Things people do that make you cringe?

People posting photos of their holiday on social media with a caption like “this is how my Monday morning is looking”. Like calm down Joanne, you’ll be back in the office by next Monday.

Middle management telling me they pay my wages.

People thinking that are different and edgy because they wear Dr Martens (I do still love the boots though)

OP posts:
PeggyPoggleshaw · 11/11/2023 22:01

People with no individuality who spend a fortune just to look the same as everyone else, presumably to 'fit in'. Sheeple who are unable to think for themselves.

randomfemthinker · 11/11/2023 22:02

People who post pile ups above average levels of Christmas gifts for their kids on social media with the caption "it doesn't look much" and so on.

I can understand people using social media for support when going into hospital, and that happens on MN too. It's more the photos that do my head in.

But if they want moral support, then they can just post something with a small amount of detail, rather than just checking in at A&E. Something like "At A&E after hurting my ankle - I need cheering up!". Which is still a bit cringe, but at least gets them the moral support they want.

Or just send messages to the people who are going to be supportive.

It's the cryptic-ness of it that's really cringeworthy.

People allowing their children to stand in shopping trollies….especially if their shoes are minging dirty (actually even if their shoes aren’t that grubby it’s still totally unacceptable in my book).

Totally agree with you.

SilverCocaCola · 11/11/2023 22:11

Adult men who get into fights…

sidebirds · 11/11/2023 22:13

People who say 'eckcetera' instead of 'etcetera' (or who write 'ect.' instead of 'etc.').

(The term comes from Latin: 'et cetera' - which translates as 'and' [et] 'the rest' [cetera]).

PrincessandthePea38 · 11/11/2023 22:15

People posting pictures of themselves helping homeless people or some other charity on social media just for likes & attention 🙄

SilverCocaCola · 11/11/2023 22:19

Women who make their wedding their whole personality, e.g. wear “bride” and then “Wifey” sweaters… And change their social media bios to “Wifey”…

TheKnittedCharacter · 11/11/2023 22:28

Women that say ‘hubby’ or any variation of it.

Women that start posts on here ‘hi mamas’ 🤮

People that scrape their plate.

People that take photos of their food in restaurants (OK, this is my husband but it makes me cringe so much).

MenAndWomenOfYore · 11/11/2023 22:32

Going to the gym with hot pants and a sports bra on. Neighbour let's her 17 year old go to the gym wearing what I would wear swimming.

Luckyduc · 11/11/2023 22:33

People who own dogs.
Imagine if I did a crap and didn't wipe my butt and never wore clothes but sat on your couch, your carpet and all over the place .. people would be cracking up. The thought of a dog doing a poo and not wiping it's butt but lying it's stinky but all over cushions and couches and rugs gives me the box.

Calm down pet. OP was not criticising DMs in fact they said they liked them. It was a certain breed of person who thinks they are cool for wearing them.

Is there any need to be so condescending? You make yourself look rather unpleasant.

Cupcakekiller · 11/11/2023 22:37

Trollies live outside and are surely dirty and food is surely packaged? 😂😂

Also, how do you know people wear Docs to be "edgy and different"? 😂😂 Do you ask them their motivations?

Hamsterinaball · 11/11/2023 22:37

People who don't pick up their dogs shit

People who buy their 1 year old a 'smash cake'... so much waste? Why??

Families on SM who all wear the same Xmas jammies. I don't know why but it really irks me. (Sorry).

Work men who come in and plug their drills into the wall... you going to pay my bill?

HorseySurprise · 11/11/2023 22:38

QS90 · 11/11/2023 18:50

Or pronouncing the "sh" in "schedule".

I thought the sh was the UK pronunciation and the sk the US one.

zeibesaffron · 11/11/2023 22:38

People that put 2nd hand things for sale on a marketplace that are literally £2 cheaper than a brand new ‘thing’ - because they have only bern worn/used 3 times!

Its still used - it is not new!

investmentidea · 11/11/2023 22:39

GoldenKiwi · 10/11/2023 20:07

When people relate food to sex. Eg 'that meal was foodgasmic!' and insert a drooling emoji.

Yuck yuck yuck.

I agree with you although, I think some people maybe saying "should've" not "should have". Similar to how a lot of people pronounce "it's" instead of "it is".

That's pretty comprehensive, given the number of pet owners there must be in the UK!

I don't think dogs actually wipe their arses on the furniture or carpet but never mind.

You're the one missing out on the love of a pet, but lucky dogs/cats that you don't have one!

When men wear really tight trousers.

Edited

And pair them with shoes with no socks 🤢

Msbluebozooka · 11/11/2023 22:41

Women who wear adult school girl shoes

Bluebelle100 · 11/11/2023 22:41

People who pretend to wash their hands, when no-one is around they run the water then put their hands under the drier. Also people who wet their hands, no soap.....uuuggghhh

People who chop up spaghetti before eating it.

Aaah that's me! I'm also an adult who likes Disney and have quite a loud voice. I'm not coming out well from this thread!

Dillane · 11/11/2023 22:44

Anyone over the age of 5 using the word ‘icky’.
Anyone of any age using the word ‘lush’.

Shadowsindarkplaces · 10/11/2023 20:08

Other extreme, men wearing tatty, grubby joggers with bollocks flapping. Tradesmen are dreadful for this. One had a shaped patch over the nethers it looked like a floppy cod piece. Gross.

Erggggh yes, 100% the floppy bollocks in joggers
