My daughter is 3. Possible infection. She's had a seizure and I'm waiting for an ambulance but I feel so so scared and so so alone. Please

Is she awake. My son had a seizure and I was told to try to rouse him while waiting for help.
It's scary I know. Hopefully a once off. Loosen her clothes too.

sugaryouth1 · 26/10/2023 19:58

I've been told to leave her in the recovery position and not to roused her or try. Could be a 4 hour wait. I don't drive and even if I did I've been told to not move her. I feel sick

here to talk. Is she your only child? Please god the ambulance gets to you soon

Is she responsive?
What's her temp?

sugaryouth1 · 26/10/2023 20:00

She's my only child. She's only 3. She's breathing but she's not responding. I know we aren't the only ones waiting for an ambulance but 4 hours with an unresponsive 3 year old just seems wrong

OP posts:
BCBird · 26/10/2023 20:00

Thinking about you.OP.

sugaryouth1 · 26/10/2023 20:01

Her temperature is 39.5 currently. She isn't responding to my voice and she's not moving. I placed her in the recovery position and she hasn't moved

OP posts:
heldinadream · 26/10/2023 20:02

She's breathing. 💓
Totally here for you OP.

MaggieFS · 26/10/2023 20:03

Here with you too. It must be scary. Do you have anyone else with you or who you can call to be with you?

FannyFifer · 26/10/2023 20:03

Phone ambulance again, you have a non responsive 3 year old.
Have you anyone at all that can bring you to hospital?
Is she not responding at all? Reactive to touch.

petalsandstars · 26/10/2023 20:03

How long have you been waiting? Can you call back and chase the ambulance?

FannyFifer · 26/10/2023 20:04

I'm so sorry OP, this is bloody awful.

sugaryouth1 · 26/10/2023 20:04

I phoned my friend for someone to talk to but she had to go. Now its just me in the house and I'm driving myself crazy listening to her breathe

OP posts:
Lovemusic82 · 26/10/2023 20:04

I would call again, if they can’t get an ambulance out to you could you call a taxi?

sugaryouth1 · 26/10/2023 20:05

2 hours waiting. If I call her name and shake her she doesn't wake up. I phoned 999 again 45 minutes ago and they said it's normal to be sleepy after a seizure and to bear with them because they are very busy

OP posts:
PurpleSky09 · 26/10/2023 20:05

Must be so scary for you OP. Thinking of you and your daughter x

sugaryouth1 · 26/10/2023 20:06

When I phoned again they told me to not move her and to leave her in the recovery position as she'd been sick and they advised I'm not to move her. Honestly I know they know better but I'm on the verge of scooping her up and booking an uber

OP posts:
bclspia · 26/10/2023 20:08

Seems crazy you would need to wait so long

FannyFifer · 26/10/2023 20:08

How far away as hospital in an Uber?

Quartz2208 · 26/10/2023 20:08

Non responsive that amount of time I think I would take. DS had one but came out of it fairly quickly

OhBeAFineGuyKissMe · 26/10/2023 20:09

Could you read to her - both to reassure her when she does start to respond but also to give you something to do.

She is breathing and you are with her. They will get an ambulance to her as soon as they can.

Phone them back if anything changes -anything at all.

sugaryouth1 · 26/10/2023 20:09

10 minutes in an uber

OP posts:
heldinadream · 26/10/2023 20:10

Keep your body in contact with her body OP. Lie against her so her body can feel your warmth and heartbeat.

Limth · 26/10/2023 20:11

Awful for you, OP.

My neighbour's daughter (4 YO) had a totally out of the blue seizure last summer. Like your daughter, she was unresponsive afterwards but breathing okay.

Cause of the seizure was never found but she's not had one since, and she's totally fine. She told everyone for several weeks afterwards about her stay in hospital (just one night for observation) and the ice cream she got on the way home (all the flavours, apparently, whatever that means).

Wishing you both well.

MaggieFS · 26/10/2023 20:12

Gosh I'd be so tempted to get the Uber too. At that age you can scoop her up and carry her. Did you mention it as an option to 999 so they could determine if it's still better that you don't move her and wait?
