Why won’t Egypt help the Gazans?

It seems the most if not the only logical solution, to set up refugee shelters in the Sinai peninsula?

CNN has reported
”Five empty UN petrol trucks are waiting at the Gazan side of the Rafah crossing, hoping to cross over into Egypt and refuel, a Palestinian official responsible for the Rafah crossing told CNN on Monday.
“There are five empty petrol trucks from Gaza, with UN flags, trying to get into Egypt to fill up on fuel, but the gates are closed," the official said.
“We have not been given any orders from the Egyptians to open the gates. These trucks are on standby. There are groups of people waiting alongside these trucks. Nothing is open," the official said.
The official stressed that “nothing has come through Egypt” yet either, as multiple aid trucks congregate on the Egyptian side of the border hoping to cross over to deliver supplies to Gaza.
The Israeli prime minister’s office denied Monday the existence of any arrangements for the opening of the border crossing between Gaza and Egypt.
The Rafah crossing is the last remaining exit for Palestinians in Gaza, but Cairo has as yet been reluctant to open it.”

Times of Israel seems to be saying that Israel has denied agreeing to a cease fire in southern Gaza so that the Rafah crossing can be opened to let aid and foreign National civilians safely through? It sounds like that is the hold up to it being opened? A cease fire just for that part of Gaza?

”Israel denied reports on Monday that it had agreed to halt fire in the southern Gaza Strip to allow the Rafah crossing to open, as the United States and international mediators appeared closer to reaching a deal for the opening of the border with Egypt to allow aid into the Strip and for foreigners to exit.
“At the moment there is no ceasefire for humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip and the exit of foreigners,” said a terse statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.
The statement came after the Reuters news agency, citing two Egyptian security officials, said Israel had agreed to halt fire from 9 a.m. in a deal with Egypt and the US.”

Gaza aid in doubt as Israel, Hamas deny border ceasefire

The fate of aid deliveries and limited evacuations through the only entry to Gaza not controlled by Israel was in question on Monday, after Egyptian sources said a temporary truce was struck but Israel and Hamas said no deal was in place.

Agree.
Desperately horrible for civilians
Can we have some more energy from the Muslim world in calling for Hamas to surrender hostages and for the sake of Palestinian children?!
Israel has no choice but to hunt down Hamas and try and rescue their hostages.

The Patriarch of Jerusalem has offered himself in exchange for the hostage children and elderly - to silence

I look forward to all the posters claiming that Israel was trying to enforce Egyptian blockade too rather than simply make independent decisions for their own trade coming back to apologise and recognise their biases.

Will you be apologising and recognising your bias? As it seems, per the Israel Times, that the Israel Government or military refusing a cease fire in that area so the crossing can safely open is indeed a cause of the Rafah crossing having been closed all week and not yet open? I don’t think that the Israel Times would publish anti-Semitic propaganda fwiw.

I won’t apologise for something I haven’t said. Israel laid out clear terms for a ceasefire including the return of all hostages. Peace takes two: Palestinians should look at Hamas when they ask why this week is so dreadful.

Isn’t that definition of Israel enforcing their blockade though? They laid out clear terms return the hostages or no exceptions to the blockade? So as a matter of fact the posters you have called biased, were not biased, as Israel is in fact enforcing their blockade.

TrailingLoellia · 16/10/2023 12:21

“Several Likud ministers were vehemently opposed to the reported US-brokered temporary truce.

Energy Minister Israel Katz said he “bitterly opposes the opening of the blockade and the introduction of goods into Gaza on humanitarian grounds.”
“Our commitment is to the families of the murdered and kidnapped hostages — not to the Hamas murderers and those who helped them,” he said.

Culture Minister Miki Zohar also objected: “Those who massacre children, rape women and kidnap babies do not deserve any mercy.””

It wholly contradicts your claim that Israel was not enforcing the Gaza blockade including the Rafa crossing from Egypt but “simply make[ing] independent decisions for their own trade” and supports what the other posters stated.

You’re coming across as biased.

Um, no. Israel aren’t providing goods or services to Gaza. Posters were (and some still are) insisting they’re also forcing Egypt and others to cease any provision of assistance when actually that was the decision of other states. So yes, people who blame Israel for everything when actually it’s a common feature across nation-states are more than biased - they’re anti semitic, as they’re singling out Israel for criticism.

You can familiarise yourself with the definition here. Hope that helps.

Israel Katz should shut his trap. Israel is in a mess in part because of his extremity.

Notwithstanding the unity government, I hope this prompts the Israelis to vote differently once and if there is peace. Making war is ultimately about failure, though Israel must defend itself

The PM of Pakistan ( Pakistan does not recognise Israel) has called for a ceasefire by Israel.
He should be calling Hamas to surrender and to release the Palestinian civilians. Israel is absolutely surrounded.
It's going to take bravery from the Muslim world to stand up to bloodthirsty Islamists.
As I've said before Netanyahu has faced plenty of opposition this year and also right now for his far right stance.

Needspace2023 · 16/10/2023 12:29

We all know if the PM dared speak out against Hamas he'd be assasinated today in hos own country.
Where do we keep making excuses for terrorists that have hijacked Islam and the Palestinian cause?

Katz is a truly strange man, and has been forever even when Likud didn’t need very right wing coalition partners. Every time an Arabic speaking person gets lost in Israel, I know it’s his fault.

Can you please explain why is Netanyahu carpet bombing a city with 46%children. As of today 800 children have been killed in 8 days.

Why does a progressive country like Israel thinks this is a sensible thing to do?

Would you punish whole of America for it's mass shooters?

I have just checked CNN live as as of 15 minutes ago, they are reporting that the Rafah crossing is still closed, it has not been opened and no humanitarian aid has gotten through.
https://edition.cnn.com/middleeast/live-news/israel-news-hamas-war-10-16-23/index.html
Here are the latest developments:

  • Rafah crossing: Hundreds of thousands of Gazans have abandoned their homes in the north after Israel warned them to evacuate southwards. Israel has closed its two border crossings with Gaza and imposed a “complete siege” of the territory. That has left the Rafah crossing as the only viable outlet to get people out of the enclave – and supplies into it. After days of speculation, there is still no indication that the crossing will open, despite US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s “promise” on Sunday. Officials in Egypt, Israel and Gaza have all said that there is no arrangement to open the crossing as yet, leaving humanitarian aid to pile up on the Egyptian side of the border.”
  • Water supply: The director of Gaza’s water authority told CNN on Monday that water supply has not yet been restored to the enclave. “I strongly deny the news of supplying Gaza Strip with water, these are false allegations and lies,” Munther Shublaq said. His comments came a day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office told CNN that Israel had turned on water to southern Gaza. US national security advisor Jake Sullivan also shared the positive development with CNN – before Shublaq on Monday denied the reports. The UN Office for Humanitarian Affairs has warned that “as a last resort, people are consuming brackish water from agricultural wells.”
  • Hostage update: At least 199 people are being held hostage in Gaza, IDF spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said Monday. The previous count had been that 155 people were being held hostage after being taken across the border by Hamas militants during their attack on Israel on October 7. Hamas had previously said that it would start executing hostages if Israel targeted people in Gaza without warning. US President Joe Biden said Friday he had spoken with the families of the 14 Americans who remain unaccounted for in Israel. National Security Council coordinator for strategic communications John Kirby said a “handful” of those individuals are among those being held hostage by Hamas. Biden pledged to do “everything possible” to ensure the Americans’ return.
  • Blinken’s diplomacy: Blinken has been on a whistle-stop tour of the Middle East – with visits to Israel, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Qatar – as part of an urgent effort to prevent Israel's war against Hamas and a resulting civilian catastrophe in Gaza from escalating into a regional conflict. Blinken returned to Israel on Monday after an earlier visit last week, to meet with Netanyahu in Jerusalem. Blinken is also scheduled to meet with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and opposition leader Yair Lapid, according to a US official.

Israel warns of new phase in war on Hamas, as Gaza civilians flee and Israeli troops gather near border | CNN

Whole families are being wiped of together. 15-30 members at a time.
Babies are arriving in hospital with no surviving family members. Hospitals are out of water. 21 hospitals have been asked to evacuate or else..
Convoys or Palestinians being forced out of the city are being bombed 70people killed at once.

1 million Gazans forced out of their city their home in 24 hours.

How do you explain 800 babies killed in 8 days?

Is this careful precision bombing by idf?

A sophisticated defence force can't think of another way to get to Hamas without the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians?

In this day and age of AI and modern intelligence Netanyahu decideds and you support him of throwing the same number of bombs in Palestine which America dropped in a whole year in Afghanistan, Israel did in 7 days?

I stand with humanity and I say this is another genocide in the making. We will look back in time and wonder how did we support this.

Your link doesn’t confirm that humanitarian aid has been let into Gaza from Egypt. It is only reporting the fact that Gaza fuel trucks have been allowed to “enter the Rafah crossing” which is literally the queue to go through the border and matches what CNN reported and I posted earlier.

So you accept that supplies have entered the crossing, and that they’ve entered previously. You accept that Israel have to approve goods, and that humanitarian supplies did get in the first few days. So if we know that supplies entered, and we know that Israel must approve supplies as a prerequisite to enter, what does that show?

Also ‘even BBC’ is hilarious.
