I made a thread last time so thought I'd do another for those of us who are due to receive it. Due to be paid between 31st October and 19th November.

Anyone had theirs yet? I haven't, nobody else I know who is due it has either.

Why only those who work full time and pay tax? I work part time but not enough to pay tax.

I admire those who don't work and are full time carers.

If anyone is with HSBC and has received the payment can you tell me if it showed up as pending. Thanks.

lesserrail · 02/11/2023 13:52

My DS is on UC and got his today, Natwest Bank.

I'm still on tax credits so I'll be waiting longer for my payment.

LachScot · 02/11/2023 14:15

I'm on UC and nothing received so far :(

Run a house on one wage. Have to pay for everything yourself (dentist, prescriptions repairs on house etc)
Just because someone works you're not always better off.

Plenty of people who get benefits also pay for their dentist, prescriptions and repairs on houses.

TutuDesi · 02/11/2023 14:24

Got every other COL help payment as on PIP. But apparently all COL help for disabled people has been quietly cut. I only found out yesterday that this had been done from an article in the Big Issue.

It’s a bit depressing really as I hoped to use that £150 for my utility bills. I can’t have the thermostat below 21C without it making me really ill. Many others I know needed the money to charge electric wheelchairs, mobility scooters, or run cpap and home dialysis machines.

It’s no good that there are “warm” buildings to go to as I cannot physically get to them. I suppose it’s going to be a work in bed with an electric blanket on and live in my bedroom type of winter. I send money to my DCs at Uni so they can eat and take the bus so not a lot of flex in the old budget.

EngivitaOnToast · 02/11/2023 14:35

@TutuDesi
That's absolutely disgraceful. I had to go and check, I was hoping you'd made a mistake. Yes, they did that very quietly, I know a few people on pip that definitely weren't aware of the change. Shameful.

sebastiene · 02/11/2023 14:37

I have had nothing yet...

*UC in Manchester Initial *B Bank Halifax ELSE GOT THEIRS?

I don't understand this post. The PIP payment of £150 was paid in the summer.

Only one payment was due this year. Did some people not get it?

Whatintheworldgirl · 02/11/2023 15:50

Cheshire here. Still haven't got it. Surname begins with W and I'm on UC. Just joining in with the chat

Yep, I pay for all my prescriptions and dentist appointments. The threshold for getting those things free is very low.

The col payments have always been for those on means tested benefits. There was an additional 150 for those on DLA or PIP but that was separate to the current payment being made and was a one off. They haven't scrapped anything, those on Disability benefits and means tested benefits get both. If you're only on one type of benefit then you just get that one.

Yes they have scrapped it. I don’t know what is worse, the fact you don’t seem to care about disabled people who clearly struggle with extra costs due to the COL crisis or are so ill informed you are suggesting this very real cut has not happened.

The COL payments for those on PIP/DLA were not separate from the COL payments for low income and pensioners. They were all part of the same package.

You are incorrect, you could be eligible for all three or two, as well as just one type. From 2022:
“You could get up to 3 different types of payment depending on your circumstances on a particular date or during a particular period:

  • a Cost of Living Payment, if you were getting a qualifying low income benefit or tax credits
  • a Disability Cost of Living Payment, if you were getting a qualifying disability benefit
  • a Pensioner Cost of Living Payment, if you’re entitled to a Winter Fuel Payment for winter 2022 to 2023
These payments are not taxable and will not affect the benefits or tax credits you get.” https://www.gov.uk/guidance/cost-of-living-payment-2022

We also got the spring COL payment as well. It was only a one off!

It was paid autumn of 2022, and spring of 2023 along with all the other COL payments. But this autumn, it’s been dropped.

Like every other scheme and benefit and discount, I'm not entitled to this. If you're on a low income but don't claim benefits, you are in a terrible position in this country.

That's my point - there was one last year and one this year. I know, I'm disabled. There are also more payments which are more for means tested benefits and pensioners.

There hasn't been a disability payment for every means tested payment as the amounts are different.

EngivitaOnToast · 02/11/2023 19:09

Just need to clarify about some posts on people getting things free. In Wales and Scotland prescriptions are free to everyone regardless of income.
I'm in Wales and I don't know of anyone that gets free dental care, benefits or not and definitely nobody I have ever known has free repairs on their house.

Djayee · 03/11/2023 10:30

Still nothing today :(
Wish they'd be more specific with the days it could be paid rather than a long date range.
Anyone got theres this morning?

TransformationChynaDoll · 03/11/2023 10:31

Got mine today (Halifax, SW)

Trinity65 · 03/11/2023 11:19

Just to update

My payment went in Today . SE London Surname is B (though that don't seem to come into it as my son with a W surname got his on the 31st October and my other son with the same surname is still waiting)

PinkPantherPrat · 03/11/2023 11:30

I'm an odd mix of unpaid carer, PG student and occasional paid work so get top up UC. This should mean I'll get CoL.

Irritatingly it hasn't come through yet and I would have liked it to before house payment on 10th. If my bank account goes lower than I'd like I glare at it! Bet it comes through 19th.

I do get free dentistry though (England) which I'm grateful for.
