I have listened to a bit of Sky News and BBC News this morning. And they have both wheeled out BJ insisting he 'got the big calls right'. I am so so so sick of that ridiculous phrase that he has recycled to save his blancmange-y pink skin.

On another subject, I find it absolutely disgusting that Sunak and Cameron both travelled seperately by private jet to COP28. What sort of message does that give out?

Edited

It tells you all you need to know about how much they care about the environment.

Roussette · 02/12/2023 07:35

It makes me sick. There are nine daily flights to Dubai. Business Class on there... what's the problem.
I have heard whispers of Sunak's private jet habit, I think it will be gobsmacking when he's out and more is revealed .

jgw1 · 02/12/2023 07:41

Rather than post the headlines about how Sunak has sunk the Conservative party lower, the latest polling from Scotland is interesting. The largest party in England in the polls is also the largest party in Scotland...

They didn't even fill the private yets. The junior ministers and civil servants who accompanied them were all put on scheduled flights.

Come along people, you surely can't be expecting our Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary to share? who would get the best seat for the most important person? Arguments could last for weeks. It's absolutely vital for the national interest that when they go on a jolly to patronise poorer countries and show them what to do, that they do so from the hypocritical position that those countries know to expect from us. Take that, Greece! I bet our private planes are shinier than yours.

What scares me is that after the next election we could have more Labour MPs voting against the government than there are members of the next largest party and the government would still win the vote.

Johnson, Sunak and Truss have really not been good for democracy.

DuncinToffee · 02/12/2023 12:49

I guess those bungs to certain media outlets will pay off this week....

They're on permanent retainers. Can always squeeze a few more Peers in, House of Lords is the original Tardis.

3 months? 90 days approx. £7k a day. No wonder he doesn't know how to put petrol in a car.

Fortunately hiring private jets doesn't cause inflation whereas paying nurses does.

In other news the number of people in Youguv's poll of who would make the best PM now only has Sunak 1% above Johnson's lowest mark.

What? Words, yet again, fail me.

newnamethanks · 02/12/2023 16:58

Not keen on those poll figures jgw1, at this rate we'll have Bozo back again by public demand. Ohhhhh, it's all so predictable and all so depressing.

Remember when the Government announced new chess tables for local authorities?

On average, one new chess table for each 1.48 million people in England. Here's a regional breakdown:

How many frequent flyer miles would Sunak have to forgo in order that the South West could be permitted a chess table?

Well this is one way to deflect from Johnson's oral evidence at the Covid Inquiry this week. Bung Rwanda another £15 million (on top of additional payments already made this year but which they haven't put a number on).

Exclusive w/ @cazjwheeler

Rishi Sunak will hand Rwanda an extra £15m as part of new immigration treaty

James Cleverly expected in Kigali either Mon or Tues

No10 has blocked out Tues-Thurs for treaty & and emergency legislation to be tabled

Tiny print makes it difficult to read but these tweets from Lizzie Dreaden are quite revealing in the sense the Home Office are pretty keen to cover up how much Rwanda has cost so far and what it may cost in the future -

"Excruciating exchanges at yesterday's Home Affairs Committee on the rising costs of the Rwanda scheme"

x.com/lizziedearden/status/1730214912633237657?s=46&t=Uw4lJNwxFZFnX0Xs3doHYg

Doesn't give a strong sense of willingness to be held accountable in any form.

Think of all the chess tables the good people of Rwanda will now be able to have.

Random £15m to Rwanda, £900m a week for the Brexit divorce bill…. Great fiscaling Tories 👍

never mind eh? At least I’m due my turn on the chess board before Christmas 2024. God save our green and pleasant land to rule the waves.

Piggywaspushed · 03/12/2023 16:20

It's interesting that the BBC say this may anger those on the left of the party. It sure has, and this may not matter. It has also pissed off many many Labour voters not on the left. I really don't want to vote for a party aligned in any way with Thatcherism. However, to get rid of the current bunch, I will do my bit. And this is what they are relying on. I feel a bit let down.

That’ll come in handy in all the pre election threads.
