What is your ultimate dream pet?

Soubriquet · 22/11/2023 10:16

Doesn’t have to be one that can be domesticated. It can be literally any animal

My dream would be a fennec fox. I know people keep them as pets sometimes, but it wouldn’t be ideal whilst I’m in rented accommodation. Plus they are very pricey and require a lot of special attention and needs.

My other dream pet is a sphinx cat but my dh can’t stand them. He hates naked cats

I have my dream pet! She’s a miniature poodle and she’s amazing. I never imagined I would have a poodle. I saw poodles as daft, dogs, with stupid haircuts. How wrong I was! Poodles are in fact highly intelligent dogs. They are very easy to train and they are biddable and quiet. As for the haircuts? Breaking news, you can trim your poodle however you want to, and ours looks just like a normal dog. 🐾

CalistoNoSolo · 22/11/2023 10:21

The two dogs I already have. Keeping a wild animal as a pet is deeply wrong and should be banned imo. People who have 'exotic pets' never, ever have them because they're putting the animals best interests first, and generally speaking, are selfish arseholes. If you want a cat, get a rescue, not some ridiculous bald monstrosity.

TropDrôle · 22/11/2023 10:24

Immortal cats.

In reality, I'd love a red panda.

Obviously I am 100% against ownership of anything except dogs and cats. Rodents, reptiles and birds, however lovely, should not be caged.

Cocolapew · 22/11/2023 10:25

A panda. I like to watch videos of them falling over 🙈. I did think they were big, squashy bundles of fur, but saw a video yesterday of someone who lost their leg after being mauled by one 😟
I'd quite like a racoon as well.

wetotter · 22/11/2023 10:27

Capybara - they're so friendly and look so restful to be around

But they're only really happy in large groups, with land to roam on and a lake to swim in

OrigamiOwl · 22/11/2023 10:30

Another vote for capybaras!

Clearly I'm not gonna ever get one, but they look so happy!

AltitudeCheck · 22/11/2023 10:30

A boarder collie... and the time & lifestyle to train them!

They are 30 stone of bear! Super cute, but still a wild bear underneath it!

Trickedbyadoughnut · 22/11/2023 10:31

An otter! They are so cute and very tactile.

SquashPenguin · 22/11/2023 10:31

I’d love a raccoon. Or an orca that lives in the sea but always comes back to see me and let’s me swim with it every day.

SpeculatingRooks · 22/11/2023 10:32

Came on to say capybara! See that pps agree!
Either that or a hippo

Catandsquirrel · 22/11/2023 10:34

My cat is my ultimate dream pet. He is a big chunky intelligent ball of fun.

Why would you want to keep something that shouldn't really be kept or bred as a pet?

ShufflingHedgehogs · 22/11/2023 10:34

An otter.

It could play in the pond and the bath and I would feed it sprats.

It would go for a walk with me and scamper along beside me.

At night it would curl up tight in the end of the bed.

MrsSkylerWhite · 22/11/2023 10:35

A miniature elephant 😁
Failing that, a pig.

catin8oots · 22/11/2023 10:36

House cow. And a penguin.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 22/11/2023 10:41

Sorry to bring the thread down but my dream pet died a few weeks ago.My beautiful, grumpy boy he was a Chihuahua and I loved him indescribably.

Nightmarerels · 22/11/2023 10:46

Lassie

Cumbrianlife · 22/11/2023 10:48

@Trickedbyadoughnut Otters are really vicious. I did a zookeeper experience day with DD. We got up close and personal with lots of huge creatures, including hand-feeding rhinos but weren't allowed anywhere near the otters.

mondaytosunday · 22/11/2023 10:48

My cats are pretty dreamy! Only improvement would be non shedding and not demanding breakfast at 5am (last solved by locking them downstairs at night).

Nightmarerels · 22/11/2023 10:51

Love the idea of raccoons. In reality not so much and they should be wild.

Hmmmbetterchangethis · 22/11/2023 10:52

A marmoset!! One that clings to my hand or shoulder for most of the day!! 😂

I would train it to ride a tiny, stag beetle drawn carriage and we’d travel the world with our show!

CurlewKate · 22/11/2023 10:53

I saw a woolly coated Guinea pig on TicToc.......

Lottie4 · 22/11/2023 10:56

I have my dream pet(s) - just two common moggies. I'd love pedigree ones just as much, but more than happy with my two common boys.

Strokethefurrywall · 22/11/2023 10:59

A raccoon and a Leonberger. Preferably both together. The raccoon can feed the Leonberger with its little paws 😍😍😍

whatausername · 22/11/2023 11:05

Giraffe.
