It all sounds very ominous, poor boys.

I'm not particularly surprised by the phones being out of battery, DS often goes out with his on about 3% before he's even set off. I suppose the more concerning thing is that nobody has been in a position to charge their phone at all in the intervening period.

I agree with this. Fair enough for the thread to be posted with locations (although I'm sure locals will be aware anyway) but endless speculation about why they're there, what you think their parents did wrong etc is just awful. If there is bad news how do you think the parents would feel if they found this- you need to remember that they might not be on MN now but they may find it in the future.

You only have to type “teens north wales” into Google and this thread is on the first page, sixth hit down.

It is ridiculous to think that the family, or people close to the family, won’t ever see it.

Sounds promising about the ambulances - fingers crossed

not unless they had their lights on.

The parents haven't done anything wrong.

But if you have a kid who is adventurous, please encourage them to learn to map read and let someone - even if it's not you - know what you are doing. Could be a mate.

We should teach teenagers to respect the dangers of areas like this, regardless of what outcome this awful story has.

If that is the only positive thing about what happens, then that's something.

That's not saying 'dont go camping' it's saying be aware of the risks and act accordingly.

YourWinter · 21/11/2023 13:41

Sadly a group of teenagers going out in a car are generally more likely to get into difficulty than a group going camping.

I knew it would be you before I even read the post. Why bother posting just to put other posters down in your usual supercilious manner. Who are you helping exactly?

Surely you have the wit to realise that most people will empathise and want to talk about it - and who the hell are you to stick your nose in to tell them off about it? In the same sprit then, shove off!

Horrible to speculate but I’m going to..

So many absolutely macabre wannabe Miss Marples on this thread. (Not the first quote here, obvs...)

Nameshame · 21/11/2023 13:43

We stay in the area regularly in a camper van during winter. Even unused, the power drains from phones etc quickly overnight due to the cold.

Jellycats4life · 21/11/2023 13:43

The announcements - car found, ambulances on scene - seem to point towards bad news, and not good news, as some people are speculating.

thebabessavedme · 21/11/2023 13:44

Its all very well to 'raise awareness ' of situations on social media, but please, I saw the press conference this morning of the report on the investigation into Nicola Bulleys disappearance . That was an absolute social media circus and really bought out the weirdos, the speculation was vile and a lot was directed towards her husband. We can all have thoughts but we don't KNOW ANYTHING!, lets not put more families though this, their own thoughts and worries must be terrible enough without seeing any of this shit.

DogInATent · 21/11/2023 13:44

So many absolutely macabre wannabe Miss Marples on this thread.

It seems the lessons learned from the Nicola Bulley case have been forgotten very quickly. As expected.

SheIsStuck23 · 21/11/2023 13:44

Ambulances at the scene doesn’t always indicate good news unfortunately…. especially if an air helicopter has already been and gone.

Hopefully but the ambulances were called just after 10am, that's a long time to be on the scene.

romatheroamer · 21/11/2023 13:46

Totally confused by this. After 10 am emergency services attended an incident, as reported by them. But latest report says ambulances going through cordon. Was 10am incident sthg unrelated?

Mirabai · 21/11/2023 13:47

RedToothBrush · 21/11/2023 13:23

No I wouldn't expect them to. It's the fact that none of them would be unable to respond and the batteries have all gone flat that suggests something has happened to them all.

A hill walking accident isn't really consistent with this as it's rare for all four to end up injured. You would have expected one of them to turn up by now.

It's the fact that none of them have, that's the issue. It suggests that for some reason they can't

Yes I agree with that. Either that or there’s no signal.

Anonymouslyposting · 21/11/2023 13:48

Findapath · 21/11/2023 13:26

Horrible to speculate but I’m going to.. my eldest is a caver and knows the area. He says the car is near where he parks to go caving. Which could explain why no phone signal. Who knows though and awful for them and families

This was my first thought once I heard the area too. Very much hope we are wrong and they are safe.

I'd have thought those ambulances have been there all the time since 10am. Maybe waiting to transport the boys to hospital.

I expect they were found at 10am. The police will be just going through all the processes, communicating with the families and so on, before making a public announcement.

Wanttobeok · 21/11/2023 13:48

Christ, this is like Nicola Bulley all over again with all the speculation.

Think about their families for goodness sake

canIdigitnoofcoursenot · 21/11/2023 13:49

This ^

I think my DD goes to the same college as these boys and sadly a 17 y o boy from the college was killed in a car accident a couple of months ago. That road in N Wales is twisty, not great for someone who has presumably just passed their test. I feel so sorry for the families.

hoteltango · 21/11/2023 13:49

If the car had crashed, I would expect the Fire Service to also be involved.

It could be that the ambulances were called in to be available if the boys were found nearby.

Fire engine in the article pictures.

More likely they've just been stood down if both have left at the same time.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 21/11/2023 13:51

masterbeth Most are not speculating, just concerned.

I'm wondering why you and your ilk are here though? To rub your thighs in delight and add your wisdom, or lack thereof? Sad.

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 21/11/2023 13:52

This does not seem a blame situation !

Road accidents happen all the time but I think that none of us prevent our teens from being outside where the danger lies.

These were youngsters in a car together in difficult road conditions and on a road that experienced drivers find hard-going. They do these things and get experience... most are lucky and get away with near misses/small accidents but not all do.

Like everyone else I so hope that they can be rescued. Our health and emergency services (how every underfunded and overworked) are very experienced and very good on this. If it is possible - they will do it.

(We are all talking about this because is one of our own worst fears - and because we feel for the boys and for their parents but can do nothing to help.)

tumblebumbleweed · 21/11/2023 13:52

I think it's becoming clearer this won't have a happy ending. One only has to see the Twitter updates re forensic vans now in situ .
