It's worried about the rise of anti-semitism. Do you think the same thing will happen here?

I have seen footage of various pro Palestine demos from around the world and whilst some people may be there to protest against the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza it is undeniable that some people attending have expressed very clear antisemitic sentiments, "gas the Jews" can hardly be interpreted as legitimate criticism of the Israeli government.

The Pro-Israel demos I’ve seen are horrific - they truly regard Palestinians as human animals.

Are you joking? I live near a Jewish area in the UK and there has been abuse towards Jewish people and the synagogue has been targeted. People are quite rightly scared.

CaughtUpInYourWishingWell · 13/10/2023 00:28

Next time there's a terrorist attack in London (and there will be at some point no doubt), I'll blame us Brits for colonialism. How dare we take all the land we have.

In fact, I'm thinking of selling my house and handing my money back to the millions of Africans who are dying from lack of water. It's our fault because we stripped their land of valuables, enslaved their people and still to this day have unfair trading agreements.

Who else is up for this? Come on, it's our fault for what happened, let's make it up to them and end their suffering!

Hang on... No one's going to want that as it'll actually affect their lifestyle...

Scrap that, let's all go back to hating Israel and Jews, at least that won't actually affect our lives but we can feel good about it hey?

Absolute hypocritics.

I hope peace comes quickly. I hope all innocent people survive. I fucking blame Hamas, because they caused it.

MariaLuna · 13/10/2023 00:30

And Hamas a.k.a. Palestinians

FFS. Hamas are a terrorist organisation that have nothing to do with peaceful, Palestinians living around the world..

Bit like saying all Irish Catholics support the IRA.

I would do a bit of history reading to catch up before sprouting bullshit.

etmoietmoietmoi · 13/10/2023 00:23

@AgaMM Show my a link that confirms local authorities have adopted a policy that claims, in your words, that "criticising Israel is anti-Semitic"? I assume you mean the IHRA is the source, yet it just does not say this. So again, what you said was a lie.

Here's the policy? Perhaps you could show me exactly where it says what you claim.
https://www.holocaustremembrance.com/resources/working-definitions-charters/working-definition-antisemitism

Honestly, I think you need to have a closer read if you are unable to spot the examples given as including criticism of Israel, including its policy.

ketchup07070 · 13/10/2023 00:31

Hamas caused this retaliation, but I can't remember what caused the bombing of Gaza in 2021. Was it something in the west bank?

Notanotherhousepost · 13/10/2023 00:31

Scrap religion - removes 90% of conflict

Queucumber · 13/10/2023 00:31

The I.D.F. didn’t murder that woman in 1982.

Brrrrrrrrrrrr · 13/10/2023 00:32

I hope they do ban them here, what an abomination given the recent terrorist attacks in Israel. Utterly disgusting. Hamas is a terrorist organisation and supporting them too should be outlawed completely.

etmoietmoietmoi · 13/10/2023 00:35

@AgaMM Show me then! Please do quote it back to me. There is literally nothing in there that says "criticism of Israel is antisemitism". You're just gaslighting now.

Here's what is says:

needtonamechangeforthis1 · 13/10/2023 00:36

Ffs!! Listen to yourselves!!! This thread is shocking!

Hamas has committed a heinous crime. Nothing and nobody can condone what they have done.

The Israeli government is also now acting in an hideous manner. 100x more people will end up dead in Gaza than Hamas has killed.

Violence is never the answer.

Hamas needs to be removed yes. But flattening Gaza and the 2 million people living there is nothing short of genocide.

People should be allowed to protest against what the Israeli government are doing. That is not antisemitic.

I personally call out and protest against what both Hamas and the Israeli government have done.

The media have backtracked on this statement as it is not true and the IDF have said they cannot confirm if this happened to baby's.

They beheaded adults. And riddled the bodies of infants and babies with bullets. I suppose that’s less egregious, uh? A little more tolerable 🙄.

Notanotherhousepost · 13/10/2023 00:41

But if you remove islam and judaism and look at people - there would not be a problem.

Human insistance on explaining the inexplicable and not just accepting that any religion just kicks the "where do we come from" can down the road is the cause of so much war, female abuse and shit it should be outlawed

We don't know how we are created. Any god creationer just removes it one step because who created god. We are all on a small rock rotating about a star - we have our advantages and disadvantages based on where on the rock we were born and we make the best of it.

Thats all anyne can do

ketchup07070 · 13/10/2023 00:45

It's obviously much worse than previously and the atrocities were the trigger this time, but bombing Gaza is referred to as 'mowing the lawn.'

Are you being deliberately obtuse?

On Sunday morning a kosher restaurant in Golders Green had windows smashed and there were antisemitic graffiti on two railway bridges. Thankfully cleaned off within hours by the council.

Yesterday I had to walk past two police officers at the entrance to Golders Green station and two more patrolling the platform. The CST working with the police have reported 89 antisemitic incidents since Sunday.

Do you really think Jews feel safe right now.

Misinformation and fake news should be taken very seriously. The media made it about, "who has killed who more vilioently." It shouldn't be about that. An innocent person is an innocent person.

All horrific but obviously very different, and propagandist language. Beheading 40 babies as headline news is going to entice racial and ethnic hatred towards the very people that the UK are supporting the current genocide of - very convenient.

The Israeli forces have riddled the bodies of thousands of infants and children with bullets during the occupation - why aren’t they classed as a terrorist state?

FairylightsandHygge · 13/10/2023 01:05

Why should Egypt accept people fleeing Gaza? Gaza is the home of Palestinians and they should be able to live there and not be bombed in what the UN has described as an open air prison. So many apologists for Israeli atrocities that have been taking place against Palestinians for 75 years. 6 million Palestinians have had to flee Palestine over 75 years and are not allowed to return. Why should more have to join that number?

Really wish people would educate themselves on apartheid in Israel and not just lap up cheap headlines.

Criticising the crimes of the Israeli government is not antisemitism. Supporting the right of Palestinians to live freely is not antisemitism.

If you supported Ukrainian right to freedom but refuse to support Palestinians, you are brainwashed hypocrites.

FairylightsandHygge · 13/10/2023 01:13

Yes and the White House back tracked within hours and said he had not seen any evidence. But of course that won't be front page news or you'll choose to ignore that little fact.

Lilacanemone · 13/10/2023 01:14

MustbeFeverTree · 12/10/2023 22:02

Are they banning pro Israel demos? Not worried about Islamaphobia?

I’m sure they will if they involve celebrating the deliberate abduction and murder of children and calling for attacks on other communities.

FairylightsandHygge · 13/10/2023 01:18

In Ireland you had peace talks when it was decided to actually listen to the IRA and sit at a table with them. The Israeli government refuses to come to the table and talk. They refuse to recognise any elected leader of Palestine.

There are no winners in this. The Israeli population is deeply critical of Netanyahu but of course after this they will all come together and support him.

Meanwhile Palestinians continue to suffer. It is abhorrent.

Ukraine hasn’t spent years attacking Russian citizens and trying to wipe them off the face of the earth. There is no comparison and it’s an insult to Ukrainians to suggest there is.
