I need a good cry. What songs make you cry? I might make a playlist. The Disturbed version of The Sound of Silence gets the tears flowing for me, especially if I sing along loudly, although it's a marmite song here on mn.

Black by Pearl Jam
Jesus Christ by Brand New

'Puff the Magic Dragon' by Peter, Paul & Mary
'Vincent' by Don McLean
'Slipping Through My Fingers' or 'The Day Before You Came' by Abba

The older I get, the more songs make me cry!

Lovely suggestions by PPs! My list is melancholy yet uplifting, I hope.

Sweet Surrender, by Bread
Everything Is Beautiful, by Ray Stevens
And When I Die, by Blood, Sweat and Tears (composed by Laura Nyro)
Misty, by Errol Garner, or Ella Fitzgerald, or Ray Stevens ... lots of good versions!
Bad Luck, by Neko Case
The Kick Inside, by Kate Bush.

@elm26 💐I hope things are better for you now.

If you go by Hothouse Flowers. It's about the singer's brother dying. Gets me every time.

Letter To a John by Ani DiFranco

Barleysugar86 · 14/11/2023 02:01

Black lab- keep myself awake
Ben Harper - morning yearning

Both just hit me in the feels.

Anything by the foo fighters

KindaDefinitelyMaybe · 14/11/2023 03:00

@MrsHughesPinny - Black is my favourite song ever. My tear jerkers are Miracle of Love by the Eurythmics and Hope There's Someone by Antony and the Johnsons.

Spartak · 14/11/2023 03:09

I heard The girl that never was by James Blunt on the radio the other day. Not usually my type of music at all, but lyrics really got me.

Hibambinos · 14/11/2023 03:18

Patty Lovelace - how can I help you to say goodbye. I listened to this after I lost my darling sister, in a strange way it helped I think.

Lostsadandconfused · 14/11/2023 05:05

Why... Annie Lennox.

morbidcuriosity · 14/11/2023 05:41

Mad World, Gary Jules
Creep, Radiohead
Nobody Knows, Pink
You are not alone, Micheal Jackson

Goldenboysmum · 14/11/2023 06:11

Goodbye, Kenny Rodgers.

One of the songs played at my sons funeral. the song was so beautiful I chose a few lines from it and had them engraved on his headstone.

The line, If I listen to my heart I'll hear you're laughter once more, really says it all for me.

Ykn · 14/11/2023 08:37

Same Mistake - James Blunt

cheapskatemum · 14/11/2023 08:57

Someone like you - Adèle

I just empathise with the subject & find it so sad.

I heard The girl that never was by James Blunt on the radio the other day. Not usually my type of music at all, but lyrics really got me.

Same here. I had to pull over and cry.

jolene8 · 14/11/2023 09:22

Monsters - James Blunt. DP is not a crier but this song got to him (and me).

Stephisaur · 14/11/2023 10:10

Adam's Song - Blink 182
Everything will be alright - The Killers

The lyrics of Adam's Song always get to me, and IDK what it is about the Killers. Maybe it just feels comforting?

elm26 · 14/11/2023 10:19

@comeondover @groovergirl thank you both, I now have a beautiful 6 month old daughter who's healed a massive part of my heart. I carry the others still but I've found peace now ♥️

RenoDakota · 14/11/2023 10:33

Please listen to All That by Sparks, OP.
I have already decided that I am having it at my funeral!

gloriawasright · 14/11/2023 10:51

This woman's work by Kate bush
Every time I hear it I am taken right back to the birth scenes in Shes Having A Baby .

gloriawasright · 14/11/2023 10:55

And Soon by snow patrol .it's about gary lightbodys father who had dementia.
the video shows the two men looking at family photos.
and all the video footage is actual footage from Gary's childhood and young adult hood .
It really is so beautiful but utterly heartbreaking at the same time.
I believe his father has since died.
