if you knew it was your last meal before you died. I doubt that the actual manner of death, or what you might do to pre-empt it, were supposed to be part of the consideration.

Anyway... I'd have mushrooms in garlic, cream and brandy sauce on sourdough toast as a starter, followed by rare roast beef with all the trimmings (including leeks in cheese sauce). Then tarte tatin with lavender ice cream.

Lay off OP, please, everyone.
Literally a handful of people have criticised the underlying premise on a thread of 125+ posts (and counting). They have done so with thought-out and clearly written posts.

The people who robustly dismissed that criticism come across (in their tone and desperation to be agreed with) as a lot more "professionally offended" to be perfectly honest, including the OP.

If they are so easily invalidated that they can't even handle 5/125 people criticising them, they shouldn't be on MN, it's a melting pot not an echo chamber (thank God).

Warm croissant with lurpack
Beans on white bread toast with lurpack
Cheese board with a glass of wine.

Goodness me. The purpose of using the death row example is just to manufacture a scenario where the person would definitely know it was their last meal on earth, because there aren't many real life scenarios where you would know that in advance! The point isn't to think about the actual made-up execution bit.

I'm not offended by people getting their pants in a twist about a hypothetical scenario. It's laughable.

I don't need to be validated knowing what meals everyone would choose in a made up scenario. Calm down.

Can you really not understand?

I'm asking, if there was a last chance in life to eat anything you wanted, what would you. And the only thing I could think of was a death row meal as the person condemned to death usually gets to choose what they want to eat the night before. That is it. That is all.
