It's worried about the rise of anti-semitism. Do you think the same thing will happen here?

Still no answer then.

I never understand why people think demonstrations make any difference to anything. A million people demonstrated, peacefully, against Blair’s wars and it did not stop him

even Tho the government will do whatever they want … proofs not everyone agrees with what is done. I’m glad many people are posting not in my name after EU met with Israel on Friday to give them the EUs support. Glad people are reacting to it. We are not all proud of what Israel is doing and has been doing for years. If we all stayed at home with no demos then we will be sheep’s doing what the government wants

I know this is an emotive subject so I'm asking politely, honestly, but some of you seem to be intent on leapfrogging around MN and continually crayoning over every thread that has Israel/Palestine/Hamas in the title, regardless of the thread context.

Any chance you could at least leave this one thread for the locals or those planning to visit, or at least for discussion directly related to the situation in France - some of us actually do live here and what goes on on the streets may directly effect us?

Arras terror attack: France on highest alert as Islamist terrorism strikes schools again

Dominique Bernard, 57, was killed outside a high school in Arras on Friday by Mohammed M., 20, a young Islamist who was being monitored by the intelligence services.

A peaceful protest against the inhumane genocide of Gaza took place in London yesterday. It was attended by in excess of 100,000 people from all walks of life, of all ages, families with young children. There was music, dancing and clapping and an abundance of Palestinian flags. People poured out in their thousands to show their love for Palestine people and empathy for the years of suffering they have endured and this latest massacre and genocide.

Protests should never be outlawed. People should never be prevented from speaking out against injustice and war crimes.

See an aerial view of this unprecedented support for the people fo Gaza and Palestine from London. The media certainly will not show it to you.

depends on your definition of peaceful protest. Some protesters had sick parachute photos on their backs as a nod to the terrorists who flew in to the festival to rape and mutilate.
Let's not forget the median age of people in Palestine is 18 and they've been brainwashed from birth to hate Jews. Hamas support is huge.

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 15/10/2023 08:19

That protest wasn’t peaceful. Some of the activists sought out people who they thought were Jewish on the route to taunt them about the rape and murder of Jewish families. It was a sickening display equal to an EDL March.

FairylightsandHygge · 15/10/2023 07:31

I can't even begin to argue with your ignorance. It's exhausting.

And your lies are just crazy. And repetitive.

Israel needs to stop committing war crimes, stop bombing civilian populations, stop starving people and cutting off the water supplies that they control in their entirety while bleating about Hamas.

When the monster that is the Israeli regime becomes civilized maybe there can be peace.

Here is a Palestinian Jew talking about what needs to happen. Maybe you will listen to him.

After the attacks by Hamas, that killed 1300 civilians & resulted in 150 plus kidnapped - what should Israel have done? based on the fact they cannot kill... according to your link.

That Rabbi is saying Jews cannot have their own state, so what you want is the Israelis to pack up and leave, not peace.

If you don't believe that (odd seeing you posted it) should Israel attack a Hamas rocket launch site that is in a populated area or on the roof of civilian building? or let them carry on killing Israelis?

User1437957 · 15/10/2023 08:24

A genocide is happening in Gaza in realtime and being broadcast to the world on X, instagram and all social media platforms.
It seems futile but the least we can do is protest.

Can I have a link from reliable sources about this please ?

FOJN · 15/10/2023 08:26

Lastchancechica · 15/10/2023 07:36

So you acknowledge one of the main reasons why there has been no peace agreement to date is because Hamas and by extension Gaza refuse to engage?

Hamas and by extension Gaza

And there we have it - all the Palestinians in Gaza are terrorists so killing them is OK.

There have been no elections in Gaza since 2007. Half the population is under the age of 18. The people of Gaza did not choose Hamas, they're caged in with them, with nowhere to go.

Civilised societies usually have sympathy for the populations of countries who suffer under oppressive regimes. Israel and Hamas ignore the human rights of the civilian population of Gaza.

You can't fart in Gaza withou a permit from Israel, everything that goes in or comes out is under the control of Israel or Egypt, the people living there have no opportunity to improve their material circumstance.

When you build a prison you do have some responsibility for the inmates. Israel is now withholding water from the Palestinian prisoners they are holding so let's not pretend that in Gaza it's simply a matter of them choosing to let the population there sort their own resources out.

yes. And supporters of the protest want their heads wobbling for backing it. If you believe that no one in that crowd hates jews you're utterly hopelessly deluded. Most of them are antisemites. The protest was full of blatant, unashamed, some might even say proud antisemitism. Palestinian children are brainwashed from birth to hate Jews.
Those of you posturing your support for Palestine from your suburban semi in the home counties should move over there for a while and experience what it's like to be female in Palestine. They don't care too much for human rights. Use their people as human shields. Send their sons off to become suicide bombers.

Yes it was, but it wasn't simply a teacher - ex-student spat, there appears to be much more to it than that..some insight here though to get fuller details you need to get past the pay wall or check other (French) sources:

https://www.lemonde.fr/en/france/article/2023/10/14/who-is-mohammed-m-the-man-who-carried-out-a-knife-attack-at-a-school-in-arras_6171906_7.html

Who is Mohammed M., the man who killed a teacher at a school in Arras?

Mohammed M. arrived in France in 2008 with his family from the Russian region of Inushetia.

I have posted that to show you that when people claim that Israel was created for Jewish people, not all of them were on board with it. Many of them were living happily side by side with their Arab neighbours.

What has happened over time is that many of the Arabs, including Jews and Christians, have been displaced and settlers have ben brought in, many of whom are completely secular and don't give a monkeys about Jewish people.

I keep hearing "what can Israel do?" and I repeat Israel can stop annexing land, stop treating Arabs as second class citizens, stop the systematic oppression of the Palestinian people, stop denying their history, stop erasing their culture.

Unfortunately many supporters of Israel are totally blinkered and refuse to see oppression and occupation of an indigenous Palestinian population as a problem.

So you refuse to answer anything i asked?

You appear to want the Israelis to capitulate and in your world Hamas (who want Israel to be destroyed) will suddenly rescind this and become peace makers, happy for a 2 state solution.

No they wouldn't, they d go into Israel and kill any Jew they could find & they wouldn't stop.

i know that the DM is a sensational paper. However, there is a photo of two people with paraglider stickers on their back.

Not that nice as it was the paragliders who murdered the civilians in Israel - in an attack targeted at civilians- last week. What do you think?

Nationwide pro-Palestine protests turn ugly

Footage shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, shows crowds chanting that 'Israel, the UK, France and Italy' are 'terrorist states' as they marched through the streets of London
