I made a thread last time so thought I'd do another for those of us who are due to receive it. Due to be paid between 31st October and 19th November.

Anyone had theirs yet? I haven't, nobody else I know who is due it has either.

OP posts:

I received mine on the 31st. I didn’t even realise as I never get it so early

Moro93 · 02/11/2023 09:12

Got mine today. The quickest I’ve got it so far, I’ve waited at least a week for the others.

Employment rate for people on Universal Credit was 41% in June 2022. That does not mean they all work full-time.
I admire those who work full-time and pay tax.

I used to work full time, pay tax and claim UC (previously claimed TC when working full time)
Thanks for the admiration. Wasn't aware I did anything worthy of it!

Helpyelp · 02/11/2023 10:01

Can I ask what happens if you were in the process of switching from tax credits to universal credit during the eligibility period? We received a letter in September requesting we make the switch due to tax credits ending so we did this and now receive UC but I’m just wondering if this now means we won’t receive the COL payment?

BananaSlug · 02/11/2023 10:02

Got mine today

EngivitaOnToast · 02/11/2023 10:18

Nothing again today

Headsett · 02/11/2023 10:24

The real villains are the companies who make millions yet don't pay their staff enough to live on so the government have to top them up, not people eligible for the payment. My DB recieved his today, very relieved.

Twimum23 · 02/11/2023 10:24

I got mine on the 31st

To the lady talking about the work shy Ukrainian. Good luck to that lady because UC don't tolerate people who don't want to work. She won't be able to do it long.

She's came here May 22, moved on from me to another host now.

I feel a bit sorry for her tbh. You know how people often describe asylum seekers as economic migrants and claim they're not 'real' asylum seekers. I think the very oppersite is true of her. She would never describe herself as an asylum seeker or refugee. In her mind, she's just moved here for better life oppertunities. The fact is though, she's a refugee and it would be very difficult (and unsafe) for her to go back to her home.

The reason she absolutely point blank refused to get a job is because of the sort of jobs she was offered (and she was offered jobs, she didn't even have to look for them). It was all factory or supermarket work, she described these jobs as 'for country people, not for Ukrainians'. She says the sort of people who do these jobs would never leave Ukraine and can't do other jobs. She wanted a posh job and wouldn't even consider anything 'less' despite her being completely unqualified for such in the UK and here English not being very good.

Obviously it's not true what she's saying, plenty of Ukrainians have taken those jobs in the UK. I think she drops her kid off at school then hangs out with her Ukrainian friends all day.

Have you had a text or letter to say you qualify? I haven’t had anything this time as yet.

Mamato29192 · 02/11/2023 10:52

Getting mine tomorrow

nightnurse82 · 02/11/2023 10:55

@Helpyelp had no text or letter but in the past tax credit have sent a letter to say I'll be getting it but I usually receive the letter after payment has been made. I asked a lady on another thread who works for hmrc and she said I should get it from tax credit as I received a payment in the qualifying period

Mamato29192 · 02/11/2023 10:56

And to add never had text or letter just always received it

FJRMum · 02/11/2023 11:27

I got a text on 26th of October stating the time frame It'll be paid but yet to receive it
(I work full time but receive UC for having a disabled child and I'm from Scotland)

Workworld · 02/11/2023 11:45

I don't understand the eligibility criteria very well. Could somebody tell me if I am eligible or not? I made a new claim for Universal credit on 31st August. I received my first statement on 2nd October and my first payment on the 6th October.

Thanks in advance

Chelbell2017 · 02/11/2023 12:14

Why only those who work full time and pay tax? I work part time but not enough to pay tax.

To be eligible for the Cost of Living Payment from DWP, you need to have been entitled to a payment for a qualifying benefit between 18 August 2023 and 17 September 2023, or payment for an assessment period, ending between these date

Can anyone please tell me if I am going to get this payment? I really don't understand the qualifying date criteria. My qualifying period was 12th August to 11th September and I got a payment on 18th August.
