My son didn't believe me about a Jacket Potato shop!

Was just reminiscing about massive jacket potatoes (where have all the big ones gone??)

Which led to pondering the demise of Spud U Like 😭😭😭😭😭

My 22 year old son didn't believe a shop that only sold jacket potatoes ever existed until Google provided evidence.

Anyone else remember Spud U Like?

Or got memories of other eateries that have been retired to memory lane?

Theres a jacket potato van in Hyde, Tameside too which do the nicest big jackets

I started getting my spuds from a fruit and veg stall in the market hall, so much nicer than the supermarket ones

Admittedly a few years ago, but had a very underwhelming experience in an Edinburgh mashed potato + sausage restaurant.

The first and only one I've visited was in 2018 in Edinburg around near the station. My bf still reminisces that lunch.

We used stop at a Wendy's somewhere in N London and I loved it because I hated burgers; so so I could have a lovely huge sour cream or cheese and bacon jacket while everyone else had burgers and chips. That was about 35 years ago. I know there are still Wendy's about but haven't seen one in years. I wish more places did a jacket option and that the big black potato ovens were still the method of choice, the taters were amazing.

The Tempting Tattie is on Jeffries Street near the station. I was in a place across the road from it a couple of weeks ago and we were commenting about if still being there. I plan to go there next time i am working in the city centre.

I very rarely go out for lunch at work but I'd make an exception for good jacket potato!

In Melbourne, Australia they have a chain called Spudbar, it's sooo good! Not many beans to be seen on the menu though 😂

The one in Chester had roman ruins in the basement which you could go and look at. Cheese and beans jacket with garlic bread and a drink for a fiver, I still miss it even now!

I'm not sure if it's still there but there was a stall in Lewisham Shopping Centre for years selling cardboard cups of corn. Never seen the appeal!

They’ve got one in Meadowhall! It’s not a weird idea.
