Hi!
So I'm looking to just chat and hang out (virtually) with some other mums who are also gamers.
None of my mum friends play and none of my gamer friends are mums.... see where I'm going here?

There MUST be others like me out there! --I'm late 30s
-Ps4 (was going to upgrade but baby #2 came along 👀)
-Open world
-SP

  • fav games are Skyrim, Witcher 3, LoU, Days Gone and Fallout

Please feel to hit me up with your favs and how/when you find time to play!

@Aria999
Fortnite isn't too bad, I managed to lock down the chat function so he can only talk to his friends, which he needs a password to add, so I know who they all are. Out of the two Roblox is harder to control for the talking to stranger aspect, but I do monitor that closely, luckily Roblox can be logged into from a phone, so that makes monitoring a little easier.

Need some good PlayStation recommendations please? I have PlayStation plus so games catalog etc...

No driving games, I cannot drive in a game and just constantly crash, and preferably no shooting games as I'm terrible at those, keep practicing on Fortnite as it's free Blush but the kids get frustrated I'm bad at it.

Have a look at the Uncharted collection

Phoenix9 · 14/10/2023 12:30

Thank you @Hygeelady and @eandz13

Aria999 · 14/10/2023 12:31

Thanks @Phoenix9 !

RK800 · 14/10/2023 19:34

@Phoenix9

I have a few I’d recommend. I’m really into story driven games, I think some are still on PS Plus:

Detroit: Become Human
Life is Strange
What Remains of Edith Finch
Killer Frequency
The Quarry
Until Dawn
Guardians of the Galaxy* (not usually my thing but super fun to play)
Tomb Raider Reboots*
Uncharted*

*If you aren’t great at shooting / combat, there is no shame playing on easy mode, you still get to enjoy the experience without the frustration.

Hello all!

I'm 38, 2 dds and I like gaming. Started with a NES when I was a child and now have a wii, switch, ps3 and ps4. Don't really play the wii anymore but I do use the switch and ps4.

Also used to be a PC gamer, the sims, GTA, unreal tournament etc.

Currently playing the remake of abes exodus on the ps4 but I'm stuck!

Me and DH also like playing little big planet. I think its murder but enjoy the 2 player element.

DD is 6 and loves playing Minecraft and Mario Kart on the switch.

I think I might have found my people!

Any Steamdeck players here? Long-time PC gamer but fell out of it after DC because I couldn't sit at my desktop for ages while they were little and then once I'd begun working FT from home when they were older I didn't want to be at the PC all day and then after they went to bed.

Didn't want a console as all the games I love are single player but no room for dual screens and DH and I are TV binge watch together sorts. For my birthday he got me a Steamdeck and it changed everything. I genuinely can't remember any gift that has ever given me such joy and I've played more in the last six months than I have in the last ten years. It's such an ace piece of kit. Been playing Hogwarts Legacy this afternoon while DH watches rugby and have bought loads of games I used to love to replay in various Steam sales (next up Witcher 3). Diablo 4 for Christmas!

EilonwyWithRedGoldHair · 14/10/2023 21:51

Mid 40s here. Big fan of the Deus Ex games, System Shock, Tomb Raider.

Don't get much time to game, but DH bought himself a ROG Ally this year, loaded a bunch of emulators on it so I've been replaying the PS2 version of Deus Ex (only played it once while I've played the PC version maybe 4 or 5 times).

I did manage to finally finish Tomb Raider Anniversary (originally gave up after the awful t-rex boss fight, not a patch on the original) and Underworld during lockdown.

Like to play a bit of Minecraft (creative mode, just like building stuff), and I've been hooked on Lumines on Switch, but can't get it off DS to play on - DS is autistic, obsessed with Nintendo generally, Mario specifically atm. And he wants a Wii U for Christmas.

Was playing KOTOR, need to get back to that, and have long planned to play Planescape: Torment.

Also watch DH play - we don't watch much TV! Currently we're playing Death Stranding (no good for me, I'd obsess over delivering every lost parcel but I'm intrigued by the story), really enjoyed Control, Prey and Jedi Fallen Order.

And we have an Oculus Quest - Beat Saber obviously, but enjoyed The Room and Red Matter. Did try Half Life Alyx, but panicked and tried to run away from a headcrab zombie, so decided it's safer to leave that one to DH.

FrogSplash · 14/10/2023 22:08

Ooooh intrigued to know what the Ally is like @EilonwyWithRedGoldHair, someone told me the size is slightly more compact than the Steamdeck so a bit more comfortable for people with smaller hands but I'm more intrigued by battery life.

Funnily enough KOTOR is one of the games I replayed very early on - Bastila forever! 😂

EilonwyWithRedGoldHair · 14/10/2023 22:54

@FrogSplash DH researched thoroughly and went for the Ally over a Steamdeck. I find it comfortable to use, battery life is not great but we're mainly using it in the house.

But it is Windows. Thankfully DH has done all the setting up (I do enough faffing about with laptops in work), and he has found it frustrating. We've had display driver issues and update issues, which has been frustrating.

We have EmulationStation on it and that's fantastic!

eandz13 · 15/10/2023 09:32

Did anyone used to play Clock Tower on PC? Specifically Clock Tower 3? That was a brilliant game for it's day.

Also The Beast Within was fab!

I wish they'd update them and re release to PS. I don't even think my PC would support them anymore

Aria999 · 15/10/2023 12:28

@EilonwyWithRedGoldHair planescape Torment is really fun and interesting!

Haven't played kotor for ages.

Haven't played kotor for ages.

DH played it many years ago, saw a bit of it and was intrigued. But so little time! And since we found the various Gameboys and DS'es for DS, I keep falling into the trap of playing Tetris, Mr Driller, Pokémon Pinball etc

Sadly the batteries had gone on my Pokémon games, which was sad, especially Pokémon Crystal where I'd been very fond of my Skitty. Talking of getting fond of characters, anyone ever play Black and White? I had a tiger as my creature, and he tried so, so hard to be good. He only ate two people, but couldn't keep away from the sheep.

Another game I used to love was Total Annihilation. Great soundtrack as well.

Tarsandcase · 25/10/2023 15:45

I started playing the new Cities: Skylines last night and am really glad I'd only spent £1 on a 14-day Game Pass trial. I don't think I'll be properly buying the game until they release a few patches to fix some of the bugs and performance issues.

Meeee! I love my steam deck. I just bought another 1TB memory card for it because my other one is full lol.

Also played HL on there which was awesome. Now I’m playing coral island.
