To be a bit fairer to Loos, this was during the absolute height of Kiss and Tell and fixation with footballers wives. And every other bottom-basement 'glamour model' was on the make with stories about a footballer, celebrity, MP they'd slept or had affairs with. It was seem as almost virtuous at the time, spun as if Kiss 'N' Tell girls were performing some sort of national service to the country.
I'm not actually sure if those - what, a couple of decades? - were a better time for women in the media than now or not🤔. Certainly you could argue that, for the first time, notice was taken not just of powerful men, but the women associated with them, and who inhabited their worlds, regardless of the status of those women. Liz Hurley as Hugh Grants very attractive plus one became big, as did equally, for a short time Divine Brown the prostitute he was caught with. Divine, made good on the money for a while. Objectively, it was a good time for mistresses and 'fast' women.
Loos simply capitulated on that. You could argue that she was always going to be used for sex and then dumped, but convinced herself it was going to be more and wanted renumeration for the hurt. These days you hear about many women (and men) being shut up by NDA's and/or pay-off's and a lot doesn't come to the light. Is that good or bad? Does it empower women with little status or disempower them?
I personally despise affairs and OW. But, taking traditional morality out of it, if true, David was willing to risk a huge public mess and very public humiliation of his wife for a few shags. The Beckhams learned from it. Their image is very tightly controlled now.
There are rumours he still cheats, but I have no idea if these are anything other than Tittle Tattle.
