I'm torn between Anne of Green Gables, Black Beauty and A Little Princess.

Little Red Fox has a place in my heart too

The only Noel Streatfield I liked was Didicoi

Peter Pan, Heidi, What Katie Did, Ballet Shoes, Little House on the Prairie series, Anne of Green Gables, Tom’s Midnight Garden, which l think is one of the most beautifully written children’s books ever.

glad to see the owl service mnetioned
the wierd stone of brisingamen too. I had a little cut glass gem from my granny, just like the heroines, and just like her I’d look into the magical lights in the middle.
I feel for children today. There was so much magic when you had less, and had to find magic in the weeds by the road.
