Something that made you happy today.

I have very little money to spare so I've recently got into charity shopping. I bloody love it!

Today I purchased 2 T-shirts, a pair of grey jeans and a real silver ring with an aquamarine stone all for £4.96. What a bargain.

This makes me incredibly happy!

I also had a voucher for Christmas and today got my nose pierced (again)!

It's those little things....

What made you happy?

My 16 yr old boy giving me a hug bye before he left for school. Can't remember the last time it happened and he was prob copying his younger sister who ran to say bye this morning but I will take it as happy moment

yarnwitch · 12/10/2023 12:52

I love a charity shop too op, the feeling when you get a good bargain is addictive Grin
I found an item on eBay I had been looking for for at least a couple of years. I don't ever buy much, excited for it to arrive.

Stephisaur · 12/10/2023 13:11

My husband is off work sick. We work together and share a lunch break.

As much as I love him to bits, I've been able to read some of my book each day at lunchtime, which has made me happy 😂I can't do it when he's here because we usually chat (or send each other reels on instagram)

Seeing the plans for my new wet room which have been approved as part of a Disabled Facilities grant
I haven't had a bath or shower this year(!)
I'm so grateful and I can't wait!

Purplecatshopaholic · 12/10/2023 13:29

Oh wow @uncomfortablydumb53, that’s awesome! My lovely cat got a clean bill of health at the vet today, so I am happy.

beguilingeyes · 12/10/2023 13:29

I found an Aquascutum duffel coat in a charity shop.

Hillrunning · 12/10/2023 13:32

I fit I to a dress that I bought 7 years ago and have never managed to get into it. It isn't my style anymore but the fact that through 2 house moves I held onto in in hope and now I fit it made me very happy.

I also have covid and subsequently had to cancel lots of fun plans but today I finally felt well enough to do some weeding in the sunshine so that was food for the soul.

Thank you!
I'm so glad your cat is well, it's such a worry when they're not themselves

My GP she is the best GP in the whole world!

mathanxiety · 12/10/2023 15:09

@SarahBeara1 I love thrift shopping too.

I recently bought a lovely leather Radley pocket bag for $4.99. Yesterday's foray yielded an Anne Taintor mug.

It's pouring rain today, but it's my wfh day. No getting soaked waiting for the train for me - yay! And I didn't have to be up at the crack of silly o'clock either.

cornflower21 · 12/10/2023 15:19

Had a lovely work breakfast with my boss and my colleague, we were chatting about everything and laugh a lot.

The glorious sunshine and beautiful autumn.

Mine son telling me he loves me.

Plus a great bargain at the charity shop- barely worn winter Reggata jacket for my son just for £4.

SherbetLemonn · 12/10/2023 15:24

Bloody love a charity shop bargain!!

My not-quite two year old son dropped his (very bloody heavy) Britains combine harvester on my toe which cut it open and it’s now very purple and swollen (bear with me, honest 😂) and when I shrieked said OW and got a bit teary, he said ‘oh no, oh dear, sorry’ and patted my hair and gave my toe a kiss better before giving me a big cuddle and a gross, slobbery kiss 😭 so cute.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 12/10/2023 16:05

I bought a new dress for New Year’s Eve. Ok, I can’t really afford it but it was massively reduced in TKMax and I haven’t bought myself so much as a pair of socks all year. I also went into town with a friend from work at lunch time and I haven’t had a “girly shopping trip” since I was a teenager so I got a bit carried away. I didn’t think it would fit as it’s a size 6 and teeeeeny but when I tried it fit like a glove so I had to have it 🥰.

Globally delayed, disabled DC3 is finally starting to toilet train (she's almost 6).

Have checked the forecast for our week away and it's not pissing down everyday (it's a UK break so I fully expect this to change 😂)

Clever girl! I wish her every success.

Crikeyalmighty · 12/10/2023 17:34

Got my penultimate essay mark for my degree back today and I got my highest mark in 3 years so am buzzing!!

ColinRobinsonsFart · 12/10/2023 17:52

I actually went to work today.

I am a health and safety trainer but I haven't worked for a couple of months ( tbh I have only worked six days since January) as I have been seriously ill.

I am already in bed and I am knackered but I feel great mentally- my students were wonderful as usual. All blokes and I had taught most of them before. They knew I had been poorly so when they saw me this morning I got lots of hugs and I had cups of tea made for me all day.

Did I say I was knackered?

Redlarge · 12/10/2023 17:52

Finally attacked the spare bedroom and have 2 full bags for bin and 2 for charity shop x

Awww xxx

Hardbackwriter · 12/10/2023 18:00

I want to carry it on too! I had a really crap day today but I had a bagel with avocado and smoked chilli for lunch and it made me very happy indeed.

XMissPlacedX · 12/10/2023 18:10

Watching my Jack Russell play football (with a tennis ball 🎾) in the garden for about 10 minutes this morning, such a cute and clever boy.

SarahBeara1 · 12/10/2023 18:14

Amazing responses .... :-)
I'm so happy for all of you.

I delivered the cake I made to my neighbour and her husband answered (he's very sick with cancer and heart problems), he was so grateful. A few minutes after I got home the woman called me and she was so pleased. There's nothing better than making others happy :-)
