No-one has mentioned much about creative people- I'm always quite wow about people who are genuinely successful in the art field, or successful authors. Saying 'I'm a writer' still has a bit of wow factor, I think.

Blinkityblonk · 15/10/2023 00:28

I know not one but two psychiatrists who work in prisons and a max security mental hospital. That's 'wow' but in a 'I really don't think I could do that job' way.

I also dated a diver, and someone training for the Olympic swimming team, and a very unsuccessful comedian (the last one was not wow).

EeesandWhizz · 15/10/2023 00:34

I'm just sat here thinking that everyone that says pilot clearly doesn't know many. And don't worry, you would definitely know when you meet one.

Criminal profiler

However, in all the books/movies I watched, the only profile for the serial killer seems to be white, male of above average intelligence and a loner.

this book is quite intriguing

I've not been able to verify it, but have been told the head of the Coptic church gets the title 'Supreme arbiter of the universe'.

The leader of the Coptic Orthodox Church is called the "Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of all Africa on the Holy Apostolic See of Saint Mark the Evangelist." This is a traditional title that shows his important role in the church. The title "Supreme Arbiter of the Universe" is not commonly used for the Coptic Pope. It's possible that this title is not well-known or used in a specific situation.

The RC Pope is 'Bishop of Rome, Vicar of Jesus Christ, Successor of the Prince of the Apostles, Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Church, Patriarch of the West, Primate of Italy, Metropolitan Archbishop of the Province of Rome, Sovereign of the State of Vatican City, Servant of the Servants of God.'

Do you think they're having a Pope-Off?

jays · 15/10/2023 01:14

This will sound wanky but I genuinely mean it, I’m always so jealous, jealous isn’t the right word, maybe ‘in awe’ is better, of people who truly love their job! People who actually light up when they talk about it. I’ve never had that, so I always think, no matter what those folk do, it must be the best job in the world!

RAF/ Navy fighter pilot

MI 5/6 spy (although I suppose you’d never know they were one and they’re probably not officially called spies)

As i understand the intelligence world Those who work for these agencies are often not openly identified as spies, and they typically do not officially use the term "spy" to describe themselves. Instead, they are intelligence officers or agents involved in activities related to national security, intelligence gathering, and counterterrorism etc.

Calmondeck · 15/10/2023 01:32

Brain surgeon

Normcore · 15/10/2023 01:34

My DC worked for The Head of the North. Cool title. No idea about the job, I think it was to do with council services.

Professor (especially if they're a potions master too. 😁)
Whatever it's called when someone works with cosmetics and is in charge of mixing up the colours that then go on to be mass produced. I would love to do that!
Artist.

SapphireSeptember · 15/10/2023 01:40

@Blinkityblonk I forgot author/writer/poet. Thank you!
Also seamstress, it's such a nice word. (Although not in the way it was used in Victorian times.)
Fashion designer and dressmaker fit into that too. I think people who can design and make fabulous clothes are amazing.

Namechangedforthis25 · 15/10/2023 01:45

I’m a lawyer and partner of a known firm - it’s fine but it’s not a cool job

my husband is a vice president of a large American bank - again lots of people are

the coolest/most impressive job titles are:

judge- they are making real decisions akin to life or death
surgeons - just think of the skill and responsibility

anything to do with space including scientists in a space agency

anyone looking to cure Illness

anything to do with the UN

Elite sport or elite dancer - the sweat and tears to get to that level

possibly a pilot- But mainly because I don’t know any

and I do think ceo of listed companies or equivalent are super impressive
