I love going to my yoga classes. They help me regulate my emotions and improve my self esteem.

What's yours?

Running, going to the gym and buying handbags that I can’t really afford.

TheSilverThorn · 05/11/2023 22:05

Hiking and I belong to two hiking groups and also go with DH.
I also game on a console and play board games.
We also cycle but only in the summer.

Diamond painting, it relaxes me and stops me thinking about how shit life is.

I buy them from a company in the US, a bit pricey but usually take me 2-4 months to do, so not really expensive when I calculate the weeks it takes.

When finished, I roll them up and put them back in the box. Apart from 1 I have no interest in displaying them, I just enjoy doing them.

It was a joke - I just mean I spend so much time worrying that it might as well be a hobby!

HardcoreLadyType · 05/11/2023 22:39

My main hobby is probably reading or listening to books. Part of this is being in a book group where we read one book each month, then meet to discuss it. But I read/listen to many many more books than that.

i also go hiking a few times a month - usually these are day hikes, and but sometimes a short hiking trip.

I like to go to exhibitions at art galleries and museums - probably twice a month.

I like to go to the theatre and cinema - that’s probably about once a month each.

I do a Pilates class twice a week.

Sometimes I sing in a choir. I’m not doing that right now, but I have sung in a couple of choral concerts this year (Faure’s Requiem and Haydn’s Nelson Mass).

I have also recently learnt to stand up paddle board, and I think I will do more of it, but probably not until next spring/summer.

Being an empty nester isn’t all bad!

Walking my dog, riding my horse, doing Pilates, gardening, reading (currently the Strike books by JKR). Avoid TV as much as possible, except we are currently re-watching Clarkson’ Farm, so funny!

Love the Strike books! Are you reading the Running Grave ?

Staticgirl · 08/11/2023 12:05

Digital drawing and painting
Reading crime fiction and sci-fi; and about archaeology
Listening to popular music from 1920 to present
Playing the ukulele really badly but happily
Going for a walk in the local nature reserve

I think the first three may be my Special Interests. When I do them I feel more myself and real than at any other time. This makes me feel more content.

TodayInahurry · 08/11/2023 12:13

Running Grave, yes read that, found some of it a bit harrowing, but I am aware cults like this exist. Now started with the first one now reading the second. Was not keen on ‘The Ink Black Heart’!
