It's been several hours since the police announced they had located the car. They have made no further statement.

I think it's highly unlikely that there will be any good news to come.

MyKindOfWonderful · 21/11/2023 15:05

I also saw that comment earlier but am hoping the handyman just assumed there had been a terrible accident due to the amount of emergency vehicles.
Nothing has been confirmed officially.

DancingFerret · 21/11/2023 15:05

If the reports are accurate and forensics are involved the news will be not be good - for at least one of the boys' families.

SpringViolet · 21/11/2023 15:05

Poor, poor kids and their families. It really looks like bad news.

This story really rattled me similar to a PP. DS1 and his mates (bit older) would be the type to do this sort of thing (camping in November!), really great, polite, super intelligent bunch with little common sense, and even look similar to these lads. My heart went as soon as I saw this story. Absolutely horrific.

Prinnny · 21/11/2023 15:06

Oh it sounds like they’ve found the car and it’s been in an accident, how sad for the families. Thoughts and prayers to them and the emergency crews on site dealing with the aftermath.

I agree - this update isn't helpful - for one it is third hand info.

I also realise that my earlier update (where I had quoted the ex police officer) was unwise - i hadnt realised he was Ex Police and not involved in the case

TheUsualChaos · 21/11/2023 15:07

The silence is deafening. Sadly don't think there will be any good news today.

slowsundays · 21/11/2023 15:09

It's worrying me that the ambulance has been there for hours now and hasn't moved. This is horrifically sad.

MossGrowsFat · 21/11/2023 15:10

I think ex police officers should not be allowed to be quoted in national newspapers, I think they do much more harm than a thread on MN.

The update after that about 5 mins ago says:

'Community knowledge' will be vital to help locate the the teenagers
Gareth Pritchard, former deputy chief constable of North Wales Police and trustee of the Ogwen Montain Rescue Team charity, told BBC Radio Cymru's Dros Ginio programme that locating the teenagers is the biggest challenge facing the emergency services.

He said: "It is such a vast area and not knowing the route of the teenagers will make it even more challenging and will take a lot of time." He says the community's knowledge and help is essential in the attempts to locate the the teenagers.

^^

Ah
I'm going to wait till I hear from the police now I think, and hope to god that they are missing rather than in that car.
Thanks for that update

I agree, people see the word 'police' and think it's a current, informed update. So many people even on this thread making that mistake.

crikeycrumbsblimey · 21/11/2023 15:12

Discuss but honestly the speculation is awful. There are still hawks over the area.

Delatron · 21/11/2023 15:12

I think the fact that they are saying the teenagers weren’t in the car is one glimmer of hope. If it was an accident they wouldn’t say they are still trying to locate them. The ambulances are worrying but at this stage if they are still alive they would need medical help immediately.

Hawks are the fast jet trainer craft from RAF Valley on Anglesey. They have nothing to do with this incident at all.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 21/11/2023 15:14

Do they use drones in search and rescue now? I know nothing about either, but I'd assume that rather than just picking a direction to search in they'd use drones to see if there are clues to track, if it's not windy/wet/dark.

ShirleyPhallus · 21/11/2023 15:14

It’s such awful news, I really hope they’re found safe and well somehow

I don’t think there’s been any confirmation one way or the other.

It’s all just speculation.

BettyBakesCakes · 21/11/2023 15:14

Just seen on Twitter police are reading a statement at 16.30 and will not be taking questions. Doesn't look good.

What’s happening is the media are filling in with interviews they’ve arranged in-between official updates.

So some old information is being repeated and speculated about.

The fact remains that there’s been no more updates from the police, which isn’t very positive.

I see that as a sign the boys have not yet been found. If it was an accident and the boys were in the car, those ambulances would have sped off by now.

My heart goes out to their families. Hoping they will be found soon.

notimagain · 21/11/2023 15:15

"There are still hawks over the area."

If you mean the aircraft rather than the feathered sort that's just standard training going on out of RAF Valley..

(@Flickersy beat me to it).

skyeisthelimit · 21/11/2023 15:15

The police officer quote is very misleading as he is talking as if they were searching for them , when in reality he knows nothing of the actual situation.

The news media themselves should stop reporting until they actually know something.

Sadly, I don't think this will be a good outcome, so it's pointless all these people commenting in the news.

belgiumchocolates · 21/11/2023 15:16

Praying they are found safe and well 💙

I agree. Missing would involve questions you would have thought.

skyeisthelimit · 21/11/2023 15:17

I also think that if it was good news, then the police would have announced it immediately.

They are presumably contacting families etc at the moment and cannot give out anything.
