Jacket Potato Fillings

NorthernLiner · 07/11/2023 16:58

Tonight’s fillings are leftover chilli, and cheese and beans for the little ones.

What are your favourite fillings?
I love cold fillings of coronation chicken, prawn in a Marie Rose sauce and tuna mayo with red onion.

Must haves are butter, and a crisp salad.

CesareBorgia · 07/11/2023 18:37

Coleslaw is nice in summer

MotherOfVizslas · 07/11/2023 18:38

Just butter with a sprinkling of salt and loads of coarse ground pepper

Broccoli cheese too!

Wendy's used to do a gorgeous jacket potato with broccoli and cheese sauce

CoffeeBeansGalore · 07/11/2023 18:41

Chicken and bacon in mustard mayo. Sslad & coleslaw on the side.

glittereyelash · 07/11/2023 18:49

Love a good baked spud. I like with pulled pork and frizzled onions, gruyere cheese and spring onions, burnt end beans and coleslaw or with lots of different mushrooms and garlic butter.

Chickenpie35 · 07/11/2023 18:57

Last night we had left over braised steak & gravy over jacket potato with peas on the side it was amazing.

Usually have
Beans, tuna, cheese, Coleslaw. Beans on bottom.

Or

Scoop the inside out & mix with fish fingers & philadelphia then put back in oven & some beans on the side 🤤👌

Grated mature cheddar, beans, load of coleslaw on top....black pepper and then a bit of hot pepper sauce. Food of the gods!

I've just had it! Grin

quivers · 07/11/2023 19:12

Baked beans with whatever additions you have lying around handy mixed in -mushrooms, crispy bacon, onion, barbecue sauce, chopped sausage, mixed herbs, garlic, chorizo, black pepper, tabasco, wholegrain mustard.... and grated mature cheddar on the top for luck.

I want one now!

TroysMammy · 07/11/2023 19:14

Spud-u-like used to do a wonderful filling of roast chicken, hard boiled egg, celery, tomato, a little bit of onion and mayonnaise.

UdderlyPumpkin · 07/11/2023 19:17

I’ve never had beans on a jacket, is that odd?

the Outback Steakhouse ‘loaded baked potato’ is the one. Bacon, cheese, spring onions and sour cream. Drool

vernatheraven · 07/11/2023 19:24

Chilli and cheese
Tuna and sweetcorn with cheese

I never really deviate from these as they are both my fave's

GladWhere · 07/11/2023 19:31

Tinned red salmon, mayo, chopped up cucumber and salt. Delicious 😋

Cantbelieve20 · 07/11/2023 19:34

Pulled pork and coleslaw- yum!

Holly2285 · 07/11/2023 19:36

Tuna mayo and cheese or on a really cold day and chilli and cheese

Sassy306 · 07/11/2023 19:41

Corn beef and baked beans, heat together in the same pot so the corned beef melts unit the bean sauce. Add a knob of butter... Best filling ever 😋

mogtheexcellent · 07/11/2023 19:42

Bolognese. I batch cook it and keep a few single portions in the freezer just for jacket pots.

I also like scooping the insides out and mixing huumus and carrot in then a bit more cheese on top and back in the oven. Or ham and cheese. Or blue cheese and bacon.

I like a crispy skin as well. So its cook in microwave and finish in oven with oil and salt to make crispy.

Therealjudgejudy · 07/11/2023 19:44

Loads of butter, cheese beans and coleslaw.

Or sour cream instead of the coleslaw with the rest as above.

Some great toppings

Oxborn · 07/11/2023 19:50

Beans bacon cheese and mushrooms

Watto1 · 07/11/2023 19:55

A cafe near me does gorgeous baked potatoes with homemade coleslaw and cheese. Absolutely delicious. Unfortunately one time the waiter misheard me and served me a potato with coleslaw and beans. Not so delicious!

Gingerkittykat · 07/11/2023 19:55

Haggis and either neeps or root veg mash.

Roaminginthegloaming · 07/11/2023 20:41

@UdderlyPumpkin - you mentioned the ‘Outback Steakhouse’ so I’m assuming you’re in the USA? I had Australian expat friends when I lived in the States and they used to laugh at the menu items, which to them seemed more American than Australian? Btw do they still have the enormous Onion Bloomer (or whatever it was/is called?).

It is absolutely a thing in the UK to have baked beans on top of a baked potato. Not the American kind which has pork fat floating at the top of the can….but you can buy Heinz Vegetarian Beans which is the nearest equivalent to those in the UK - where incidentally Heinz Baked Beans is the brand leader in the UK. Haricot beans are used in the US and UK versions…..although the tomato sauce in the US is sweeter than the British version. You can frequently find British Heinz Baked Beans (turquoise and black label on the can) in the international aisle (sometimes with the Irish imports) in the larger supermarkets.

Give it a try! I’m sure you will enjoy it!

Ellenanora7 · 07/11/2023 20:43

I do mine in the air fryer now, don't do anything with them just bung them in for an hour, they are amazing, I'll have them with butter broccoli and cheese, the other with butter coleslaw and maybe cheese too.

Fried egg is good, I actually will try most things with a baked potato but not beans or tuna.

StarDolphins · 07/11/2023 20:49

Ooh I must put butter on! I usually just tip the olive oil/salt from the foil & mash it up!

Boursin & rocket
cheese & beans
chilli & cheese
bolognaise

bellaroo92 · 07/11/2023 20:52

Beans and cottage cheese together beans first so nice
