I thought I had read this thread before but can’t seem to find it, so I’ll ask again. What’s the best advice that you’ve ever received? I’m in need of some inspiration. My two are:
Don’t take criticism from someone who you wouldn’t take advice from; and
Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good

Fuck it.

Literally, fuck it. Look after your loved ones and others and fuck everything else. Who cares? Especially with work

AngryBirdsNoMore · 09/11/2023 22:58

You can’t pour from an empty jug. Or, put another way, put your own gas mask on first.

morrrr · 09/11/2023 22:59

@Alifestylechoice love this!!! This is exactly how I feel all the time, but it seems so few people feel this way.

Houseplanter · 09/11/2023 23:00

The only reason to look down on someone is to give them a hand up.

GoodnightJude1 · 09/11/2023 23:01

Don’t shit on your own doorstep.

Sunshineandrainbow · 09/11/2023 23:02

Those who fear to fail with never fly.

Alifestylechoice · 09/11/2023 23:02

@morrrr come round, hang out, and fuck it all

Alifestylechoice · 09/11/2023 23:03

Those who fear to fail with never fly.

hahahaha love these jokey ones

That the comfort zone is a wonderful place, but nothing ever grows there.

Cas112 · 09/11/2023 23:04

Everything will be ok in the end and if it's not ok it's not the end

I guess it's not the best or even most logical advice but for some reason it's always given me comfort and I do always think about it in tough times.

HaveALaff · 09/11/2023 23:05

Don't go to bed on an argument (with your spouse)

quivers · 09/11/2023 23:05

Have faith in your own ability and trust yourself.

Also - Not your circus, not your monkeys!

Knitgoodwoman · 09/11/2023 23:06

Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right.

A ship is safe in the harbour, but that isn’t what ships are built for.

HappyHappyy · 09/11/2023 23:08

'Don't get involved'.

Simple, but effective.

PinkyDinkyDoodle · 09/11/2023 23:08

Parent the child you have, not the child you imagined.

All fed, none dead is a perfectly acceptable level of parenting sometimes.

Remagirl · 09/11/2023 23:08

Your gut feeling is usually right. Listen to it especially when it relates to people.

SkaneTos · 09/11/2023 23:08

Don't be lazy.

(I'm lazy, so it's good advice to me).

Tilllly · 09/11/2023 23:08

You can't change how people behave, only how you react to it

OldTinHat · 09/11/2023 23:10

Calm seas never made a good sailor.

This too will pass.

Malarandras · 09/11/2023 23:10

The best advice was to not care about what other people think of me. Took me too damn long to take that advice though! Did it finally and it was awesome 😎

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 09/11/2023 23:10

No matter how good a friend they are, if you've ever witnessed them treat another friend badly take care because one day it will be you

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 09/11/2023 23:11

Oh and

Watch and see if the smile meets their eyes

Alifestylechoice · 09/11/2023 23:14

Everything will be ok in the end and if it's not ok it's not the end

and sometimes it is the end. And that’s ok

Don't be lazy

why not? I love being lazy. It’s enjoyable

HaveALaff · 09/11/2023 23:20

Never make a decision when you have your angry/sad hat on.

This too shall pass.

There are no happy endings, so have a happy now.

You should never have to brake on the motorway.
