If the salary didn’t matter and you could do any job, what would it be?

Just asking because I was thinking I’d probably work with children in some capacity but maybe only two days a week and spend the rest of the time with my own DC. That would not be enough to keep me afloat financially though!

So curious… if money didn’t matter much, would job would you like to do?

Sorry @StuffLoriThangs , didn't mean to quote you 🤣

Oganesson118 · 07/11/2023 13:41

I'd like to run a wine school or be a travel agent.

FriendsReunited · 07/11/2023 13:41

Animal rescue.

In fact if money was no object and there was a vet course where you don’t have to do euthanasia/abbatoir work, I’d train as a vet and work in a wildlife rescue centre.

When I was a student I worked in a library putting the books away. It was a very calming and easy job.

In terms of a bit more challenge, fun and fulfilment - working in the local pre school, but without any of the admin/compliance stuff.

Very different to my current job, but that’s my win-the-lottery dream life.

Helping people work with their doctors to understand (and maybe solve) their complicated medical problems

I just cant work out how to be paid for it, so will just continue to help friends for free

Social Prescribing could be the one for you!

DanceMumTaxi · 07/11/2023 13:48

Independent book shop or art gallery that sells art. But the book shop would be my first choice.

AtomicPumpkin · 07/11/2023 14:10

Lyric soprano, performing mainly on the European festival circuit.

NoodleQueen90 · 07/11/2023 14:18

Stable hand/horse trainer

Badbadbunny · 07/11/2023 14:22

I'd work in a museum, preferably a "living" museum, maybe give tours/explanations, i.e. somewhere like Beamish or Blists Hill, or maybe a heritage steam railway.

OhamIreally · 08/11/2023 08:58

Run a cat sanctuary

coliqua · 08/11/2023 09:10

I'd do my job but part time so I could do my hobby more.

vidflex · 08/11/2023 09:12

I had to give up my job as a teaching assistant in a specialist provision school which I absolutely loved. But I couldn't make ends meet in the end and I had to leave. I was heartbroken. So I'd definitely go back in a shot if money wasn't an issue

SoftKittyBazinga · 08/11/2023 09:14

Theatre director. I’ve done it as an amateur and would love to do it as a pro with a budget.

CesareBorgia · 08/11/2023 09:28

I'd work in a cattery.

GladWhere · 08/11/2023 09:28

I'd like to be in charge of a big group of highly skilled restorers and we would work on beautiful old buildings bringing them back to life. Obviously there would be no paperwork or red tape. I'd help out with the work, so a bit of sculpture, a bit of woodwork etc etc.

Sartre · 08/11/2023 09:48

Read to children and help them genuinely love books. I love reading children’s literature, especially anything by Michael Rosen so genuinely derive great pleasure from reading to my DC. I always said I’d like to open a little patisserie somewhere one day too so maybe could combine the two. Sell yummy cakes and read Michael Rosen books to kids.

WarmWinterSun · 08/11/2023 09:50

I’d teach

TheFireflies · 08/11/2023 09:52

Novelist. Set my own hours, not have to talk to anyone.

JamSandle · 08/11/2023 09:52

Tulips78 · 07/11/2023 11:22

Work in an animal rescue centre

This would be mine too.

SecretVictoria · 08/11/2023 09:55

Independent book shop for me too!

I’d also quite like to be a breakfast show DJ!

piscofrisco · 08/11/2023 09:56

Care assistant. I started as that and now I'm a senior manager in a care organisation, but the job I most enjoy and that I'm best at if I'm
Honest is the actual hands on care. Which I never get to do anymore. If I could afford it I'd go back to it in a heartbeat.

JuliaJohnstone · 08/11/2023 09:57

I'd be a jewellery maker.

Fulshaw · 08/11/2023 09:57

Journalist. A proper investigative one, not a tabloid gossip monger.

Illegallyblonder · 08/11/2023 09:58

I'd review restaurants and hotels. And I'd give work advice for free to anyone who needed it.

piscofrisco · 08/11/2023 09:58

Or else I'd love to be a Window dresser in the big stores. I love a trim up and I'm known for being good at seasonal pimping of the home-I wish I could have turned that into a career.
