How rude was Cliff Richard to Alison Hammond?! 😲

Hi,

Had TM on in the background earlier and I was absolutely shocked at how casually rude Cliff Richard was to Alison Hammond. Not directly to her, but MASSIVELY inconsiderate and offensive nevertheless.

He was talking about the reason he missed his chance to meet Elvis and he explained that Elvis was overweight at the time and he knew he'd put up a picture on his wall of him and Elvis, but didn't want to if he "overweight and didn't look good" 🤨🙄 He went on to say something else not looking good if you were carrying extra weight and you could see how upset Alison was. She came back with something and tried to be humorous about it, but I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't want to call him out on it there and then. And obviously it won't have just been Alison who would have been offended by his clumsy, tone deaf comments.

Did anyone see it? So bad 🫤

If he is guilty of a crime, sadly it will probably take his death for anyone to obtain any kind of justice.
I don't think any of us on here could be his judge/jury/executioner though, unless, of course, you're a victim.
I thought this thread was about his treatment of AH on TM?

RudsyFarmer · 20/11/2023 16:02

I’d rather be fat than Cliff Richards any day.

porridgeisbae · 20/11/2023 16:02

he didn't look great at the end -certainly v unhealthy. Whereas AH looks good

She looks and is very overweight TBF and that is the trait he was talking about. Someone who's like that will know an overweight person when they see it. If it's a thing for them (as it is for a lot of us) they won't miss it.

Fizbosshoes · 20/11/2023 16:03

I saw an interview with Cliff probably about 10 years ago and the interviewer mentioned his latest calendar where he was wearing tiny denim shorts and iirc no top. He said he worked really hard to keep in shape for fear of being compared unfavourably to younger male popstars (or words to that effect) It was as if he felt he had the same fan base as the current boybands!

As if you'd go into WH smiths intending to buy a One Direction calendar ....and then change your mind when you saw Cliff in his hotpants ....🤢🤣

Roussette · 20/11/2023 16:03

Well... he showed himself up big time on This Morning. And he should stop wheeling out that story again and again. I googled it and he was saying the same back in 2020, 2022 and both times sparked an outrage. He obviously doesn't care. What a twat

Roussette · 20/11/2023 15:59

No. And I thought you wanted conversation on this stopped? You are fanning the flames.

If you know something, please go to the police. Don't make vague suggestions on a public forum...

RestingCatsArseFace · 20/11/2023 16:04

He is probably used to being called Cliff Richards by now, but if you are interviewing someone surely you should try to get their name right. (Not the point in question but still...). There is no 's'.

I'm not a fan of CR, was never a fan of Elvis either, both of them seem to have had disorders to do with food. Many people do.

I watched the clip to find out what it was all about, and all he did was explain how he felt at the time. He wasn't rude to Alison Hammond. She clearly isn't happy about her weight and people jumped to defend her size even though he wasn't insulting her, simply pointing out that he didn't want a photo of himself with Elvis that wasn't going to be great to look at.

No doubt there will be calls to sue him for this.

I have no time for the man but find this all ridiculous.

Look... it was something that came from the Police, OK? Can we end the conversation on this now? Or do you want to continue to dig the dirt.

justasking111 · 20/11/2023 16:07

Old men generally have no filter. I've been taken aback a number of times. Awful and embarrassing at times

porridgeisbae · 20/11/2023 16:07

Has she lost weight? I just googled and she does better than a couple of years ago. Maybe they dress her better.

Apparently she disappeared at one point in the show today and was replaced by Dermot.

I don't watch it.

porridgeisbae · 20/11/2023 16:08

Look... it was something that came from the Police, OK?

They dropped all of it and apologised.

funbags3 · 20/11/2023 16:09

I never liked her on BB but have since warmed to her. She seems to bring out the best in people, when she interviews them, which is quite rare. Cliff should have kept his fat shaming to himself.

The raid on his house? That's not a secret... It was based on baseless accusations and came to nothing, and the BBC had a lot to answer for after that.

Roussette · 20/11/2023 16:10

No, not that Charing.

Atlhough he did get a good payout on that.

43ontherocksporfavor · 20/11/2023 16:13

Yeah I thought that too. Showed himself up there. I thought her come back was good. He looks like he needs a good meal!

Cliff's a wrong 'un.

Really? You know him do you?

Alison is overweight and massively so. There is no denying that

God some people on here are so nasty. About someone who's given his whole life to enertaining others and worked tirelessly for charity and good causes, who has been treated appalling by the police and the BBC in the past. Alison Hammond is gorgeous and would have taken no notice, she works in tv and must be very confident to deal with various people. I wish people would stop and think before stating someone is a 'wrong un'. We all know what you are implying, so you are either homophobic or suggesting something very very bad, I hope this thread gets removed.

Edited

I totally agree! Smacks of ageism too. I hate this whole attitude that if you're older, you don't have a clue!

Come back to me Cliff haters when you have had ONE FRACTION of the successful career he has had!

I think too it was proven that he was NOT a "wrong 'un' either, if you care to check your facts before you make libellous digs!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 20/11/2023 16:18

Well, Elvis was a superstar who is still idolised and memorialised to this day. Cliff Richard, not so much. He looks like a cadaver and he will never achieve that status.

I like Alison Hammond; I'm sure she's had comments about her weight before and worse than that. She's a sweet woman though who most definitely doesn't look like a cadaver.

Nobody is denying that. This thread isn't about whether AH is overweight or not. It's about whether CR is a rude, creepy man. Which he is. No denying that either.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 20/11/2023 16:20

@CharingX976 well apparently Sue Barker’s parents weren’t happy with the age gap in their relationship even though she was 25 and he was 41.

I agree with you to an extent, he’s not guilty of anything as far as anyone knows but as in the case of Jimmy Savile etc people have raised concerns about him before and look where that got them. I’m not tarring Cliff with the same brush as Jimmy by any means.

And re the magazine, of course Cliff’s PR people will have liaised with them to ensure that the youthful, handsome pop star image was portrayed to their readers who as I said before were young girls. At least with David Cassidy, Adam Ant etc they were good looking and younger girls liked them.

43ontherocksporfavor · 20/11/2023 16:21

I really thought he was going to say Elvis loooked ill and bloated ( he was) and not just from overeating but the drugs he was taking. He could have said he didn’t want to remember him like that. But no he talked about the weight. He could have met him and not put the photo up, if, as he said, he was his idol. Awful.

Westfacing · 20/11/2023 16:23

I've just watched it to see what the fuss was about.

I can't for the life of me understand why you would say such a thing... that you didn't want a photo with Elvis because Elvis had put on weight?

PPs have said he's repeated this story before - just why would you repeat something that's so silly and doesn't present you in a great light!

Lots of celebs repeat old anecdotes but usually they're interesting and funny along the lines of they once turned down the Beatles, or dissed Marlon Brando - something worthy of re-telling!

mydogisthebest · 20/11/2023 16:23

Roussette · 20/11/2023 15:55

As I said... for me, it's not just 'a feeling' but I shall say no more

Well if you have a "feeling" than he must have done wrong. How pathetic you sound.

I prefer Cliff to mouthy I love myself Hammond any day. She is so false with that awful laugh and "babes" all the time. Awful woman

ManateeFair · 20/11/2023 15:52

He's on TV because a lot of older people like him and there aren't that many people from the old days you can get on like that - old biddies don't exactly like the Rolling Stones etc

'Old biddies' are exactly the people who made the Rolling Stones a success.

My MIL, mum and dad, all of whom are their 80s, all love the Rolling Stones. None of them can stand Cliff. My parents didn't even like Cliff in the 50s, let alone now!

As my mum invariably says whenever she sees him on telly, "Ugh, he's always been an embarrassment".

I am old and I love the Stones! finally fulfilled my ambition of seeing them live in 2018 , thought it would be ok and quite enjoyable in a nostalgic way. They were mind-blowingly good, best gig I have ever been to (and I have been to plenty). Charlie Watts was still alive which makes it extra special to look back on, The place was rammed , people of all ages all dancing and singing. Jagger was around 75 at the time and had the energy of someone half his age. They have also written some classic songs that will long outlive them, Gimme Shelter, Wild Horses, Beast of Burden, Jumping Jack Flash, Paint it Black, Miss You, the list goes on and on. Devil Woman and Wired for Sound cannot hold a candle to the ir golden period of creativity. Of course their pomp was a long time ago, but they are incredible musicians whose cultural influences are huge
Keith Richards or Cliff Richard , who do you reckon has had the most fulfilling life?
