Hi!
So I'm looking to just chat and hang out (virtually) with some other mums who are also gamers.
None of my mum friends play and none of my gamer friends are mums.... see where I'm going here?

There MUST be others like me out there! --I'm late 30s
-Ps4 (was going to upgrade but baby #2 came along 👀)
-Open world
-SP

  • fav games are Skyrim, Witcher 3, LoU, Days Gone and Fallout

Please feel to hit me up with your favs and how/when you find time to play!

Course you are a gamer!

CruCru · 01/10/2023 11:47

I suspect that what made TLOU so good is the score. There are children for whom games are their only exposure to classical music.

Minfilia · 01/10/2023 11:59

Loved Skyrim, played it through probably ten times over the years

FFXIV I’ve played almost daily for nearly ten years

Hogwarts Legacy was absolutely amazing, but short and not much replay value

Love planet zoo but that’s PC only

Currently playing Starfield and Coral Island

I have 4 kids and I used to play when BF and they were asleep! When they were school aged I could only really play when they were in bed/playing on their own so couldn’t find much time really. Now they’re teens so I can do my own thing.

Hello, me I am! I have a professional job and a 4 year old. I play ps5 and switch. There was a period when I went back to work after mat leave until she was about 3ish when I didn't play video games much. I play in the evenings when she is asleep. If a game is coming out I am excited about I take annual leave while my daughter is in nursery (zelda!). I probably spend 1 hr a week playing with my daughter (yoshi, mario kart). On mat leave she would only sleep on me so I would stand up with the baby carrier and play pokemon! I'm a huge final fantasy fan and currently replaying FF7 remake, have the new one coming out next year on preorder, very excited!!

CharlieBalf · 01/10/2023 15:35

@CruCru yes! The soundtrack can make a game. And you're absolutely right that most youngsters forst exposure to instrumental music will be game and movie soundtracks.

There's a great radio station called, Scala and they have a dedicated game music slot 😄

I really really hope they are true. I definitely feel there's more in the storyline about Ellies imunity and I'm sure ND can come up with some new creatures ... amd dark basements.... and other horfying encounters 😆😬

Just restarted RDR2 yesterday as love it. I play on Xbox as I sold my PS4 as I didn’t use it much. I like Witcher too and Zelda. I used to Battlefield or COD but prefer doing it with friends but we’ve struggled to find time to play together. I tried starfield but I didn’t get into it. I should try it again. I’m looking forward to playing the metal gear solid as they are bringing it back to switch I think soon. I have a gaming 8 year old dd loving Pokémon and Minecraft. Also 6 month old dd who isn’t sleeping much through the day now so finding it harder to play.

CruCru · 01/10/2023 16:16

There’s a fan theory that another kid with immunity comes up and Ellie looks after him / her - so she effectively becomes Joel.

blahblahx · 01/10/2023 16:23

I'm a mum of 1 and I'm obsessed with my Nintendo Switch. Pokémon games are right up my street, not to mention they're nostalgic for me.

Partial to Animal Crossing and Spyro Trilogy as well!

squidgem · 01/10/2023 16:33

Mum of 2 here, I really enjoy cosy games as pure escapism. Nothing too stressful Smile

Play on Nintendo switch mostly, I really love games like cities skylines, animal crossing, sims! At the moment I'm playing Disney dreamlight valley, and I can't wait for hogwarts legacy to come out on the switch in November.

Hygeelady · 01/10/2023 16:48

I like games but not a gamer. We have all the consoles because my husband loves them. So i like dreamlight valley, sims, mario kart, sackboy, grand tourismo, beat saber...I don't think I llaytbhe games of gamers 🤣 but you know, there's very little time!

CharlieBalf · 01/10/2023 18:00

@Hygeelady there's no such thing as 'gamers games'! You are a gamer if you play anything 😎

Dreamlight valley is so fun!

I recently broke up with Skyrim after 13 years. I didn’t expect to be making Baldur’s Gate 3 my whole personality now, but here we are.

Soubriquet · 01/10/2023 18:45

I’m a gamer but not the ones where I play with other people.

I like playing games like Planet Zoo, Planet Coaster, Two Point Campus, Two Point Hospital, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Wylde Flowers and stuff like that

CruCru · 01/10/2023 19:18

I recently played the original Red Dead Redemption (it was released on the PlayStation). It was okay but not worth the £40.

Flop2023 · 01/10/2023 20:17

Mid 30's here, also professional with 2 small kids. Long time gamer - not very good at it - but love it! My first game was FFVII :) Most recently played The Long Dark (very hard) and Stray (adored it). Games that have stayed with me are The Last of Us, DragonAge, Portal 2, Skyrim, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Witcher, Dishonored. Times are tight and I don't have the funds for a PS5 or a switch sadly. I'm not ashamed of gaming, they're just another method of storytelling.

Wifispy · 01/10/2023 20:49

Just reactivated my wow subscription for a month after a couple of years off - youngest DC recently turned 1. We'll see if I actually find the energy to play! Also a professional, in my 40's and no one knows!

IBelieveInAThingCalledScience · 01/10/2023 21:08

My faves are Original Divinity 2 and Baldurs Gate.

Might explore some ideas from this thread now!

CruCru · 05/10/2023 16:42

My copy of Assassin’s Creed Mirage arrived today. I have started it but haven’t really got going yet - on my way to pick my children up from school.

yoshiblue · 05/10/2023 18:39

Has anyone played 'It Takes Two?'

My 9yo DS and me are playing it at the moment, it's so great as a couch coop game. It's weirdly about a divorcing couple who need to work together to solve puzzles and escape the house to get back to their daughter, but really such a fun game!

eandz13 · 05/10/2023 20:42

Has anyone played Heavy Rain? Highly recommend if you're into the crime/horror genre. It's an old one but the plot is good enough to ignore the graphics. Just mentioning as I plan to replay this weekend

Headphonehair · 06/10/2023 10:33

So my ps4 has arrived! Have downloaded fortnite already

i haven’t had my own console since my ps2 yonks ago, been playing on my ds xbox on his games, mainly fortnite/crash some Minecraft when in the mood.

if i liked GTA, GT, crash bandicoot, first Harry Potter on ps2, hobbit, sims, abe’s oddessy, driver, point blank, mmv3 ……what’s more up to date out there that I might like?

CruCru · 06/10/2023 17:13

Okay so I absolutely love AC Mirage. So far my only criticism is that the main character is an adult, bearded man from Baghdad and he has no chest hair. I find this unrealistic - a bit like AC Valhalla has grey squirrels (in 873AD there would have only been red squirrels in England).
