Anticipation Popcorn GIF

Mine’s is that somebody hung their washing in front of their neighbour’s window (colony flats), neighbour went into the garden and pushed it to the corner of the line and left a (unnecessarily) curt note, and now the whole thing is being played out via our local share site.
I am now over invested in this dispute between two people I will never meet, over a problem of vanishing significance.

No 😂

Thankfully she has survived this time.

This time?
What happened last time? Did she come back from the dead?! 😮

Goodthingsahead82 · 03/10/2023 07:18

Does anyone know the name of the DPD driver?
Royal Mail only delivering weekly rather than daily.
Are there any takeaways open tonight?
Intact that has to be the most common theme, takeaways!!

That sounds scary......how does the medium communicate with the dog? Does the dog need to be dead?

“I see a lamppost!” “I see a cat!” “Woof!”

BlackberrySky · 03/10/2023 08:57

Last night a teenage boy was walking down a road he doesn't live on. This is clearly grounds to post his photo because he's obviously a wrong 'un and about to commit a crime 🙄

Ours is that the local park has had a makeover .... and its not good enough apparantly 🙈 .... im waiting to see how long it takes to be vandalised!

ours is that there is a planning application gone in by the local council to spruce up an attractive, peaceful old road with just the sound of the sea and the gulls overhead, an oasis of tranquility and so much a part of XXXX or the proposed Disneyland by the Sea/garden centre attracting coach loads of noisy children of all ages excited at the thought of looking at appropriate signage and cultivated flowers in rusting steel containers while mums with their screaming babies and toddlers clambering over the Disney seating and Treasure Island and yet more fishy sculptures, or spruce up a basically dead end dusty road with some plants, seating and a garden plan

Attached picture is of the Disneyland proposal...

(I've name changed for this one, as will be identifying!!)

An announcement of a peaceful protest against gender based violence. Not dramatic but has pissed off a lot of women. Of course it was a man who posted the info.

Ha! we get that here to.

The funniest one was a lad who was sitting on top of the BT box at the beginning of the street who must have been casing the street and noting peoples movements for later. Lots of theories how he had been there since early and posts of people confirming they had seen him too and whether someone should phone the police just to check him out just in case.

Until someone posted - Will you all calm the fuck down! It is my sons friend and he is waiting for lift. My son slept in so is running late. 🤣

BabyStopCryin · 03/10/2023 20:16

Lots of lost/found cats and people looking for cleaners. And thieves. We have a lot of dodgy blokes in tracksuits nicking things from doorsteps.

BabyStopCryin · 03/10/2023 20:22

And not some horrible man has taken a poo on someone’s basement flat doorstep. Do they not see the Ring??

MyCircumference · 03/10/2023 21:02

dogs apparently trapped in a house for days with a drunk man,
they have now been rescued

Oh I forgot, my fave one from the last few weeks. Our town has a bridge over a river. For years and years locals have complained about the enormous potholes on said bridge and how they always get shoddily filled in rather than a proper repair. Then this year, the council announced a full on repair, bridge needs to be closed while it is happening as they're taking most of the surface off. You'd think the town would be pleased? No, they started a petition and put a stop to the repair as they don't want the bridge closed 🤣

Blanketpolicy · 03/10/2023 21:25

Our latest post today.

This cat is sitting on a wall near tesco if anyone has lost it xxx

Cat looks, perfectly healthy and content and is on a wall at the edge of a housing estate watching the world go by, why on earth would anyone think it was lost 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Blanketpolicy that's the manager of Tesco obviously. Just keeping an eye on things....

XenoBitch · 03/10/2023 22:25

My local one had a lady posting how proud she was of her son, as he had found a woman in distress on a bridge. He talked to her, called the emergency services etc. She was taken away, and he went home.
His mum has posted asking that the lady he spoke to, PM her and reassure her son that she is ok. She called the police and understandably, they wont give any info. But she seemed so entitled to know the personal details of this poor lady, and so her son's mind can be put at rest.
It causes quite a debate tbh.

Other than that... the usual lost cats, asking why the local cop helicopter is out.

Oh, and one that was particularly annoying. Someone posted a photo of someone's car that was slightly over their own residential parking space. Believe it or not, it attracted over 200 comments, including some from people who work in planning in stuff about parking. Then the OP admitted the photo was a total set up by her and her friend. I think the people where I live really need to get a life if they think a fake parking dispute is funny.

Updateupdate · 03/10/2023 22:57

Ours is a house is finally being demolished after some renovations went wrong and a digger accidentally dug too far into a retaining wall in its garden, causing the road above to nearly collapse.
Someone has posted saying they'll run a book as to how long the road will stay closed for.
It's been 2 years so far.
This will have to beat the 7 year closure of another road about 500 yards away that also had problems with a retaining wall. ( council vs owner as to who should pay for repairs)

BabyStopCryin · 04/10/2023 17:45

The local drama llama is at it again.

It seems like every day this poor soul has to put up with people attacking and insulting them over their dog, disability (which appears to be emotional and not physical, as they dog is an emotional support dog), their gender identity, everything really…

Their timeline is one big drama. Some people are bonkers and seem to post just to get pats and sympathy.

I think they must post on MN too.

Oh, we have one of those hahaha. Every neurodiversity under the sun, along with the blue hair and teeny tiny fringe and nose ring. Everything that doesn’t go their way is because they’re autistic/queer/bpd/fibro/adhd/just a general dick

what’s the common denominator?

ehb102 · 05/10/2023 21:31

Got a body in the park this week. Everyone has been shocked into silence.

(Probably a heart attack where someone fell in the water. No apparent evidence of foul play. )

We had that a while back. "Suspicious man outside no 6. Saw him there yesterday and the day before."

Was a delivery driver for a certain takeaway they had a deal with while they had no kitchen.

verdantverdure · 06/10/2023 04:55

A lost ring, the pharmacy is under new management, the Tory MP campaigning in a General Election that hasn't been called yet, graffiti on a bus shelter.

My parent's one has some numbnuts railing against a "blanket 20mph speed limit" that doesn't exist directly above a thread about near misses to livestock by people driving above the 30mph limit. I bet he's the sort of easily manipulated dumbass who posts about not being allowed to say "Happy Christmas" from his alternate universe.

MyCircumference · 06/10/2023 06:36

a bus on fire!
waiting to find out when the road will open

VoluptuaSneezelips · 06/10/2023 11:50

This ones a little outing. About access on/off the housing estates due to a marathon. We have 2-3 marathons a year and have done for many many years now. There are posters locally, pamphlets posted locally with road closures alt routes, there is social media engagement and websites for the marathons with the info on. Yet every marathon it's the same moaning about being 'blocked in', not being able to go work/shopping/leisure activates etc. An then the arguments about empathy as they runners raise so much for charity and how the community comes together to show support (bunting, handing them water/energy snacks, playing motivational music on sound systems like eye of the tiger) and cheer them on etc.

Usually
"Those f####ing toe rags robbing the Tesco express again today. Ffs Tesco get your act together"

Today
"F###ing Tesco just got facial recognition cameras- last time I ever shop there"
