Stand up comedian

My DC worked for The Head of the North. Cool title. No idea about the job, I think it was to do with council services.

I thought Sean Bean was Head of the North?

viques · 15/10/2023 02:00

Or was he DickHead of the North. One or t’other any road.

JANEY205 · 15/10/2023 02:03

I know a lot of loser commercial pilots so would find it hard to be impressed by them.

Specialist surgeons are the biggest wow factor for me! Drs who are experts in their field. Scientists. High ranking military. Astronauts.

DPotter · 15/10/2023 02:04

engineer - JPL in Pasadena

GreenUp · 15/10/2023 02:05

Professional opera singer - amazing skills and talent required

Pilot/astronaut/deep sea diver - just because I'm scared of flying and the deep ocean so I'm in awe of people who'd choose to do those things for a living.

JANEY205 · 15/10/2023 02:05

EeesandWhizz · 15/10/2023 00:34

I'm just sat here thinking that everyone that says pilot clearly doesn't know many. And don't worry, you would definitely know when you meet one.

The commercial ones I’ve known have nearly all been arseholes who talk about themselves constantly. I’m much more impressed by military pilots but it’s true you will know if you meet a pilot, they manage to tell you within the first meeting 🫠

MI6 agent (but you prob wouldn't be able to tell anyone)

Probably married and trying to get in your pants

Kurokurosuke · 15/10/2023 02:17

Pirate
Space Cowboy
Ghostbuster
Dream Catcher

in that order.

SD1978 · 15/10/2023 02:28

Astronaut for me.

Human rights lawyers also work with the government and local authorities on issues affecting the rights of British people. Human rights aren’t only for migrants, they’re for everyone.

My husband is a human rights barrister and this is exactly what he does

The funny thing is that MI5 / 6 are not allowed to confirm or deny if someone is an agent. So there was this story in the papers a while ago where this man had pretended to his girlfriend for literally years that he was an MI5 agent. Then one day he attacked her with a machete, and she sued MI5 for their agent's behavior. He was clearly a lying fruitcake, but they had to go along with it because they couldn't deny he worked there!

BlankWorld · 15/10/2023 02:49

Namechanged for this, my ex husband was a high ranking military test pilot and a complete twat, so that would never impress me, for that reason alone I would assume that the First Sea Lord might be a bit of a twat, although the job title is ok.

I think I'd admire a Human Rights Barrister and someone like a Chief Heart Transplant Surgeon. I've met someone who was a CHTS, in charge of the programme at a world renowned hospital and he was thoroughly impressive. Very very intelligent and a really wonderful man, caring, kind, nice, just all round impressive.

thats the thing with the whole fake family, kids etc all part of the cover story, but then when the missions complete do they just disappear onto the next mission and using a cover story split with the current partner that was just being used as part of their mission cover >?

I’m a lawyer and partner of a known firm - it’s fine but it’s not a cool job

my husband is a vice president of a large American bank - again lots of people are

the coolest/most impressive job titles are:

judge- they are making real decisions akin to life or death
surgeons - just think of the skill and responsibility

anything to do with space including scientists in a space agency

anyone looking to cure Illness

anything to do with the UN

Elite sport or elite dancer - the sweat and tears to get to that level

possibly a pilot- But mainly because I don’t know any

and I do think ceo of listed companies or equivalent are super impressive

Most people who work high up at the UN are difficult characters. I guess many people with these high status jobs are.

WaitingfortheTardis · 15/10/2023 03:11

I don't think there are many jobs that 'wow' me especially, definitely not things like barristers or pilots. I think I was easily impressed when I was younger but nowadays I'm just not bothered.

I have a strong respect for certain roles, but more like nurses, teaching staff, emergency services, care staff etc. I met a top heart surgeon once who was quite inspiring, also a man who had made big differences in the world of prosthetics. However for both of these it was more about the person in the role rather than specifically the role.

I completely agree with this - strong respect for certain roles and really not that bothered! The person who has impressed me most in life is probably the Chief Heart Transplant Surgeon, it wasn't just his job title, it was the man himself.

neurosurgeon here, married to a trauma surgeon

we both think astronaut, and not the Richard Branson kind.

You must be incredibly handy neighbours!

Before I met my husband I dated a surgeon and while I was initially impressed, he kept pointing out things that might be medically wrong with me. So I'd be naked and he'd say "you should get that mole looked at" and then I'd be shitting myself for weeks.

It was very stressful, and I decided on that basis I couldn't ever date a doctor of any kind again 😆It gave me actual anxiety.

whoreallyknows · 15/10/2023 03:36

I know a guy who’s job title is Head of Ice Cream for Unilever worldwide.

Sea lord is a good one.

Shall we 'up the anti' to First Sea Lord Grin

I do find nothing quite matches a good military title for wow factor.
