Dear God is there a worse courier than DPD?

I have 2 things on subscription, both excellent products - sodastream gas canisters from CO2U and fresh cat food from KatKin. Both companies use DPD and I'm becoming tempted to cancel my subscriptions just because of issues.

Last month's delivery man was appallingly rude (and let me tell you, my expectations are very low). I had THE TEMERITY to live in a cul-de-sac which is tight for parking, for which I received an actual bollocking. They also took away the empty cylinders, left me with my new set of full cylinders but also redelivered the empty lot (still empty) the same day!

This month, a different driver has merrily delivery £70 worth of fresh cat food to some completely unknown location! The photo is of a completely different address but I can't tell where. My address is not difficult! Cue me going to my neighbours' houses in the dark and cold to see if they had it by any chance and now having to go to the supermarket as I only have about 3 days worth of fresh food left. Plus the elderly cat will not love the change to her diet.

Thanks for listening to my rant!

Evri.
they left me a picture of two parcels ’delivered’ into a recycling bin. On bin day (obviously bin day). It wasn’t even my bin.

mynameiscalypso · 01/12/2023 18:13

Yodel here. Always terrible. I love our DPD driver.

Gnomegnomegnome · 01/12/2023 18:15

Evri. Absolutely nothing right about them.

AgnesX · 01/12/2023 18:18

UPS. They don't even try to deliver but deliver it to a nearby shop which I can't get to. Lying shower.

Our Evri and DPD drivers are actually pretty good (regular delivery drivers since before COVID).

Dinnerlady12 · 01/12/2023 18:20

Yodel. I love DPD and Evri.

SleepingisanArt · 01/12/2023 18:26

Evri! Useless. Sent my order to completely wrong hub, apparently couldn't redirect it within their system to the correct hub so the shop had to replace my whole order (which they sent using a different courier).

Local DPD driver is amazing, friendly, often ahead of delivery time but will text to make sure that's OK. Will be sad if he retires!

AceofPentacles · 01/12/2023 18:30

Evri are shit. I won't buy from m&s because they use Evri.

Alargeoneplease89 · 01/12/2023 18:31

Never had a problem with them but Evri ....

TheDayBeforeYouCame · 01/12/2023 18:33

DPD are the best by miles

ImNunTheWiser · 01/12/2023 18:34

Must be very regional, or probably even local, because DPD and EVRI here are flipping brilliant. And my favourite ever courier is Yodel. UPS and DHL on the other hand......my heart sinks....

AgentProvocateur · 01/12/2023 18:34

Evri.

Bluevelvetsofa · 01/12/2023 18:34

Royal Mail. Shocking.

Caffeineislife · 01/12/2023 18:34

Yodel or Evri.

Yodel seem to love putting a package in the bin on bin day. Or more recently, just choosing a house at random to deliver parcels to. The house doesn't even have to be on the correct street round here.

Evri are slightly better because there is 1 driver who actually updates the local FB when he is on advising of delays ect. Sadly he only does a couple of days a month. The other 3 are even more useless than a chocolate fireguard. One basically collects and then delivers when she can be arsed and then posts on the local Facebook page if I have your packages come to my house to collect it. One will only deliver between 9.30 and 2.30 and refuses to be contacted about parcels, she posts on the local FB that she is doing Evri today and then gets arsey at people when she hasn't delivered packages, its very "im a mummy and providing for my babies (who are late primary), be patient with me. I've got to go on the school run now so those who haven't got their packages today will have to wait until next school day. Don't contact me until next school day". Bit of a hoohaa at half term as she refused to deliver packages during the 2 week half term. The other driver seems to be incredibly unlucky with lost packages. It's very unlucky that so many pairs of expensive trainers, nice clothes, expensive looking deliveries all seem to get lost when this driver is on. They also seem to have the worst look with bashed up and half opened parcels. The tape never seems to have stuck properly when they are on...

Missingmyusername · 01/12/2023 18:35

Evri and Yodel. DPD aren’t great either.

PinkArt · 01/12/2023 18:35

DPD used to be so far ahead of the rest it was ridiculous. Live tracking when everyone else's approach was more, meh, today, maybe, sometime between 3am and mindnight, maybe. Since covid though they've been shocking. One attempt and if you aren't in or they get the wrong fucking house then - for my address anyway - they deliver to 'a local shop', which was not at all local and a pain in the ass to get to.
It amazes me how far they've fallen, that they are on a par with Evri for me now.

User136921 · 01/12/2023 18:37

DPD are the best

AuntieDolly · 01/12/2023 18:37

I love my DPD driver and tip him at Christmas. Evri & Royal Mail are rubbish here.

megletthesecond · 01/12/2023 18:37

UPS. They can't even give an AM / PM slot. Really poor. Had to wait in all day recently.

Our DPD / Evri / Royal Mail / Argos can time it to the minute and even tell me the name of the delivery person. Really good service in our town.

Scampuss · 01/12/2023 18:37

DPD used to be so good, and I happily-ish would pay extra to have them deliver stuff. Now they're no better than the rest. My main Evri woman is fab though.

YourNameGoesHere · 01/12/2023 18:38

Bluevelvetsofa · 01/12/2023 18:34

Royal Mail. Shocking.

Agreed! Royal mail are the worst here by miles!

LookMaggie · 01/12/2023 18:39

Thanks guys. I emailed Katkin. I live at 1/2 Something Terrace. They tell me DPD say the delivered the £70 of fresh food to 3/4 Different Completely Different Terrace. I go there. It is not there!

Not overly impressed with Katkin to be honest. They send me out on a wild goose chase to pick up my own parcel and haven't even bothered with a partial refund or any sort of gesture.

At the end of the day, it's my unwell 17 year old cat who suffers here at the short-notice change to her diet.

Why ARE delivery companies, energy companies and banks so shit? Not to mention tradesmen.

SURELY there must be a market out there to provide these services at a higher price but with actual standard of customer service?!

They're dire, aren't they.

I booked for them to collect a parcel from a hotel in Brighton and bring it to London. Three attempted collections - or so they say - the parcel was still sitting in Brighton. The Brighton Metropole is hardly difficult to find.

I gave up and sent ParcelForce to fetch it, which they did, first go.

As far as I can tell, DPD subcontract their collections to Evri and their customer service to Parcels2Go which means they don't have a clue what is going on, and won't actually speak to their customers.

I'm about to start the battle for a £50 refund.

I'll stick with ParcelForce for now. At least they seem to know where they are going.

CalistoNoSolo · 01/12/2023 18:44

I've never had a problem with any courier service (touches wood) but the DPD guys are awesome - happy, friendly, helpful and unfailingly polite.

Grimmz · 01/12/2023 18:50

I think the quality of DPD (or any other courier) varies depending on region and basically whether you're lucky enough to get a sensible driver.

For me, DPD's navigation system doesn't direct drivers to my house properly (they always end up in the next town) so I've had to set up an account with them and specify that all deliveries for me be delivered directly to the local post office.

But definitely complain to the shops/merchants if you're unhappy with their delivery agents. They should know if the service is shit and might actually do something about it.

Also I think merchants should disclose on the checkout page which delivery agent they use so shoppers can be warned.
