Thread 11 - TalkLair: “The candle flame gutters. Its little pool of light trembles.”

Whoops, missed the filling up of the previous thread! (thread 10).

Although the nights are gradually drawing in, the new lair of JTT escapees is all cosy and homey inside. The hearth is glowing, the walls covered in dubious artwork, books by non-approved authors line the shelves, rugs are down on the floors (and assorted pets curled up on them).

We just won’t mention the gnawed bones of our prey over there in the corner of the cave…

I've heard that it can grow back curly and a bit thicker so if I lose mine I'm hoping for that because my hair is really fine. It's also on the sort of wavy side so curls and a bit more body would be a total result. Chances are I won't lose it because I'm not having much in the way of chemo.

MouseMinge · 24/11/2023 21:41

Multi coloured. Although to be fair I'll probably wear a long red one and be like a cancer mermaid!😁

SqueakyDinosaur · 24/11/2023 21:51

But just as important, what are you planning to read while incapacitated? I worked my way through the Cazalet books on chemo but they might be a bit twee for you?

Cancer Mermaid should definitely be a fancy dress option.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 24/11/2023 22:06

My step sister had poker straight hair, which grew back curly after chemo. So did the hair of the boy at school who had alopecia - fell out straight and brown, grew back as blond ringlets. So it does seem to be a thing.

SqueakyDinosaur · 24/11/2023 22:12

I'm afraid to say that mine grew back exactly as before!

VictorianBigot · 24/11/2023 22:27

My dad had quite wavy hair and it grew back curlier.

MouseMinge · 24/11/2023 22:31

Funnily enough I have been thinking of reading materials. I discovered a copy of Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell which I haven't read yet so that's on the possible list. Other than that I'm really not sure. I'm currently reading a book that I might give up because it's a bit meh but I can't think what to replace it with. I don't have have my proper reading head on which is v unusual for me so I'll give it more thought when I get my reading head back.

SinnerBoy · 25/11/2023 06:33

Hi Mouse, I'm sorry to hear that you can't have food at Christmas, but your treatment plan sounds very optimistic and I wish you all the best.

(((Mouse)))

Kucinghitam · 25/11/2023 08:25

Oh @MouseMinge so so sorry to hear about the damned cancer. I hope they organise your treatment pronto.

Hi everyone, including those who may not have been following the other thread (womens rights one for exiles and others). I'll mention here that Mancurse has been banned from MN (she doesn't know why) and sends her love to you all, with a special mention of best wishes for @MouseMinge.

xx

SinnerBoy · 25/11/2023 10:13

Oh no! She should email, they banned me a couple of months ago, but changed it to a week's suspension.

It was a parking thread....

Oh! Did they tell you what you did to be banned? I had the impression that a MN ban was a one-way spaghettification trip over the event horizon, but it's handy to know that sometimes reversals are possible.

How on earth did you get banned for a parking thread?

I do hope Mac can appeal.

BezMills · 25/11/2023 10:53

Hurro! Happy decampiversary.

I've enjoyed the exercise thread, which is about as busy as the Spitfires one at the old place. A good bunch of folk.

Oh! Did they tell you what you did to be banned?

No, I just suddenly got logged out and queried it later. I made a bad taste joke about a parking problem, which someone didn't like, even though other posters said it was obviously tongue in cheek.

I agreed to a week's ban and to abide by the posting rules. I can't see what Mavis could have said, she's very calm and measured.

Kucinghitam · 25/11/2023 11:25

I made a bad taste joke

Ah. Yes, there is a minor but vocal contingent of very po-faced types.

A bit of a call-back to previous discussions about sewing, I enjoyed this little video.

MouseMinge · 25/11/2023 13:02

Macnuree must be allowed back!

VictorianBigot · 25/11/2023 13:49

Nooo not Macnurse Sad I hope she’s allowed back soon.

artant · 25/11/2023 16:37

Oh no, I would miss Macnurse if she’s not allowed back!
