Something that made you happy today.

I have very little money to spare so I've recently got into charity shopping. I bloody love it!

Today I purchased 2 T-shirts, a pair of grey jeans and a real silver ring with an aquamarine stone all for £4.96. What a bargain.

This makes me incredibly happy!

I also had a voucher for Christmas and today got my nose pierced (again)!

It's those little things....

What made you happy?

I haven't worked for years, for some deeply unhappy reasons, and today managed to negotiate my online DBS form successfully for a volunteering post. Made me feel like I might just be able to scrabble back to the surface again.

The turf was laid in my garden today. The work started a year ago. Then my bf split with me in May and I thought he wouldn’t come back and finish it especially since he was no contact for long time.
But he has almost finished (he is being paid for the work - it is his job). We still get on very well, but he may disappear completely when he is finished.

Twospaniels · 12/10/2023 19:25

My daughter's house sale and purchase completed today after a delay of 2 months from the original completion date. She is now 38.5 wks pregnant so it was lovely to get her settled and unpacked into her new house and her hospital bags are by the front door. We celebrated with a chippy tea (essential for a house move day dinner)

My small person coming home from nursery school with his communication switch, watching him try really, really hard to get his hand where it needed to be to press it then finally getting there and doing it. He did his happy dance when the recording on the switch told me something he'd done well at school today. He's 3, with complex disabilities but school is opening up a whole new world for him.

Beautiful! Well done to your little guy!

Tisfortired · 12/10/2023 19:28

Took DS2 to a local baby group and he LOVED it. Last time we went he just kind of lay there but today he was interacting with the other babies, playing, and laughing so much. He had a great time.

MaidOfSteel · 12/10/2023 21:29

The electric blanket I ordered has arrived today and I love it already. How have I gone 50+ years without an electric blanket!

coolkatt · 12/10/2023 22:46

Catsmere · 12/10/2023 23:21

I found the sort of yarn I was looking for for my next project, even though I did have to order it from Britain! (A newish King Cole line that doesn't seem to be available here yet.)

Yesterday I had an even better exercise session, despite missing it last week - got through more of the program and wasn't significantly tired or sore at the end.

And my cat has forgiven me for putting flea drops on her half an hour ago. Usually she sulks for ages! 😄

VittysCardigan · 12/10/2023 23:28

DS2's gf has just started a beauty course at college & needs people to practice on so today I had a facial which included neck, shoulder & hand massage for £5. My skin feels amazing.

LaurieStrode · 13/10/2023 10:05

The stray cat I've been helping found the heated cat hut I put in the garden and was lying in it peering out at me.

Will give me immense peace of mind this winter. 🙂

mbosnz · 13/10/2023 10:55

That's lovely LaurieStrode! Thank you - that made me happy too!

My cat sitting on my lap, pinning me down so I can't do the ironing, DH working from home, roasties in the oven, to make roast hash patties with for lunch with a poached egg - these things make me happy.

Silkiebunny · 13/10/2023 11:01

Our kitchen was started end August saying 2 weeks but keep getting delays but today the tiler came and hoping the rest of them turn up this afternoon and it might finally get finished. It looks lovely and all appliances are working already.

Our Maine coon cat is super excited about all these men coming which he assumes are all for him and we have 1.1 metres of very excited cat trilling and zooming around and the men all love him.

drivinmecrazy · 13/10/2023 11:08

DD2 coming home from uni for the weekend.
Super excited as haven't seen her for a month.
I'm trying to convince myself she's coming home cos she misses me rather than she's only coming home because DD2 is taking her to the cinema this evening to watch the Taylor Swift thing.
I can't wait, her cats and the puppy think I've gone mad because I'm dancing around the kitchen 😂

Wheeeeee · 13/10/2023 15:44

@mbosnz thanks! Don't think it's really sunk in yet...!

SkyFullofStars1975 · 13/10/2023 15:52

I've got tonsillitis and feel dreadful but my lovely dogs are snuggled up beside me on the sofa with a blanket, we're listening to the wind howling and the rain lashing against the windows, the heating's on low, the lamps are on and I'm binge watching Yellowstone. Can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be at this moment.

Girasoli · 13/10/2023 16:03

I found some winter boots today that were a)comfy b)affordable c) real leather. Usually I end up having to buy girls boots, so it was nice to actually get a ladies pair this time.

DS1 got a certificate at school today. Its nice to know he tries hard at school, at home all he ever talks about is football or youtube!

Ohyoudodoyou · 13/10/2023 16:05

I added a mini Christmas pudding (just for me, never buy one but I love it so this is mine!) and some mint matchmakers to my Christmas stash. I already have some mini mince pies and cranberry sauce with ruby port. It's in a cupboard piling up and makes me happy!

The electric blanket I ordered has arrived today and I love it already. How have I gone 50+ years without an electric blanket!

Make sure you put it on your hive or google so you can turn it on before you get into bed! I'm going to plug mine back in, been a bit chilly today!

plumtreebroke · 13/10/2023 16:07

Completed my Tax Self Assessment, thanks be! Have to check it tomorrow then done for another year whoopi.

Really must get a life!

Ohyoudodoyou · 13/10/2023 16:08

Oh just reading some of these, little kids, dogs, people overcoming illness/disadvantage.. nice upbeat thread.

SarahBeara1 · 13/10/2023 22:47

Friday the 13th wasn't too kind to me.

Firstly I straightened my thumb whilst doing my hair, I now have a thumb that is a big bubble of blister....

Then my sister was an a*hole to me for an hour straight.

Finally I tripped over a rain mat they had down in Sainsbury's and hit the floor so hard I can barely walk now...

On the upside I was smile at by at least 6 men!!!!!
That never happens .... Blush
