What is your ultimate dream pet?

Soubriquet · 22/11/2023 10:16

Doesn’t have to be one that can be domesticated. It can be literally any animal

My dream would be a fennec fox. I know people keep them as pets sometimes, but it wouldn’t be ideal whilst I’m in rented accommodation. Plus they are very pricey and require a lot of special attention and needs.

My other dream pet is a sphinx cat but my dh can’t stand them. He hates naked cats

I’d like several donkeys and enough land for them to live their best life.

FindingMeno · 22/11/2023 11:25

My dream pet would be someone else's pet.
I'm so over the heartbreak when they die, the vets costs, the extra cleaning, the commitment and restrictions.

notprincehamlet · 22/11/2023 11:32

Poitou donkeys and bearded collies (although as a renter, all pets are dream ones - can't even hang a picture of a pet let alone keep one!)

ThreeRingCircus · 22/11/2023 11:34

I would love a cat if I could guarantee it wouldn't kill any small animals, jump on the kitchen surfaces or shed hair.

Also if it it would sit on my lap and let me stroke it.

Such cats must exist but I'm not sure how to guarantee I get one and not one of the aloof ones that hates you and kills mice 🤣.

Everycompanyisafuckup · 22/11/2023 11:34

Giraffe

Squiblet · 22/11/2023 11:36

In fact, can I please just have a team of about 20 small furry woodland creatures who live in dens around the house, never wee or poo, love to cuddle, stage small shows for my entertainment and clean the house in their spare time?

Teatrayderby · 22/11/2023 11:36

Pine marten. Sitting on my shoulder like pantalaimon

Cas112 · 22/11/2023 11:37

Panda

Jasmin1971 · 22/11/2023 11:42

Black panther x

Ineedwinenow · 22/11/2023 11:45

A sloth, they seem happy with their lot in life and are so cute, who doesn’t want to hang around all day sleeping and eating! Sounds perfect and I’d happily join my imaginary sloth pet in those activities

In reality I’m happy with my gorgeous dog, she has the personality somewhere in between a grumpy old man and a stroppy teenager and we get on so well, she’s my little furry sidekick and we are together 24/7

Cocolapew · 22/11/2023 11:47

@OrigamiOwl mine would be 29 stone of floof, and 1 stone of bear.

xogossipgirlxo · 22/11/2023 11:49

Naked cats😂😂😂

I’m very boring, already have two cats I always dreamed of. I even brought home a kitten when I was a child and my mum didn’t allow me to keep it😭 I would also like to have german shepherd, cocker spaniel and dachshund. I know I will have to pick one of these though.

timeforacoffeebreak · 22/11/2023 11:50

100% a slow loris but sadly they are exotic and also pretty poisonous. Other than that.. cutest things on earth

LovelyAndAmazing · 22/11/2023 11:50

A Great Dane - never going to happen, we live in a small house and I don't think I'm up to the challenge.

A Maine Coon cat - love their slightly wild looks and big ears. Could be possible one day!

In fantasy land an otter or an owl that would sit on my shoulder and fix people with a beady glare.

Bumface56 · 22/11/2023 11:53

My fantasy animals would be some pangolins and the appropriate forest and land to keep them safe from poaching.
They are such beautiful creatures and so vulnerable.

LardoBurrows · 22/11/2023 11:53

A pet red squirrel that would sit on my shoulder while I feed it nuts and go for walks with me, either scampering through the trees or sitting on my shoulder. I would also love a unicorn that I could ride through the countryside, with my 🐿️ perched up front obvs.

OldTinHat · 22/11/2023 11:54

An armadillo, a meerkat and a penguin for me please!

This is a lovely idea and would be wonderful.

Sourisblanche · 22/11/2023 11:56

I’d like to rehome a donkey, I’ve already picked out her name (assuming she doesn’t mind me changing it!).

I also want to get some ex battery hens once we move into our new home.

TicTac80 · 22/11/2023 11:57

I already have my lovely cats (3 rescues and a Maine Coon). My dream would be to have a place large enough to have more cats, and a large garden that is cat proofed (to prevent them escaping) or a giant catio. If I was rich, I'd just surround myself with lots of cats.

Other dream pets: horses, and dogs. Again though, I'd need a larger place (and a life routine that would allow me to keep these pets and look after them/exercise them properly!)

I have my dream pet! She’s a miniature poodle and she’s amazing. I never imagined I would have a poodle. I saw poodles as daft, dogs, with stupid haircuts. How wrong I was! Poodles are in fact highly intelligent dogs. They are very easy to train and they are biddable and quiet. As for the haircuts? Breaking news, you can trim your poodle however you want to, and ours looks just like a normal dog. 🐾

I am also a miniature poodle owner who was coming on to post a very similar message. I love her so much. She's so funny, loving, cute and clever I couldn't ask for a better companion

larkstar · 22/11/2023 11:59

Always fancied having a hare. A raven (they are notoriously intelligent) might also be on my list. And some otters - got to have some otters!

brightontheeyes · 22/11/2023 12:00

When I win the lottery (that I don't play) I'll buy a house with loads of land and will have some companion horses. The ones that can't be ridden or are old and retired, so I can take them on nice walks around the grounds and spend ages just brushing and fussing them and watch them play with they friends in the fields. Such lovely animals

Good point, it definitely needs to be otters plural so they could play together. Obviously they would like in a large lake in the grounds of my stately home but would be tame enough to scamper alongside while I strolled around my parkland.
