As he hasn't organised a gift for his brother's wedding, I should sit down tomorrow and draw or paint a picture to be framed and given. Reader, I cannot draw. Nor paint. 🤔

🤣

cpphelp · 19/10/2023 18:25

I think you should definitely do this - paint a stick man who's received his divorce papers!

This made me laugh aloud!

Littlemissprosecco · 19/10/2023 18:26

🤣🤣🤣
Give him the crayons!

Gloriousgardener11 · 19/10/2023 18:27

He clearly thinks you possess artistic skills that you haven’t yet realised ! 😂🤣🤭

RubyBoozeDay · 19/10/2023 18:27

Potato prints are fun to make. Then you can throw the potatoes at his head afterwards.

Motnight · 19/10/2023 18:27

Do it anyway and send us a photo!

MinnieMountain · 19/10/2023 18:28

He could just buy a nice picture frame. Or was that going to be your job too 🙄

sprigatito · 19/10/2023 18:28

I think you should seize this opportunity, OP. A searing avant-garde abstract meditation on the modern bondage of the married state. Perhaps using your own menstrual blood.

MrsKwazi · 19/10/2023 18:29

I second the potato print idea! Genius 🤣

Bonbon21 · 19/10/2023 18:29

Aw shucks.... he thinks you are wonderful!!
You lucky girl you!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤

If they did a registry just pick something off that? If not order something nice via Amazon and just put in the card that the gift in on its way.

Ponderingwindow · 19/10/2023 18:31

🤣

I have a home art studio if that tells you anything. I love personal gifts, but handmade wedding gifts are rare and very carefully matched to the recipient.

Aria999 · 19/10/2023 18:31

🤣

NyanBinaryJohn · 19/10/2023 18:31

Make something really shit and wrap it up before he gets to see it. In the card, write something along the lines of:

"DH chose you something truly unique."

Then let him deal with the fallout.

bunnibee · 19/10/2023 18:33

Do one of those butterfly things that children do...folded paper, blobs of paint, or in your case, husbands blood, fold up, write on it 'happy wedding day bro'

Cowlover89 · 19/10/2023 18:33

🤣🤣

MrsPerfect12 · 19/10/2023 18:34

You have to do this - for MN giggles at least!

Coldinscotland · 19/10/2023 18:35

How about a fingerprint family picture?

LimeCheesecake · 19/10/2023 18:35

while I know the received wisdom on MN is that wedding gift lists are grabby and not acceptable - this right here is the best argument for them I’ve ever heard.

A nice sensible John Lewis gift list your DH could pick from would avoid the couple having to give house room to their new sister-in-law’s questionable art.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 19/10/2023 18:39

Is he joking or is he just an idiot?

AutumnCrow · 19/10/2023 18:40

Oh god please tell me this is real.

reallyworriedjobhunter · 19/10/2023 18:40

Please do this. They will have to put it on the wall every time you visit.

LizzieSiddal · 19/10/2023 18:41

😂

Actually could you find a child who could do a picture of the bride and groom? Aged 3 would be best.

Sometime in the near future I hope we get a thread posted from a bemused new bride and her obscure framed wedding gift.
