I will watch as much of the Covid Enquiry/Johnson as possible. My heart goes out to the relations outside who are speaking so eloquently about what they are hoping for.
There's a guy speaking now who just is putting it so well. "It's about everyone in society"

God I hate it when my WhatsApp just goes down and comes back up and has deleted 5000 WhatsApp’s in the process.

Roussette · 06/12/2023 10:54

I know it's a bugger isn't it!

I did something stupid with my WA and lost the lot. After a lot of googling and playing around, I got the lot back. It took me hours but I ON MY OWN managed it!

This has never happened to me.
But that might be because I don't use whatsapp for work, because it is not appropriate.

🚨Rumours swirling that Suella Braverman is planning to make a 'personal statement' in the Commons today setting out her criticism of Sunak's approach to immigration

Excellent.

She's going to have a nasty shock when she learns who Sunak has had in charge of immigration for most of his time as PM.

Covid Inquiry is on a break, what have I missed re PMQs, Braverman and Hillsborough?

BIossomtoes · 06/12/2023 12:58

Do we know how much they’ve now spent on the Rwanda fiasco?

Notonthestairs · 06/12/2023 13:10

Apparently more letters have been sent in.

& Starmer seems to have a better grasp of the Treaty than Sunak. I guess he's probably read it.

A propos of Braverman’s imminent statement, a senior minister just told me he’d heard more letters of no confidence in Rishi Sunak had gone in from Tory right MPs. I can’t believe they want a fourth PM in this parliament. But we live in weird bonkers times.

Rishi Sunak dodges a Q from Starmer on how many refugees the UK will accept from Rwanda. The small print of the treaty doesn't say #PMQs

What does he think attracted Mr Kagame to hundreds of thousands of pounds for nothing in return," Starmer asks #PMQs

Sunak will be on a G7 call as Braverman gives her statement to HoC.
I'm sure he's sorry to miss it.

snorts

It takes some brass balls to stand up and talk as if you’re looking in from a position of no responsibility. Saying that Rishi has embraced that tactic for a while now.

Cornettoninja · 06/12/2023 15:00

Was Suella really such a shit barrister that her only option was to manouvere into a position she could change laws?

newnamethanks · 06/12/2023 15:07

I thought she was sacked? How come a resignation speech? Oh my, a couple of weeks off hasn't improved her one bit. Let me summarise "this Party is fucked if you don't agree with me. Racists everywhere, support me now, ditch Rishi, and I'll deliver just what you want'. So what's taken you so long Cruella? It's not even your job any more and you were dreadful at jt. Go away.

DuncinToffee · 06/12/2023 15:11

Her "mass uncontrolled illegal immigration" by "mostly young men, many with values and mores that do not accord with our own", many of whom are "from safe countries" and "economic migrants" is like MN bingo on immigration threads

OP posts:
Roussette · 06/12/2023 15:11

Seeing Suella made me feel quite bilious. What with her and Johnson, not good.

Cornettoninja · 06/12/2023 15:14

"this Party is fucked (CHEERS from the opposition benches) if you don't agree with me. Racists everywhere, support me now, ditch Rishi, and I'll deliver just what you want'

Sorry for adding to your post @newnamethanks. I just thought it would benefit from being a bit more atmospheric for those who won’t catch the audio Grin

newnamethanks · 06/12/2023 15:17

Excellent ninja, a definite improvement. Oh she is vile.

Zonder · 06/12/2023 15:32

This! JRM referred to her resignation on the day she was sacked. The BBC person didn't call him out on it.

Cornettoninja · 06/12/2023 15:56

Wasn’t she ‘offered the opportunity to resign’?

Notonthestairs · 06/12/2023 15:57

Jennifer Acuri has tweeted that it's possible to recover messages even after factory resets. And offers to investigate.

I think the Inquiry should let her try.

It does seem as though all those IT lessons were time wasted.

Notonthestairs · 06/12/2023 17:25

On the Rwanda bill this from Adam Wagner

"I hope that at least the House of Lords gives this short shrift. It's essentially embarrassing - an attempt by the government to bypass legal protections which exist to protect the most vulnerable people in the world from persecution, so that it can look tough before an election. It's unedifying - the worst of Johnsonianism"

In short it will go back to court.
