What's in your fruit bowl?

Right now?

Mine contains 5 apples, including 4 Granny Smiths deemed 'too sour' to eat Hmm, two stray nerf bullets and Ds1's headphones.

The shopping will arrive tomorrow and the detritus will be evacuated to make room for, you know, actual fruit that will be eaten.

Is yours more interesting?

2 oranges, 2 pears, 1 banana (beside bowl, not in it lol,) and a lighter that probably doesn't work!

OneCup · 12/11/2023 17:54

Bananas, oranges, persimmon, plums, pears.
In the fridge, melon, kiwi, blueberries and further oranges.

I’m at my DM’s, hers is full of Cadbury hero’s Blush

I’ve inherited my mums beautiful pottery bowl ( Portuguese via a charity shop) - it was always full of boring boiled sweets but I’ve turned it into a fruit bowl
Bananas, apples, a persimmon and 2 avocados.
My mum and dad would be shocked by the last two.

wellthatwentwelldinnit · 12/11/2023 18:03

6 bananas , 2 oranges, 2 mangos, 4 apples, 2 pomegranates, a pineapple and 4 lemons. Only because we had our fruit box delivery yesterday...

Normally bananas and apples and the odd mouldy orange.

GingerLiberalFeminist · 12/11/2023 18:52

"yellow sticker" satsumas, five bananas and a bag of conference pears constitute the actual fruit. Then there is also a button and a bag of pistachio nuts which has been there since Christmas. The nuts. Not sure when the button joined the melee

YouWontHearTheLastOfIt · 12/11/2023 18:53

5 apples, 2 lemons, 5 bananas and a plum

Jellykat · 12/11/2023 19:05

3 onions, 2 bananas, an elastic band and a Dr Seuss finger puppet (Thing 2) thats fallen off the notice board

CrushingOnRubies · 12/11/2023 19:06

2 apples, 5 oranges and 1 fig. Mainly on this thread to find out what fruit is suitable for the bowl and what's best for the fridge

HipHouse · 12/11/2023 19:09

6 satsumas (that have been there too long)
3 big oranges
1 apple
3 kiwis
2 lemons

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 12/11/2023 19:11

Shopping came yesterday so it's looking quite good atm. 2.5 bunches of bananas, 5 conference pears, 12 apples & 8 satsumas. There's also a punnet of grapes in the fridge. We're a family of 7 & it usually just about lasts the week.

SagaNorensPorche · 12/11/2023 20:43

3 lemons
6 easy peelers
5 bananas
1 butternut squash

mouthgoingsouth · 12/11/2023 20:53

Two fruit bowls , one a 'stunt' bowl.
Royal Copenhagen one - one apple, three bananas and a large kiwi
Bohemian glass (stunt) one - satsumas

The fruit is not interested but the glass fruit bowl/platter thingy was an absolute steal in a secondhand shop and I have never had something so stunning before. I love filling it with a display of fruit and no one is allowed to eat them until they are transferred over to the other bowl. It's a good job my family love me. https://tinyurl.com/2p9xnrt7

mouthgoingsouth · 12/11/2023 20:55

Damn, I was showing off my fabulous glass dragon plate that I use as a fruit bowl and Mumsnet won't let me post the link. Going to try again

https://www.etsy.com/de-en/listing/1520597605/josef-inwald-for-barolac-art-deco-glass? Behold, the fruit bowl to end all fruit bowls. I use it to display orange or plums and it was a steal in a charity shop.

mouthgoingsouth · 12/11/2023 20:56

Mumsnet, you're making me out to be a liar.

TruthThatsHardAsSteel · 12/11/2023 21:21

4 bananas getting to the "can't eat" point, maybe 8 nice apples from the fruit shop - mix of red and golden delicious (as opposed to Tesco tiny offerings), a box of easy peelers unopened plus about 6-8 still from last time (under estimated the number I got), seedless grapes in the fridge and two tubs with 2 peeled wee oranges in each. I eat all the fruit, my husband has the odd banana and frozen mango etc when he has granola.

It's a cool big fruit bowl we got from amazon with a lid and keeps flies out.! Holds a fair bit too.

@mouthgoingsouth
It's a beautiful bowl but I wouldn't hide it's beauty under stinking nasty satsumas. It needs something more....dragon-y looking and regal.

A dying potted plant that was a gift a few weeks ago 😬
Have pink lady apples and half a watermelon in the fridge. The kids hoovered up the grapes the day I bought them.

AceofPentacles · 13/11/2023 05:47

An avocado, big chunk of ginger, three elderly limes, a work pass for my old job, two mini bottles of hand sanitiser, 5 euro note.

NashvilleQueen · 13/11/2023 06:33

Lemons, limes, bananas & passion fruits

Smurfmurf · 13/11/2023 07:01

20 bananas, 22 apples, an orange and 6 pears.

sparkedsparkle · 13/11/2023 07:11

Some bananas, an avocado and a small packet of sweets...

gofullpelt · 13/11/2023 07:35

Bananas and some under ripe plums. I keep apples in the fridge.

Oh wow! You have such an eye!

DilemmaDelilah · 13/11/2023 08:46

@Pascha Granny Smith's are perfect to make tarte tatin with, and it's really easy if you have some ready made pastry, preferably puff pastry. You will need a flattish pan that can go in the oven, but if you have that, sugar and butter you're set to go.

LovelaceBiggWither · 13/11/2023 08:49

Mangoes, kanzi apples, royal gala apples, mandarins, nectarines, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries.
