November so? I baked these from around this time till Christmas every year for parties, and baked hundreds of them. (Inside the Christmas Tree also a strawberry)

“November so?” The ignorance!!!

In defence of anyone who wants Strawberries in November, do all the posters declaring their virtue by not eating them also not eat anything else grow ourside the UK? We import 50% of our food. Do none of you drink tea and coffee, eat chocolate, lemons, herbs and spices? Do you not purchase any other manufactured items from outside the UK. Everything we do involves stuff being transported thousands of miles around the globe and destroying the planet so it's a bit harsh to be picking on Strawberries in particular which are often imported from much closer to home than other produce and products.

My god they are not in season in the uk, so if you are getting any they are out of season taste shit and have a higher carbon footprint. Start doing your bit.

It's different importing food we cannot grow here - bananas , oranges, tea, coffee, to importing soft fruits out of season that can easily be grown here.

Also bananas and oranages are more robust, have longer lives and can imported and stored in bulk - bananas arrive green and are ripened in warehouses. Tea and coffee arrives ready processed.

Soft fruits are very delicate and have exceedingly short shelf lives so importing them involves a lot of energy and waste.

Seasonal food also tastes best in season. A delicate cream cake or pavlova with fresh ripe summer stawberries in June is a beautiful thing. I am not so sure I would be keen on a fondant iced cupcake cake with a hard turnipy strawberries on top in December!
