Anticipation Popcorn GIF

Mine’s is that somebody hung their washing in front of their neighbour’s window (colony flats), neighbour went into the garden and pushed it to the corner of the line and left a (unnecessarily) curt note, and now the whole thing is being played out via our local share site.
I am now over invested in this dispute between two people I will never meet, over a problem of vanishing significance.

.Then, amidst all the chaos, there is a lady that posts a photo of the sunrise and sunset from her window every single day. No one ever commented on them until she missed a day and everyone suddenly got worried and wanted to know where the sunset lady was and if she was ok! She's back to posting now and all is right in the world.

There's someone like this in another group I'm in. She posts morning and evening pictures.

"Why is the helicopter out"
🚁

Same here lol

BigcatLittlecat · 01/10/2023 12:16

Ours is about the one way system around the local shops and lack of parking! And the new 20mph speed limit and signs being vandalised! People getting quite excited!

Needmorelego · 01/10/2023 12:17

@Superhair "regional accent" 😂😂😂

Amitabha · 01/10/2023 12:18

This will be outing if you live in my area but 🤷🏻‍♀️ Mine is about use of a communal green. So a group with dogs meet up there and socialise with their dogs but they had put up a gazebo (not sure why) and had also put pots of flowers and benches there.

Others that live in that specific close did not like it so had nicknamed the group 'the doggers'.

An argument then ensued about the name doggers and whether they had the right to use the green as an extension of their own gardens.

Madness! I know it doesn't sound believable so I'll add the pics 😂

Not had one for a while, but the airplane noise posts always are lit. Town situated under flight path of international airport. Someone will complain about how loud they are, and then it’s Plane Post Comment Bingo.

“Yes, it’s a disgrace, Mrs Jones from number 42, you should write a letter to the airport because they then will definitely reconsider their noise. I will support you on this”

“I never hear them any more, because I am a Local Person. You must not be a Local Person”

“When my family moved to this town in 1804, there were no planes. It’s gone so downhill now.”

Multiple pictures of low planes over gardens.

“Did you not know there was an airport next door? You must not be a Local Person. Move back to where you came from if you don’t like it.”

Some scientific explanation of why the planes may be lower this week (eg air pressure)

“Well I bet you go on foreign holidays and don’t complain then” crew.

BINGO

This is a regular occurrence during nice wether when people are outdoors. Gets battier everytime.

McIntire · 01/10/2023 12:20

Missing cats
Pot holes
Cyclist bashing
Inconsiderate parking
Any local plumbers?
Complaints about the church bells being too loud 🙄

Beezknees · 01/10/2023 12:23

Roadworks. To be fair, the roadworks here are ridiculous, it's a medium size town and there are constant roadworks in various streets.

drspouse · 01/10/2023 12:23

Oh yes The Helicopter and also on our hyper local group there's one man obsessed with mobile phone masts that everyone else makes fun of.

Needmorelego · 01/10/2023 12:25

Any special event that's on in town....
"Oh I didn't know this was happening....why don't they advertise?"
(event is usually an annual one that has happened every year since 1786)
Followed by:
"it was advertised here on this Facebook group"
"yes but not everyone has Facebook"
"think of the old people with no computer"
😂

Tootingbec · 01/10/2023 12:25

Nottingham knockers, “Eastern European” looking men in vans attempting to kidnap women from the Aldi carpark, and “what time does the post office open?”

Pretty standard for Surrey 🤣🤣

Passepartoute · 01/10/2023 12:25

Parking tickets. The local neighbourhood voted overwhelmingly in favour of putting restrictions in place to make it easier for residents to park. Now they're absolutely furious when they get tickets for violating the restrictions they voted for.

BananaSlug · 01/10/2023 12:26

Mine is a gardener started doing work for people for donations to a charity he has set up for mental health but instead of donating the money he has kept the lot! There are frequent posts about it shaming him and then he retaliates saying he is going to call the police.

Passepartoute · 01/10/2023 12:28

Our group also regularly posts alerts about a well-known local doorstep con-artist. He must be spectacularly thick, you'd think he might have twigged by now and moved on to somewhere where he is less easily recognised.

Flubadubba · 01/10/2023 12:30

@Needmorelego SE London?

Justasking4afriend · 01/10/2023 12:31

The local escaping shar-pei dog! Its been going on for months. Started off with concern for the dog, whether it was agressive + to find the owner. The owner left the group after it escaped a few times. People confirmed its not agressive + after a few months of weekly escapes, the jokes and memes started. There was a sucessful petition to change the group pic to one similar to this. Then the complaints started about how horrible we all were for joking about this poor neglected dog. Admin have a pinned post about reporting it to the dog warden + have had to set up special rules about posting about the sharpie dog to stop the war of words. The sharpie pen memes recently started.
🤣😂🤣😂🤣

FacebookGroupDrama · 01/10/2023 12:31

Name change for this as location very identifiable!

There has been a town Canal Day this weekend, but someone has been altering the signs to remove the C.

Uproar I tell you!

Spudlet · 01/10/2023 12:34

Our village one is generally fairly benign - occasional dog poo moaning and lots of posts of people trying to give away absolute tat (latest contenders - a hideous little sculpture thingy of a musician of some kind which was broken, and a bike rack which may or may not have all the bits).

However our local town one is filled with ‘15 minute neighbourhoods are the first step to a police state’ and ‘use cash because they’re watching yoooooou’ nutcases…

Soubriquet · 01/10/2023 12:36

A local pub doesn’t have a ramp for a person in a wheelchair to access. The back door is also locked which is a fire hazard

chali7 · 01/10/2023 12:36

All. The. Time! 😂

Needmorelego · 01/10/2023 12:37

@FacebookGroupDrama that's my hometown!
Apparently the Canal Festival is going well though.
@Flubadubba I am on various groups for SE London and my hometown (Oxfordshire) and husbands hometown (Northamptonshire).
They are all very very similar.
The hometown ones have a bit more complaining about "no shops" and parking costs.
SE London the cats are usually a bit more middle class 😂

UncomfortableSilence · 01/10/2023 12:37

ULEZ cameras, where they've been put up and guessing how long before they are vandalised/brought down (it's usually within 24 hrs) interspersed with stolen cars, trade recommendations and the most annoying, why is the helicopter up

Waves! I probably know you, given the very few degrees of separation in said hometown Grin

The SE26 groups have a helicopter obsession...
