Do you find extremely muscular men attractive?

I see a lot of stuff about body acceptance for women, some insanely popular instagrams featuring very large women and clothes, etc. This is great, and I support representation of all body types. I then wondered about men, how they don't ever seem to glorify or share images of being larger bodied. Only muscled bodies.
So I presume men are less accepting of themselves as 'fat' whereas women are becoming more progressive and accepting?

It is obviously a very popular trend for men to build excessive muscle, perhaps way more, in the general sense than any other time in history, but i have wondered how many women like it? I guess this is objectifying the male body, but I am more interested in it as a trend.

I personally prefer a Bruce Lee or yoga toned type male body to a 'built' one, and can't relate to the whole bulging muscle thing. As a straight woman who is attracted to men, anything more than natural kind of turns me right off, sexually, although of course not as a person.

What do you think?

It depends on the amount, extremely muscled will be different to everyone really. I don’t personally find over weight men physically attractive, I think our lifestyle differences would also be too much. Someone like Alvise Rigo is a happy medium, not overweight, not thin, no overly muscly, just nice definition.

PeriodAhPeriodUh · 03/11/2023 06:47

No. Absolutely not.

The thought of touching a bodybuilder type body gives me the willies. It's not appealing at all

Apossum · 03/11/2023 06:50

Funnily enough, I’ve just seen, on Instagram during my morning scroll, a couple of accounts about slightly larger, dare I say slightly overweight, men doing fashion reels, and body positivity type posts. Never seen it before but it was great.
Anyway personally I do like muscles but not masses of well defined muscles, I prefer well covered solid muscles. Rugby player type. Strong af but likes cheese, y’know.

If they were nice and they made me laugh, their body shape and size would be completely irrelevant. But if I had to design my perfect body type from scratch, he’d have a high bmi. He’d still have to be nice and make me laugh for it to go beyond lust though.

Ilovepugs2017 · 03/11/2023 06:54

Muscly men aren’t my thing at all. Give me a Jack black type bod any day 😂

BatshitCrazyWoman · 03/11/2023 07:04

I don't find muscly over-developed men attractive at all. 'Natural' tone is good. I also don't find men with long hair or beards attractive either. All of those would be a swipe left on a dating site 😂

Lily0719 · 03/11/2023 07:07

I don’t find the body building look attractive, but I do like an athletic body, like a swimmers body or the backs in rugby.

IncompleteSenten · 03/11/2023 07:10

I'm not attracted to the veiny look.

OneCup · 03/11/2023 07:21

I think it looks ridiculous so that's a no for me.

Stillandquiet · 03/11/2023 07:25

Absolutely hate muscular physiques. It looks weird and unnatural and also it’s a massive red flag on a relationship level because they spend half their lives in the gym! Fuck that, I want someone to paint my ceiling and then demolish a pizza and a bottle of wine with me.

WeeDove · 03/11/2023 07:29

No, because it's an obvious signal that all of the body builder's focus goes in to appearance. Not strength, not health, not endurance, not speed, but appearance.

I feel its normal to fancy the kind of body that uses its muscles in a normal way running around, swimming, cycling, painting ceilings ha ha.

But who am I to say what's normal. I get that!! But if my opinion is asked, I'm going to say "no".

Mackeroo · 03/11/2023 07:33

No. I like them on the chunky side, skinny would be next and muscley last.

CesareBorgia · 03/11/2023 07:36

No, in fact, it's a turn off. I like a slender, gangly sort of man.

DoktorPeppa · 03/11/2023 07:36

Muscly men turn my stomach. I don't know why.

I like them tall and gangly.

passiveaggressivenonsense · 03/11/2023 07:37

Whenever I see these overly muscled young men si imagine it all turning to flab in their 40's.

Manadou · 03/11/2023 07:37

I quite like tall spindly thin men, if I was made to give a preference, and it helps if they have a nice arse.

paisley256 · 03/11/2023 07:42

Not at all, I'm always drawn to the tall, lean and long-limbed.

sammylady37 · 03/11/2023 07:43

I also don't believe women don't like muscles, it's what separates us from men. Maybe it is a confidence thing? Maybe if you aren't in shape yourself a muscly man would just make you feel insecure

Or maybe you could just believe women when they tell you what their likes and dislikes are, and have an understanding that not everyone likes the things you do?

Manadou · 03/11/2023 07:46

I have a friend who is quite petite, and her boyfriend is a 6 ft 3 inch rugby player, and built like a brick shithouse, all shoulders and arms. She told me she loves the feeling when he picks her up off the floor and holds her. She said she feels 'all protected'. I said mildly I wouldn't really like that, and she got quite weird with me.

Sartre · 03/11/2023 07:48

Nah, I’ve always preferred either slightly chubby guys or slim guys who are just naturally that way. I’ve never subscribed to the gym bunny body being the ultimate hot bod. I work out a lot myself so have biceps and muscular legs but I don’t do it to look muscular, it’s just to keep fit and mentally sane.

I sort of think that muscly or sporty men are likely to be a bit thick, to be honest.

Yes! I don't think anyone is saying ew gross to your average man at the gym. Yes, it objectively is attractive.

But subjectively many of us do not like it. I don't want someone with a different lifestyle to me. I don't want someone who yes, probably is quite shallow regarding looks.

IME the most attractive men are those who are intelligent and funny, and have a nice face. Can cope with any body type!!

Stillandquiet · 03/11/2023 07:57

@Manadou i know what you mean. It gives a certain stereotype ‘I lift weights to make my arms look big’ is the equivalent to “I inject chemicals into my face to make my lips look big” it implies they don’t read many books, put it that way 😂

megletthesecond · 03/11/2023 07:57

yy, swimmers and surfers are always in good shape. Both sexes.

Absolutely. Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. You just picked up on another thing I don't like - fillers, duck mouths, etc.
