I need a good cry. What songs make you cry? I might make a playlist. The Disturbed version of The Sound of Silence gets the tears flowing for me, especially if I sing along loudly, although it's a marmite song here on mn.

@elm26 I’m so pleased you have your daughter.

@comeondover thank you for this thread. I wanted something similar recently and tried lots of Spotify playlists with similar names but they were all lots of very recent stuff that didn’t resonate.

Mine is the Joy Of Living, by Ewan McColl. He wrote it when he was dying and performed it with his wife, Peggy Seager.

There is a song called Flying Visit about a little boy asking for someone to play with. Makes me cry.

Mimi's song from Mimi and the mountain dragon.

I was trying to conceive a few years ago and a song that was out at the time was 7 years old by Lukas Graham.

I'd had a very early loss and was trying to get pregnant again. For about a year I used to hear this song and I used to cry my eyes out thinking I would never be a Mum.

Bryan Ferry's cover of Johnny & Rosie Sad

Thank you all for even more amazing suggestions. I will listen through this evening.

I was listening in the car today to Natalie Merchant's album Ophelia. There are a few on there, including King of May, which she wrote as a tribute to Allen Ginsberg.

Peaceful afternoon - Rufus Wainwright

Namchange101 · 14/11/2023 14:42

I immediately thought of a load of musical theatre songs but came on here and realised it’s a very different theme 🤣
I have a weird one - Wings by Little Mix. I think it’s the harmonies teamed with the defiant lyrics in the chorus that get me. Every time.
