Things people do that make you cringe?

People posting photos of their holiday on social media with a caption like “this is how my Monday morning is looking”. Like calm down Joanne, you’ll be back in the office by next Monday.

Middle management telling me they pay my wages.

People thinking that are different and edgy because they wear Dr Martens (I do still love the boots though)

Parents (normally mums) who hear or see their DCs doing something they perceive as ‘adorable’ in public and then look for validation for anyone standing around them.

Nope. Enjoy your kids by all means but your DC aren’t worthy of applause or warm looks by passers by. And sometimes ‘adorable’ is at best meh and at worst obnoxious

myfaceismyown · 11/11/2023 21:28

@TheShellBeach I don't want my shopping to have outdoor shoe dirt on it! I wash my veg but not things in packets. Do you want me to sanitise all my shopping? Seriously, life is too short. I never let my DCs do this. The trolley is for shopping NOT a playground - and all those wonky wheels can't be helped by loads that bounce up and down..... totally crazy if you think this is ok. It is not!!!!

People allowing their children to stand in shopping trollies….especially if their shoes are minging dirty (actually even if their shoes aren’t that grubby it’s still totally unacceptable in my book).

And dangerous

Ibravedaflood I drink squash because I don't like water and its the only way I can drink enough water. I drink it really weak just to give it some taste. Why is it a problem because I'm an adult. This is the third time in a week I have heard this. Just out of curiosity I'd like to know what is actually wrong with it. I also eat ice cream and jelly on occasion.

This is MN. You’re only allowed water and a Massive Salad. 😉

BitofaStramash · 11/11/2023 21:32

Dressing children in identical clothes
Mums and daughters wearing identical clothes
Families Christmas PJs
Christmas trees up in October/ November
Young girls thinking they need to wear make up / start shaving / parents encouraging this
Pierced ears on little children

CosilyRosily · 11/11/2023 21:33

Licking yogurt lids 😵‍💫

TerrysNeapolitan · 11/11/2023 21:34

Lip filled Huns on social media, 'to the moons and backs', 'making memories', 'The Fam', holibobs, MTMs, 'Crimbo', astroturf, people who eat items in a supermarket before getting to the checkout - when did this become a undisciplined thing? Anyone leaving the house in nightwear, all the plastic Christmas tat that is destined for landfill in shops right now, people sleeping in bed with a dog, those mucky touch screens in fast food places etc - will not touch one, people who don't wash their hands in public toilets, parents who let their kids run riot in shops (last night two chav mums let their children destroy a complete display in a supermarket then take the cans of beans and put them in the freezers - their reactions "aww chicken was ya doin' - basically cringe at such thickos spawning the next generation......I could go on

LubyLooTwo · 11/11/2023 21:35

Whats wrong with squash? Cheap, low calories and tasty.

Watching people pull multiple ridiculous faces trying to look 'sexy' while attempting to take a selfie in public

Those boys/men you sometimes see (well I do), doing a wheelie on a bike down the street while wearing this really serious po-faced expression. Mate, you are doing a wheelie, you should be looking joyful, or like you're showing off, but this 'I can do a wheelie but I'm well hard' look is so ridiculous!

Head to foot clothes covered in designer logos - I saw a bloke on the tube where everything head to foot said BALENCIAGA all over it. Expensive, but not classy.

The wheelie thing really made me laugh- so true.

Cleverlittleboy · 11/11/2023 21:36

Looking at every man as if he's a pervert, just because he says good morning.

Conky1975 · 11/11/2023 21:37

Went to an open day for an outstanding London secondary school where parents are known to move to get into catchment.

Headteacher said ‘we was’ on a number of occasions.

I walked out.

WhatHaveIDoneNo3 · 10/11/2023 20:10

People who say ‘brought’ instead of ‘bought’ 😬

Or 'brung' instead of 'brought'.
Or 'writ' instead of 'wrote'.
Or people who say, "Can you borrow me" instead of "Can you lend me".

myfaceismyown · 11/11/2023 21:39

People who say "its really important" when it really isn't
Anyone who does not let someone with one item jump a queue of loaded trolleys
Any politician - particular the children from top public schools who fell into politics as mummy thought their Latin/philosophy/English Lit degree was not financilally viable...
And my big one. People who stare (or chuckles under their breath) at anyone who visably displays special needs . I have a lot of experience as an ex wheelchair user and have an adult DS with SEN. Really makes my skin crawl. We are sentient people with real feelings you know? I experienced it this evening in Ikea and don't want to launch into an explanation every time. FGS its 2023.

Kittykatastrophe · 11/11/2023 21:43

People who say “touch base “
or “reach out”
or “yeah yeah “ really quickly before you’ve finished your sentence

Are you sure it's looking for validation? Normally if I do this it is because I think the DC are verging on obnoxious (e.g. a bit louder than I would like) and I want to assess if surrounding people are being bothered by it.

LilyPAnderson · 11/11/2023 21:48

<<You've thought about this a lot, haven't you?<<
Not half as much as the talentless celebs and their promoters think about how they're next going to force themselves in our faces lol.

Howbizarre22 · 11/11/2023 21:49

Every single person with a slightly different personality being labelled as neurodiverse

Posee · 11/11/2023 21:49

Parents who post photos of their kids sick in hospital. It’s unnecessary and invasive.

People who call women, girls. More so when a man does it.

Asking for information that can be easily found on Google.

”Fur parents,” and their use of words such as “doggo, fur baby, puppo,” these people are always the morons with retractable leads.

The wine and coffee “mummay” Huns on the school run, all looking like clones with their new balance trainers, gym shark leggings and sleeping bag coats.

myfaceismyown · 11/11/2023 21:50

@BitofaStramash Read this and it brought back a nightmare. Turns out my parents were quite well off but my DF used to give my DM a relatively small allowance. A pittance considering his earnings. She would buy adult fabric and make a dress for her, and my sister and I from the same fabric. Whatever she made I had to wear it twice as the younger daughter. I have never known such hell. Think puke green seventies polycotton printed with autumn leaves. Fast forward, my own DD want to dress like me! AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH please break me out of this hell hole!

Aria999 - no, full sympathy and support for those parents.

Its always accompanied by a smug ‘that’s what I produced’ smile at the bystanders. That’s how you know!

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 10/11/2023 19:46

Adults liking Disney.

This!!
and people who claim to be their pet’s
mummy.
those that have a ‘hubby’, a ‘bestie’ or call their partner babe/hun.

Squeaky2023 · 11/11/2023 21:54

Lovely woman, but "Charlotte", please can you not post your pole dancing videos on FB? Your gusset flashing make me cringe and my bum hole clench.
Disclaimer: I didn't actually click on the footage; DH showed it to me to make me cringe.

Posee · 11/11/2023 21:54

I have a friend like this… sheer energy vampire. It’s exhausting. She is now under a Colin Robinson in my contact list.

RestingMurderousFace · 11/11/2023 21:59

Breathe.

Posee · 11/11/2023 22:01

Clearly walk about in a full Stitch get up to be so pissy about what irritates someone. I agree it’s cringey. Grow up 😂
