Hi!
So I'm looking to just chat and hang out (virtually) with some other mums who are also gamers.
None of my mum friends play and none of my gamer friends are mums.... see where I'm going here?

There MUST be others like me out there! --I'm late 30s
-Ps4 (was going to upgrade but baby #2 came along 👀)
-Open world
-SP

  • fav games are Skyrim, Witcher 3, LoU, Days Gone and Fallout

Please feel to hit me up with your favs and how/when you find time to play!

Okay so I absolutely love AC Mirage. So far my only criticism is that the main character is an adult, bearded man from Baghdad and he has no chest hair. I find this unrealistic - a bit like AC Valhalla has grey squirrels (in 873AD there would have only been red squirrels in England).

PeggyPiglet · 06/10/2023 17:46

Not at the moment, but I played WoW for about 10 years, obsessively.

Then my DD came along and I just couldn't raid three times a week for 4 hours like I used to.

I did play Hogwarts Legacy though.

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 06/10/2023 17:52

Yup! Early 40s here, gamed since I was about 8. Ps4, xbox and switch.

Love TLOU, days gone, horizon, life is strange, fallout 4 etc etc. Microsoft flight sim on xbox and pokemon/splatoon on switch.

My DD is a teen so plenty time to game, but she games too so when she was younger I still played👌

No gamer friends here, hope I've found my people 🙈

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 06/10/2023 17:57

Loving this thread.

I am on the Xbox these days, preferring first person shooters with a lot of Battlefield V as my go to. I do love a crime/horro but cannot find sufficient time to get into anything with a strong storyline right now. Mid 40s.

IronGwazi · 06/10/2023 18:06

I’m 47 and play Switch. In the past I’ve played games on PC and the original PlayStation, as well as ZX Spectrum 128k!

Currently playing Octopath Traveler 2. Don’t get loads of time to play due to family life and other hobbies, but aim determined to finish it. I’ve also invested a lot of time in Zelda: Breath of the Wild and I love it, but I get distracted picking apples or looking for Guardian parts…

In the olden days I also enjoyed the original Baldurs Gate, Unreal/Unreal Tournament and (in the very olden days), Knight Lore!

SoftKittyBazinga · 06/10/2023 18:17

I’m early 40w. 2 kids. An Xbox one and a PS4. Obsessed with Witcher 3 and Red Dead on the former, and AC Valhalla on the latter.

have minimal gaming time nowadays and no experience playing online as I hate all the nonsense with idiot men I don’t know. (And every time I’ve tried it’s been men!)

Dracarys1 · 06/10/2023 18:20

PC gamer, early 40s. Love Skyrim, The Sims, FF7 and FF8, 7 Days to Die (but only if DH plays too do he can help me fight the zombies! Horde night is intense!) I'm currently playing The Raft. I really love survival games. Used to play quite a bit of Minecraft. I play for an hour every night once kids are asleep. It's brilliant for switching my mum brain off for a bit!

WonkyBricks · 06/10/2023 18:32

When my husband suggested getting a PS4 a few years ago I actually pulled a 🤨 face but now I play more than he does!

I loved Witcher, Skyrim, Tomb Raider, Uncharted. Currently playing Genshin Impact which is OK but nothing on the others. I go through phases of playing Sims4 but resent the prices of the expansion packs and the gameplay is very samey. Tried Eldon Ring but couldn't even get past the tutorial 🤣 my husband enjoyed it though!

I have a 1 year old and a 6 year old and play at nap times/bed times. My 6 year old likes Minecraft and BugSnax which we play together 😊

Hi, I'm an old school AC lover aka Ezio for life or maybe Altair is it a return to the greatness of AC2 or close? (if you've played them). Fingers crossed it is!

SilverShadowNight · 06/10/2023 19:37

I'm new to gaming, and am a real amateur. My DH is into Assassin's Creed Valhalla and my DC have all grown up playing games.

I have a Switch and enjoy playing games like Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart, Luigi's Mansion, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, and Splatoon. I have the Legend of Zelda but am struggling to get into it and know what to do Grin

I think it has many similarities to Altaïr - partly because it’s actually quite difficult (far more difficult than AC Valhalla I would say). Once several guards corner you, you have pretty much no chance.

I’m really enjoying having a look around Baghdad. The scenery is the most like that in Altaïr.

CruCru · 06/10/2023 20:59

The similarity to Ezio is that there are bubbles / anomalies around the city so you can find out about Baghdad in 860AD (which is really interesting).

Englishrosegarden · 06/10/2023 21:08

I'm mid fifties and have been a gamer all my life. Used to play with my kids when they were younger and now totally hooked on Valheim which I'm playing with my 28 year old son. It's a great game, loving every minute.
I have an active Wow subscription but also played all the Elder scrolls games over and over. I'm partial to an MMO so play occasional Rift, ESO as well. Think I've played pretty much every MMO that has launched but still end up back in WOW when I get the MMO itch.
I have pretty much every console from the last 40 years, and thousands of games, but I much prefer PC gaming so tend to mostly stick to that these days.
My OH thinks it's a waste of time but has long given up even commenting. He was totally outnumbered while the kids were growing up.

Thanks *CruCru *sounds like a return to excellence. I did love the setting of AC1 and the story and of course Altair. Roll on Black Friday deals for Xbox Series X.

BiPolarBabe · 06/10/2023 22:55

I'm 39 with a 12 Yr old dd. DH used to work in the gaming industry and is still a die hard gamer.
During lockdown I got really into gaming, we used xbox live as our way of staying in contact with friends. DD plays but mainly things like bugsnax, or pokemon on the switch.
I'm a bit picky in what I play and prefer to play with people as opposed to single player.
Games I've loved are:
Gears of war 4 & 5
Destiny 2
It takes two
Sea of thieves (love hate relationship with this one. Love the game. Hate the griefers)
Dreamlight valley (an exception to the multi player rule)
Halo MCC

Dh is loving Mirage right now. He's always been an AC fan and it's taking him back to where he fell in love with the series

Aria999 · 07/10/2023 00:47

Another one into baldur's gate 3!

Also swtor.

CharlieBalf · 07/10/2023 08:39

If you enjoy survival please please have a play of Alien: isolation. Absolutely top notch! It's pretty tough too if you like a challenge!

I'm a 40 year old mum of 4 and a PC gamer, I'm into WoW, Sims, two-point hospital/ campus and Civilisation.

I used to play everything but I have found that I get really bad motion sickness on the more 3D "jumpy" type of games. Which is a shame because I was desperate to play the latest Grand Theft Auto but I just couldn't

NepheliLoux · 07/10/2023 08:55

I’ve just been ‘banned’ from playing Gran Turismo by DS - apparently I’m not allowed to be better than him 🤣

RK800 · 07/10/2023 12:17

Really excited to stumble on this thread!

Late 30s, 3DC and have always loved gaming.

Really into story driven games, just finished Killer Frequency which was fun and now finally got round to starting Cyberpunk. Currently playing on a PS4 but my birthday is coming up and hoping DH will surprise me with a PS5 as for some reason I can’t justify buying something that expensive that just benefits me! 🤷‍♀️

I work from home so I sometimes sneak in some time during my lunch break or I play in the evening. DH sometimes gets annoyed because I tend to lose track of time when playing.

So glad to see there are other gamers my age out there!

Phoenix9 · 14/10/2023 04:04

Need some good PlayStation recommendations please? I have PlayStation plus so games catalog etc...

No driving games, I cannot drive in a game and just constantly crash, and preferably no shooting games as I'm terrible at those, keep practicing on Fortnite as it's free Blush but the kids get frustrated I'm bad at it.

Sack boy Is good and the kids can play

ThePlantKiller · 14/10/2023 09:17

I'm another one who used to play WoW obsessively pre-DC, I never played for a few years when DCs were young but I'm back into it now. I'm lucky if I get three hours a week to myself to go on though!

Aria999 · 14/10/2023 12:06

@Phoenix9 is fortnite any good? DS is nearly 8 so I will probably need to tackle the issue of when he is allowed to play that and roblox at some point.

I'm worried about the 'chat to strangers on the internet' aspect, I certainly wouldn't let him go on swtor without me.

I already play Minecraft with him but only Minecraft dungeons so far cos I am too stingy to fork out for subscriptions.
