Miranda Hart?

I' m watching tv and been channel surfing. I came across some episodes of Miranda. I'd forgotten all about it.

What happened to her? She was everywhere at one point- on her own show, on game shows, current affairs things, comedy programmes, chat shows. I think she had national tours with a comedian type show and in a play she wrote. Then it's like she just vanished.
I asked DH if I have missed something but he says he has never heard of her- which isn't true but he's obviously forgotten who she is.

Did she just stop doing everything?

I don’t know but you are right, she just kind of disappeared

pickledandpuzzled · 26/11/2023 18:35

She’s around. She has fibromyalgia so has to ration her energy carefully.

FrenchandSaunders · 26/11/2023 18:36

I think she went through a troubled time with depression.

She's on instagram and she writes a column for Good Housekeeping.

SequinsandStiIettos · 26/11/2023 18:36

She had a decent role in Spy, took the money and run! Good on her.

Makemydaypunk · 26/11/2023 18:38

I was wondering the same when I was surfing IPlayer and Miranda popped up. I hope she is ok, loved that series, it always cheered me up and is good comfort tv.

BusySittingDown · 26/11/2023 18:39

I follow her on insta and she posts sometimes. She posts about Miranda merch (t-shirts that say Such Fun etc).

Wishimaywishimight · 26/11/2023 18:39

I loved her in the early series of Not Going Out!

KenAdams · 26/11/2023 18:42

I liked her the most as Chummie in Call the Midwife.

That's my Christmas viewing sorted. I love Miranda: there's much I can identify with, being tall and awkward and rubbish with men.

Accounts released this week show Kingmaker Tours – with Miranda as the only director – had £3,845,345 in the bank as of June and was expecting to receive a £7,000 loan repayment.
After corporation tax and other bills of £852,236 are deducted, the firm closes with a healthy £3,000,109 in the black.

Fair play to her if she made that much in two years.

That article is dated 2015.

I'd forgotten about Call the Midwife and Spy and the books. She was incredibly successful.

Torquay seems like an odd place to go off to live but, according to Wikipedia she was bitn there so may have family and friends there. She did a huge number of yhings I wasn't even aware of but seems to have really would down between 2015-17 and just does an occasional thing like a voice over now.

Pity because she was one of those talented people who wasn't unkind to other people in her comedy or writing.

I liked watching Miranda...it was not the best or funniest comedy ever but really comforting and easy to watch

Lorelaigilless · 26/11/2023 18:58

I loved Miranda, just such a nice comforting watch and didn’t need to put anyone else down or be mean to get laughs. I didn’t realise she had fibromyalgia, that’s a real shame.

uhOhOP · 26/11/2023 18:58

Maybe somebody told her to knock it on the head because she's just not the slightest bit funny.

LakeTiticaca · 26/11/2023 18:59

Miranda has been showing Saturdays and Sundays on channel W
I have watched every episode multiple times and still laugh out loud every time.
I want to live in her cosy flat and have Stevie as my best friend 😊😊

TeaAndStrumpets · 26/11/2023 19:00

She was in Emma in 2020, playing Miss Bates.

Erm, yes. I know?
You asked where/why she'd gone.
That's why. Took a payday. Semi-retired.
She has only had the part in Emma since as a big thing.
Don't know about you but, not being of extravagant taste, I reckon I could survive the rest of my life on 3 mill Grin

Same

jay55 · 26/11/2023 19:07

The American series Call me Kat was based on Miranda, I think she did some writing for that.

LuluBlakey1 · 26/11/2023 19:08

@SequinsandStiIettos Yes, I could cope with 3 million in the bank - no doubt plus properties and investments.

Riverlee · 26/11/2023 19:10

She used to do writing for French and Saunders so maybe she’s doing more of that.

whatwasIgoingtosay · 26/11/2023 19:16

I liked her in the early days of Not Going Out, as the hapless cleaner.

GauntJudy · 26/11/2023 19:19

Maybe the 1984 bbc comedy department called and asked for her back?
