As he hasn't organised a gift for his brother's wedding, I should sit down tomorrow and draw or paint a picture to be framed and given. Reader, I cannot draw. Nor paint. 🤔

Saturday!

The thing is, I don't want to do something overly emphasising my DC as they tried but can't have DC. So I'm not sure a drawing by my DC or fingerprint families or something child-art-like would be appropriate.

Paint may not dry by Saturday OP.

suggestion 2 : It has to be collage : superglue a bunch of random objects to canvas. Use colour favoured by bridal couple as a theme.

whatsupluckyducky · 19/10/2023 19:46

Do it!!

AdoraBell · 19/10/2023 19:47

I have a dog you can borrow for paw 🐾 prints.

LlynTegid · 19/10/2023 19:47

I get that something that in any way reminds them of children would be unkind.

So it's the gift of dance I reckon.

Motnight · 19/10/2023 18:27

Do it anyway and send us a photo!

This 👏👏👏

Goldbar · 19/10/2023 19:49

I would make your DH purchase it from you. I think you can name your own price in these circumstances.

Fifireee · 19/10/2023 19:27

I think your husband should give the gift of dance. He could make up a dance which shows his joy for the happy couple. Then at some point during the day perform it.

This is perfect

frozendaisy · 19/10/2023 19:50

Or a solo mime play indicating love

frozendaisy · 19/10/2023 19:51

Modern mime obviously

MissHoollie · 19/10/2023 19:52

Raid some driveways for some gravel and make this beauty.
Oops no pic next post will have the pics

MissHoollie · 19/10/2023 19:53

Get a white canvas, put on your favourite skin face mask of choice.
Proceed to press face firmly on said canvas and roll it from side to side whilst doing a manic joker like grin. Voila!

HelloItsMeHowAreYou · 19/10/2023 20:01

Why does he hate his brother so much?!

Brenna24 · 19/10/2023 20:03

I had high hopes for this thread when I clicked on it. It has not disappointed. Thank you for the laughs.

PortalooSunset · 19/10/2023 20:05

Is he confusing your artistic abilities with those of his other wife?! 🤔

43ontherocksporfavor · 19/10/2023 20:06

Do a back of secondary school graffiti. You know, the trinity of cock and balls with added spurts!

toomanyleggings · 19/10/2023 20:06

men are not high up in my estimation tonight. You’re not helping op 😆

WiddlinDiddlin · 19/10/2023 20:08

Bloody hell, this would be bad if you were a decent artist...and um, 'to be framed', he realises that takes a couple of weeks and costs?

Or he means 'and also go out and buy a frame etc etc and sort that too'... which is another skill set in itself...

Why on EARTH would he think this was something you could do? I mean, I probably could, at a push, if the subject were something I enjoy drawing, but I am no framer...

What has led him to believe you have these skills -has he watched too much 5 Minute Crafts? Does he think you can whip up a fine art portrait in minutes?

JUST WHYYYYYYYY.... PLEASE ENLIGHTEN US!

Lifeomars · 19/10/2023 20:09

May I suggest that you make a collage from pasta, lentils, plus anything you find if you have one of those drawers where odd bits and pieces are laid to rest. Call it "Domestic Life", I am sure they will love it!

ApocalypseNowt · 19/10/2023 20:10

AutumnCrow · 19/10/2023 19:18

To be fair, wasn't that Picasso and a napkin?

This could launch OP into the stratosphere of Facebook Marketplace glittery shit in time for Christmas.

Here is the spider drawing guy...

I think you are limiting yourself, art does not have to be restricted to a canvas.

You should consider filming yourself using the medium of mime or maybe contemporary dance. You could have pools of paint around a large white sheet and could literally dance colours across the floor.

The film could be played at the reception along side the 6 x 8 ft artwork, it would be, literally, priceless!

Spinnymop · 19/10/2023 20:12

Draw them a picture of your dh. Then have him perform a Hakka while you present it.

WiddlinDiddlin · 19/10/2023 20:13

I would like to see evidence of your artistic skills though @BrightlyCloudedSky as it is possible your husband, in his infinite wisdom, actually knows you to be a talented artist who can't see her own value/skill....

Also I am bored at work and just want to see folks doodles.

amusedbush · 19/10/2023 20:13

This is genuinely hilarious. Please do it.

I'm picturing the episode of Gilmore Girls when Emily buys the "wolf girl" painting; Lorelai's reaction to it makes me laugh every time.

P.S. Does your husband happen to work for the Glasgow mental health team? I was on my knees with burnout and anxiety in 2021 and the guy told me to try a new hobby, like painting, to take my mind off things. I replied that I'm shite at art so that would just make me more depressed.
