Does anyone else feel sad when TV series finish?

I love watching really long boxsets but there are the odd few that I can't wait to watch and see what happens but equally I really miss watching them once they are finished.

I felt really sad when How I Met Your Mother finished, i binged that recently, Barney was probably one of my favourite ever tv characters, I have felt the same about quite a few others. I think it's mainly when I binge them though rather than watch them over a long period of time.

Has anyone else watched others they feel like that about?

I'm still gutted they stopped making The Coroner. I've wasted ages making up plot lines for a new series and imagining what would have happened to the central characters.

MyNumber1Rule · 05/10/2023 20:04

Ah yes definitely to Friends, Suits and This Is Us for sure. Also Craxy Ex Girlfriend and Scandal.

I am loving the ideas for my next binge watch also.

I started Parks and Recs and wasn't sure but maybe I'll give that a proper go again.

I do love rewatching series also, because I binge watch and have on when I'm working I miss bits so I always love them 2nd (or 3rd) time round.

Got for sure. And the last series was so bad, but not even dragons has reached the height of the badness of the last episode. Miss series 1-5 so much

Yes I keep watching This Country on Iplayer over and over. I find it comforting. I'm waiting for S4.

I also watch Superstore on repeat.

HJ40 · 05/10/2023 20:11

Spooks. Oh my goodness, when Adam dies and then when it ended. I cried.

I will be very sad in 6 weeks time when Ghosts finishes.😞

Me too!

WhileMyDishwasherGentlyWeeps · 05/10/2023 20:12

I know what you mean. I miss, among others, The Bridge, Happy Valley and Schitt’s Creek, and - further back - loads of long-running ‘80s and ‘90s series.

But there are series that I regret sticking with and feel let down that they went a bit crap. House of Cards is one. Pretty poor by the end. And Grey’s Anatomy became unwatchable.

There's a Christmas special. I actually tested up talking about it with my teens just now. We were trying to guess the ending 🤷‍♀️😭

CrushingOnRubies · 05/10/2023 20:12

This is us
Friends
Suits
Mad Men - I really want them to do a reboot set in the 80s. Peggy is a lot older top of her game. And see where the kids are. Don living it up in an old people's gated community in Florida

marmitegirl01 · 05/10/2023 20:13

Teared up 🤦‍♀️🤣

Lou670 · 05/10/2023 20:15

Yes, Happy Valley. I felt the ending was rushed and could definitely have squeezed in one more episode. I wanted to see her retirement party, the teacher and pharmacist get their comeuppance and there were three dead bodies left lying in a field somewhere!

The other is 'The Fall' with Gillian Anderson. I was hooked on that one and would liked to have seen what happened to Stella afterwards in her career.

Sandrine1982 · 05/10/2023 20:16

Yes.

Mad Men.

And SATC and AJLT (I'm ashamed to say..)

mum2jakie · 05/10/2023 20:17

Better Call Saul - sad sad times when that came to an end

LindorDoubleChoc · 05/10/2023 20:18

Only with Better Call Saul - the best series I have ever seen in all my many decades.

I’m really sad that I have only got 2 episodes left of the resident
to make it worse it was cancelled , so won’t properly end 😢

Ah no really?? I've been waiting for a new season and didn't realise it's been cancelled 😞

LindorDoubleChoc · 05/10/2023 20:24

Ha ha! amazing cross post with mum2jakie!

PinkyDinkyDoodle · 05/10/2023 20:26

Endeavour. It’s not like they could keep going, though, or it would have overtaken Morse.

MyNumber1Rule · 05/10/2023 20:29

Better Call Saul and Ghosts are definitely on my list to watch next.

I do think the male lead definitely makes a difference for me to how much I miss watching a show haha! Neil Patrick Harris is gorgeous and so funny so that definitely helps in HIMYM, also same for Nathaniel in Crazy Ex Girlfriend.

And Poldark. That last series was rubbish.

CallmeDawnthen · 05/10/2023 20:38

I was beyond devastated last Monday when Police Interceptors ( Nottingham ) wasn't on! The series had ended abruptly with no warning! Grrr!

GrouchyKiwi · 05/10/2023 20:43

DH and I finally finished watching The Mentalist last night and I did have a few tears. The final season was ace.

I'm another who will be sad when Ghosts finishes.

What channel is the Mentalist on? I saw that when it first came out, really loved it.
