What is with lip fillers?!? They look so fake and awful

i’m probably showing my age (I’m in my 40s) but am I alone in thinking the lip filler look is just awful?

I see them all over social media and in real life when I’m around people in their 20s. Why? They look so fake.

I know it’s not our fault as women. We’re manipulated into thinking our bodies and faces are never good enough. But lip fillers are so ubiquitous and look so, so bad, I just don’t get it.

I agree with you. There Is "girls" that went to school with My 20 something Dd that I don't recognise because their face and lips are so full of fillers!

This! I was at my DSD's baby shower last year and was seated next to a woman who had obviously had her lips done, cheek fillers, botox and was wearing false eyelashes and had her eyebrows tattooed. It took me a full 15 minutes of talking to her to realise who she was! My DSD's childhood best friend!

This girl used to stay at our house on a weekly basis. It was only through the conversation that I realised who she was, I just didn't recognise her, at all! She looked so completely different, and not in a good way. She was a very pretty girl, but now she just looked so fake, and completely unrecognisable. They're 31 BTW.

I have big lips naturally and there sometimes is a slight shadow in certain lights so that happens regardless of filler.

It's a trend that's on its way out I'm sure I'm seeing a lot more minimalist looks so big lips and lashes etc will wane in popularity.

LoopyLooooo · 06/11/2023 18:53

God some of the photos on this thread are absolutely awful.

Alifestylechoice · 06/11/2023 18:54

The worst thing about some filled lips is that they're also done with "lip blush". Now they DO look like vulvas

I’d see a doctor if your vulva resembles that @CurlyhairedAssassin

Alifestylechoice · 06/11/2023 18:56

I’m imagining half the women on this thread slobbed out in trackies screaming about ‘natural’ being better.

No, it's nothing like mine, I'm going through the menopause so mine's much drier looking these days. 😂

billysboy · 06/11/2023 18:57

What are they all going to look like once the people end the treatment?

BunnySeren · 06/11/2023 18:59

Unfortunate choice of background. Your body your choice but yes makes me cringe

Upwiththelark76 · 06/11/2023 19:00

YANBU completely agree . Look hideous however each to their own and those lips aren’t hurting anyone so let them crack on

An actual vulva on your face for 300 quid

Jesus, it gets worse. 😱 So thin, ageing lips are subconsciously associated with, ahem, unreceptive women? Might explain why so many older women are having them done.

Like they've been smoking for years.

JoeyRamonesHair · 06/11/2023 19:02

Bloody love my lip fillers - before I had virtually no lip at all; if I wore red lipstick my mouth looked like a gash. Now I have actual lips. Hooray!

BunnySeren · 06/11/2023 19:02

Ivegotsunshineinabag · 06/11/2023 12:22

Love my lips….

I’m also botoxed to the point of no frowning and have my eyelashes curled and dyed.

BTW I also have no breasts or nipples due to breast cancer.

It’s my body and I probably only have a few years before the next cancer hits, I’ll do what I want with it.

If you don’t like it, don’t have it done.

Unfortunate choice of background there. Your body your choice I guess

EmmaDilemma5 · 06/11/2023 19:03

Totally agree! It's along the lines of eyebrow lamination - just looks a bit naff!

Theyvegotatrex · 06/11/2023 19:04

I have big lips. They were the bane of my teenage years - I was called “Rubber lips”, “Mick Jagger”, and later on “Blow job lips”. If I could have had a reduction I would have.

Now, finally, I fit in and have lips to die for. I’m all in favour of them.

And?

HattieBrown · 06/11/2023 19:07

I was reading in the Daily Fail today about Pamela Anderson, and how shes now living this fabulous life out of the spotlight (mostly) and has or is trying to revert back to being au naturale. Idk if shes still got some kind of breast implant in/had plastic surgery but she looks amazing for a lady in her 50s. I do hope the natural look takes off

bakewellbride · 06/11/2023 19:09

I'm in my thirties and think the same as u op, it's awful.

Because we should sit in our home at night in heels and a tight dress.

What a silly comment.

Comfortable is a good thing.

What do you wear to chill out at home in? Please tell us glamorous one.

RudsyFarmer · 06/11/2023 19:12

I notice the bad facial augmentation, but I’m assuming there lots of clever stuff going on as well. I wish I knew where the smart people were going!

HerMammy · 06/11/2023 19:13

What a nasty thread to read, snobbery at its finest, sneering at 'a certain group' hideous, naff, ugly etc
Women now have the money and treatments are affordable, I'm sure some of our mums or grannies would have liked some of this to be a visible to them.
Women can choose exactly what they want to look like.
MN seem to assume we should be in joules/ boden, never colour our hair or change our appearance.
Whether you like it or not, to fill a thread sneering and judging other women is pathetic.
Hope none of your DDs grow up and face your bitchiness.

Oh the irony of these comments…

Flickersy · 06/11/2023 19:16

The beauty industry is the biggest con going.

The damage it does is ridiculous. It's a collective mental illness / dysphoria / self harm induced by constant messaging that we're not good enough.

I've had 2ml put in mine over time (two years) I think mine look great and I don't have the ledge. They've given me much more confidence when wearing lipsticks as I like to wear bright colours (orange, red, bright pink) some do go overboard but each to their own I say 👍🏼

Sorry but I can see the wedge
