Dreadful. I think all the speculation about what has happened is entirely unhelpful especially that it was deliberate.

Doteycat · 21/11/2023 13:24

Oh the poor lads. God knows what they have been through no matter what.

MossGrowsFat · 21/11/2023 13:24

BBC says North Wales Police have now deleted their tweet saying they had 'concerns' for the missing boys.

This is not normally good news.

SheIsStuck23 · 21/11/2023 13:24

I don’t think the phone issue is strange at all.

Most phones can’t even last 24 hours without needing a charge at some point so it’s pretty obvious that if there’s been a crash and something has happened to the boys then the phones would all be dead.

Chersfrozenface · 21/11/2023 13:25

Doteycat · 21/11/2023 13:13

All 4 fones dead is bizarre is it not?

Not if they switched them off deliberately so the couldn't be traced. Given that at least one reportedly lied about where he was going to be

SofiYol · 21/11/2023 13:25

There’s a lot of assumption on this thread.

We lost a very close family member in a traumatic accident and I can tell you that many of us were on the internet. Not immediately, but when you can’t sleep and your pacing the house in the small hours yes, there were times we googled to see what was being said about our loved ones, I spent many hours correcting posts making disgusting assumptions because I felt like I wanted to defend them. What do you think people do with all that time when they can’t sleep for weeks, don’t leave the house and are sat waiting for news to trickle in?

I really hope this is not as we all fear, and that by some miracle the boys are ok.

ButterOllocks · 21/11/2023 13:25

Once the parents are informed - good or bad news - we will find out - I fear it's the latter though 😪

Findapath · 21/11/2023 13:26

Horrible to speculate but I’m going to.. my eldest is a caver and knows the area. He says the car is near where he parks to go caving. Which could explain why no phone signal. Who knows though and awful for them and families

MonaDaVinci · 21/11/2023 13:27

Come on boys, I'm hoping for the best x

Their poor families must be out of their minds with worry. Praying they are safe and sheltering.

This is what I’m praying for too. Sheltering in the caves, possibly unwell and injured, but at least alive 🤞

I agree with this. Fair enough for the thread to be posted with locations (although I'm sure locals will be aware anyway) but endless speculation about why they're there, what you think their parents did wrong etc is just awful. If there is bad news how do you think the parents would feel if they found this- you need to remember that they might not be on MN now but they may find it in the future.

Dominoeffecter · 21/11/2023 13:30

God, hope they are ok. Poor families must be driven to distraction

Stringagal · 21/11/2023 13:30

I’d urge all of you with kids with phones to buy them decent powerbanks this Christmas. It might not have made a difference in this case, but they are such a handy thing to take on a day out or weekend trip.

All phones being dead is odd no matter how you try to spin it.

I imagine the odds off four phones dying in a car crash or similar are pretty high.

Not unless they all ran out of battery at the same time.....after 3 days it would probably be expected...

HappySolomon · 21/11/2023 13:31

The air ambulance HLE61 was the one that was dispatched from the Welsh Air Ambulance. It departed around 10:45am and arrived approx 11:22am.

It then departed from the scene at a short while later, and went straight to the airport. It did NOT go to a hospital. Just to put that here for all the people commenting on 'the 'copter is still there'. It is not. It went back to base.

I doubt it was just doing a drop and run. So it seems maybe there was no need for it to stay there. It's not looking good at all is it :(

megletthesecond · 21/11/2023 13:32

The police deleted the missing tweet a while ago. They will know what has happened. Hopefully the air ambulances were a good sign.

ferretface · 21/11/2023 13:34

Re caving - one of my family works in cave rescue and in the event of an incident usually there would be a report that a cave rescue team plus hazardous area response team has been called to the scene. The fact that the emergency service response is a more standard set doesn't suggest a cave incident but obviously very little is known. Hoping the best for these boys and their families.

TallulahBetty · 21/11/2023 13:34

Some of you are surprised that smartphones, with all the tech/apps on there, and in an area with very little signal, have all died since Sunday? I'm amazed. Mine wouldn't last 18 hours without dying.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 21/11/2023 13:34

MasterBeth · 21/11/2023 12:05

Who is helping anyone by "raising awareness" of their worst fears on Mumsnet? It just spreads a mood of helplessness and panic. Everyone will feel sympathy for their families, but speculating on the most terrible possibilities isn't helping anyone.

I knew it would be you before I even read the post. Why bother posting just to put other posters down in your usual supercilious manner. Who are you helping exactly?

Surely you have the wit to realise that most people will empathise and want to talk about it - and who the hell are you to stick your nose in to tell them off about it? In the same sprit then, shove off!

I imagine if it was a positive or promising outcome then the news would have been made public.

I would have imagined it would be announced very quickly if the boys had been found alive and well.

I thought exactly the same.

Ambulances drive through cordonIn the past few minutes two Wales ambulance service vehicles have driven through the police cordon, according to Brendon Williams, one of our reporters at the scene.

BBC NEWS just now ^

alrighthen · 21/11/2023 13:37

Sounds promising about the ambulances - fingers crossed
