Do we actually know who bombed the hospital in Gaza yet?

I keep seeing mixed reports. It’s really unsettling not to know.

"Also, if Hamas are "hiding in schools" and you give a warning surely Hamas members will leave with residents after the supposed warning if they don't want to be bombed, which kind of defeats the purpose of bombing in the first place. Such a ridiculous premise to "get rid of Hamas""

You probably don't know it but you're actually on a path to realising how evil Hamas are.

swirlingabyss · 19/10/2023 10:20

1 minute warning from roof knock to bomb.

We can't blame one side or the other based on noises. All we can try and do is act responsibly (ie, not post any old tat from Twitter) and hopefully the truth will out.

I'd advise both sides to stay as far away from Twitter as possible.

Thanks anything else you recommend doing or not doing ?

or maybe read from more than one places and not just one newspaper

Were they time stamped for shortly before Israel bombed the road again?

Even if they were though, you don't bomb the road that is literally being repaired so humanitarian road can get in? Israel said less than 24 hours ago that they would not block humanitarian aid to civilians, and goes Jan on it the following morning...

What was actually said:

"Israel will not prevent humanitarian assistance from Egypt as long as it is only food, water and medicine for the civilian population located in the southern Gaza Strip or (those)evacuating to there, and as long as these supplies do not reach Hamas," the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said"

Do what you like, I'm just saying twitter is going to fry your brain, no matter what side you're on. You can't move for hate and misinformation.

i think you’re wrong in your last sentence

those of us that criticise the Israel government know that hamas is evil. But we also know that the Israel government is not handling it well and that killing innocent civilians is not the solution hence why we are also criticising it

crumblingschools · 19/10/2023 10:23

As I am sure they won’t be able to guarantee that Hamas won’t get hold of any of the aid I guess that means they won’t let any in

Maybe Hamas could release a few hostages?

Maybe Israel could too

If I'm following your logic, you mean that Israel won't let food, water and medicines through if there is any hamas activity in the south of Gaza?

Ie, it's continent on a hamas ceasefire? Even though they are continuing to bomb the area themselves?

So its all a PR thing for Israel. They have no intention of allowing aid in if that's the criteria they are using.

Doesn't it prove Hamas don't give a single about their people though. They could quite easily move out of the area and let people get desperately needed aid. But they won't.

crumblingschools · 19/10/2023 10:36

@FreeCoathangers we all accept Hamas are awful

swirlingabyss · 19/10/2023 10:37

If we're going down the children route, @FreeCoathangers maybe consider the Israeli system that is the only one in the world that prosecutes children.

"Israel is the only country in the world that systematically prosecutes children in military courts – between 500 and 700 each year. The Israel Prison Service revealed that an average of 204 Palestinian children have been held in custody every month since 2012."

https://www.dci-palestine.org/military_detention

"Since 2000, Israeli military authorities have detained, interrogated, prosecuted, and imprisoned approximately 13,000 Palestinian children, according to estimates by DCIP.

An average of 263 Palestinian children aged 12-17 years old were detained by Israeli authorities at any one time between January 2016 and September 2020, based on data released by the Israel Prison Service (IPS). During this period, an average of 51 young Palestinian children (12-15) were detained.

Children typically arrive to interrogation bound, blindfolded, frightened, and sleep deprived.

Children often give confessions after verbal abuse, threats, physical and psychological violence that in some cases amounts to torture.

Israeli military law provides no right to legal counsel during interrogation, and Israeli military court judges seldom exclude confessions obtained by coercion or torture."

Gazan children who were radicalised in their schools commit criminal acts. If you're going to attack a patrol with petrol bombs then you may find yourself arrested and detained.

I honestly don't think you do. It's actually little more than a death cult, that stains everyone it comes into contact with.

swirlingabyss · 19/10/2023 10:42

@FreeCoathangers

Save the Children said the former child detainees surveyed were from across the occupied West Bank and had been detained for one month to 18 months.
The report says: “The main alleged crime for these detentions is stone-throwing, which can carry a 20-year sentence in prison for Palestinian children.”

swirlingabyss · 19/10/2023 10:44

"Jason Lee, Save the Children’s country director in the occupied Palestinian territory, said Palestinian children are the only ones in the world to experience systematic prosecution in military courts.

There is a marked increase in the number of former child detainees who suffer nightmares and insomnia and have difficulty returning to their normal life, with many reporting a decrease in hope for their futures.

The study said 86 percent of the 228 former child detainees surveyed were beaten in detention, and 69 percent were strip-searched, adding that 42 percent were injured at the point of arrest, including gunshot wounds and broken bones.

They were also interrogated at unknown locations without the presence of a guardian or caregiver and are often deprived of food, water and sleep, the report says.

In addition, they were often refused access to legal counsel, according to the research."

Torturing children, strip searching and injuring children, depriving them of food and water and legal counsel for the "crime" of throwing stones is not ok.

FreeCoathangers · 19/10/2023 10:47

I don't condone, for a second, the treatment meted out to kids as a result of their actions. If you want to use this as some kind of justification for the actions of Hamas, I can't help you.

No where have I said Israel is perfect or innocent of anything.

SomeCatFromJapan · 19/10/2023 10:49

@FreeCoathangers quite. The actions of Israel are often far from perfect. But they're not the below.

@FreeCoathangers where is my supposed justification for Hamas? Putting words in my mouth there.

I am just trying to educate you on the reality of the experience of the children in Gaza - you suggested they are all radicalised "petrol bomb" throwing Hamas supporters. They get prosecuted, thrown in jail for up to 20 years for the act of stone throwing, beaten, tortured, deprived of sleep, food water and they are CHILDREN.

swirlingabyss · 19/10/2023 10:54

And let's not forget the many hundreds if not thousands of children killed by Israeli forces in the last few days alone.
