I have very little money to spare so I've recently got into charity shopping. I bloody love it!

Today I purchased 2 T-shirts, a pair of grey jeans and a real silver ring with an aquamarine stone all for £4.96. What a bargain.

This makes me incredibly happy!

I also had a voucher for Christmas and today got my nose pierced (again)!

It's those little things....

What made you happy?

My autistic son, who started secondary school this year, has just cuddled up in bed with me and told me about a girl he sits next to in a class, who he likes and is possibly becoming his friend. He asked me how you know when someone is a friend. All this melted my heart. It's a big deal for him, not many people understand him.

A fairly clean house and lovely clean changed bedding !

I found a tweed yarn after days of looking - had to order it from the UK because nobody seems to stock that particular King Cole yarn here yet - and found a cable cardigan pattern to make once it arrives. And for once it's in DK and needles bigger than I usually use! Can't abide using smaller than 4.5mm.

My sisters cancer hasn't spread 😊

That's just wonderful; happy for you both. 💐🥳🙂

Cleaned out/tidied up my garage ahead of winter; huge relief.

Received some craft supplies I'd ordered.

Stopped on whim at charity shop and got a nice little bookshelf for 20 quid.

Watched lots of little birds drinking from freshly filled birdbaths; was glad I'd made the effort.

What a lovely thread, I'm smiling away reading these (but ouch @SarahBeara1 , you poor thing).

Mine is a daft one really. We have 6 dogs, nearly all rescues. Our most recent addition to the pack is a wee Spaniel who was handed in to my vet to be PTS because she was so destructive - she isn't at all, she just likes carrying things, she hasn't destroyed anything here. Anyway, she just loves to learn, so we've taught her all sorts of daft things. I'm actually allergic to dogs (I know!) so I do sneeze quite a lot, and I've been working on teaching her to bring me a packet of tissues when I sneeze. Tonight she did it!!!

I sneezed 3 times in a row, and felt her clambering up on to my knee with a wee pack of hankies, tail going round and round like a helicopter 🤗. What a fantastic wee dog, I can't believe we've got her.

I've had the downstairs decorated this week and it was finished today and I love it

I early retired abroad this year (I am 55) I was hoping to meet a lot of women in my little condo community, but most , although lovely are not retired yet and these are their second homes so they only come once in a while for a week or so. I have been SO lonely (husband is great, but for girl chat not so great lol) Last week a very good friend asked me if I was available for a visit this week. She offered to get an airbnb. We said no ..stay. She has chipped in with dishes and walking the dogs and just been a model houseguest. Today is her last full day before flying back to canada. This was our lunch view! Totally made me happy today.

I love this so much! Any chance of a photo of her?

Second the motion for a photo 🙂

SkyFullofStars1975 · 14/10/2023 03:51

@CarrieMoonbeams my two are spaniels. Best dogs in the world Grin What a clever girl you have - they know when they are loved and safe. Thank you for being such a good soul.

CarrieMoonbeams · 14/10/2023 04:10

@LaurieStrode and @Catsmere , it probably sounds silly but I don't post photos of them because I feel a bit sensitive for their previous owners. It's very outing but we also currently have 2 cats, a rabbit and 2 snakes, all of them are rescued too. We could set up as a small zoo!

@SkyFullofStars1975 , aww thank you, that's very kind. They are fantastic wee dogs aren't they? My only non-rescued dog is a Springer, he's an old boy now but really looks after everyone. He's Chief Cuddler, everyone likes to snuggle up with him. This new wee girl is a Working Cocker, wow, she's full of beans! A really comical dog though, and so loving.

Catsmere · 14/10/2023 05:59

@CarrieMoonbeams, that doesn’t sound silly, it sounds very sensible - and thoughtful.

SarahBeara1 · 15/10/2023 04:07

This made me happy! Realising I can take this kind of photo with my iPhone 14 pro!

Also, did a bit more charity shopping today and got an 'official' Hogwarts sweatshirt for my sons partner for £2 and a T-shirt for my son for 99p!

Something that made you happy today.

I had a perfect day off today. Weather was bright, sunny and cool for this late in spring, 16°, cool enough to wear my favourite knitwear. The knitting group was back to full numbers, a dozen friends sitting chatting, and then some of us went to a local bakery for lunch. The talk was cheerful, personal and not one word about politics or war or anything else, and there were quite a few pet updates. Best knitting group day I've had in quite a while. And when I got home Miss Megacolon had used the litter, which is always good news.
